It's been six months since I'm here. I hate it.
I haven't eaten anything since last night. The teacher said it's a punishment for being bad.
I miss Kai. He would always scold me for not eating the dinner timely. When can I see him again? I want to see him really badly. I asked dad to let me meet him.Just for once. I didn't even say goodbye to him before coming here.
He said he can't bring Kai but he promised to bring Diego today.
"Aylin Black. Report to the main office." I jumped up from my bed at the announcement. Classes were off today because it was visiting day. I felt bad for all the girls who were crying in their bed because no one came to see them. Not knowing I would be joining them soon.
After I reported my presence they told me to go the visiting room.
"Diego!" I ran to Diego who was sitting stiffly in one the metal seats. I stopped calling him big brother after the pendant incident. But I noticed everytime I called him by his name he would get more stiff.
"Lili," A rare smile appeared on his lips as he stood up and picked me up. I was happy dad wasn't here with him. I didn't like seeing his hateful gaze towards me.
"Diego, did you miss me?"
"A lot." He kissed me on my forehead, perching me on his lap. It was the first time Diego was being so affectionate towards me. It gave me hope he had stopped hating me.
"Are you here to take me home?" I asked hopefully. He was being so kind to me so it must be why.
"Not yet." I felt like crying at his words. Why can't I go home yet?
"I don't like it here. If you take me with you, I promise I will be a good girl."
"Lili, you don't have to-"
Diego paused when he heard my stomach growling in hunger. "You didn't eat lunch?"
"No," I shook my head and placed my head on his chest. Its been so long I hugged someone. It felt so warm.

"Why not?" He asked, softly.
"They won't let me eat."
"What do you mean?" Diego asked, perplexed. "Lili, when was the last time you ate something?"
I thought for a while before answering, "Lunch, yesterday."
"Do they often not let you eat like this?" I nodded at his question. I felt Diego slightly tremble as he wrapped his hands around my small stature.
"Time's up!" The man who was sitting behind a desk, on the other side of the room, informed us.
I started crying at the thought of Diego leaving.I tightened my hands around him,"No!You can't leave!"
When the man urged him to go again Diego forcefully freed himself from me. I was still crying when he placed me in the chair and kneeled down to my level on the floor.
"Lili, do you trust me?"
"Yes." I instantly nodded.
"I promise I will come back to save you. But you have to stay strong until that. Can you do that for me?"
"Okay." I nodded.
I shouldn't have put my trust on him. For I already knew he was a dirty liar.
He didn't keep his promise.
He did come back but not to save me from that hell. But to teach me what having your heart shattered felt like.
... ... ...
"Aylin, wake up."
I rubbed my eyes open to find Kai nudging me softly. Somewhere in the long ride, I had fallen asleep on his shoulder.
"We're home. You can go sleep in your room." Kai bargained. I noticed Stephen's hold on the steering wheel tightened at Kai's words. He had been on edge ever since I caught him in his secret conversation Ezra. Did something happen?
I got my answer not even a minute later.
"Big brother?" Eve confirmed in disbelief. "You came?"
"I wouldn't miss your birthday for the world." Eve dashed to where Diego was sitting and embraced him in a hug. He was still wearing his army uniform and a big duffel bag was placed beside him. Which meant he arrived not long ago.

Why was he here?
Why did it have to be today?
"Oh my god, I have so much to tell you." Eve gushed excitedly. Diego smiled, nodding at her that he was listening. Meanwhile he scanned the room for my brothers but stopped at the sight of me. His eyes widened as he whispered, "Lili."
"We are having so much fun together. We watch TV together and also-" she stopped her rambling when she realized Diego wasn't listening to her but intently watching me.
I wanted to run back to my room. Run to Kai. Run anywhere that's not here. But my body had froze on its own accord.
Diego stood up and slowly approached me as if one sudden movement would break the moment.
Why weren't my legs working?!
"Lili, is that really you?" Diego didn't wait for a response and abruptly pulled me in a hug.
Please, don't touch me. I wanted to scream it at him but no sound came out.
"Lili, I missed you so much."
He said something similar in the past. And later it turned out to be nothing but a lie. At the thought of it, my energy came back and I pushed him with all my strength.
But my strength was nothing compared to his. It was like pushing a brick wall.
"Please don't push me." His hold on me tightened as he pleaded softly, "Let me hug you. Just for a bit. "
I don't want to.
I was physically repulsed just by the sight of him.
"Leave her!" Kai harshly pushed Diego away from me. "Can't you see you're making her uncomfortable?"
Diego opened his mouth to refute Kai's words but stopped when he caught the sight of tears in my eyes as I trembled slightly, hiding behind Kai.
"Lili, it's me, your big brother." He explained, thinking I was resisting because I couldn't recognize him after all these years.
"Don't be scared. I am here." Kai's soothing voice made me feel a little better.
"Why would she be scared?" Diego roared in disbelief knowing very well what Kai meant. "I'm her brother!"
"You have guts to say that." Before I could comprehend what was happening, Kai left my side and threw a punch at Diego.
Not expecting the sudden assault, Diego failed to dodge it.
"You never learn, do you?" Diego taunted, wiping the blood from the corner of his lips before throwing a punch at Kai using twice the force Kai used.
He didn't stop at that but ruthlessly started to beat him. Kai tried to block his hits but failed everytime. Kai was no match for him. I don't think even Stephen can beat Diego in a fist fight.
"You think you can beat me, little boy?" Diego spat slamming his fist on Kai's face. Kai staggered behind, holding his left eye. "Think again," he smirked.
"You knew! You knew all along where she was!" Kai finally managed to throw another punch at Diego, catching him off guard.
"So what if I did?" I have never seen Kai in so much rage before. But it did little to help his case. Diego could beat him even with his eyes closed. Kai was already on the ground, clearly losing this fight.
But Diego wasn't satisfied and raised his fist to hit him again. "You think you could win against dad? You can't even beat me."
Before Diego could permanently deform Kai's face, I blocked Kai with my body. I didn't want to see him get more hurt than he already was.
Diego wasn't expecting my sudden interruption and barely managed to stop his fist hitting me. I slowly opened my tightly shut eyes to find his fist inches away from my face.
"Are you crazy? You could have got seriously hurt." Diego shouted at me, concerned.
"Please, don't hit him." I stammered.
"He started it, Lili." Diego defended, rolling his eyes.
Kai stood up, ready for another round but I held his hand, "Will you take me to my room?"
Hearing the vulnerability in my voice, Kai controlled his anger and lead me out of there.

As he takes his last breathe his life flashed before his eyes , from an early age he had been like a sponge soaking in all the knowledge around him, science, history, culture, literature, and even military strategy he absorbed it all. As the boy closed his eyes for one final time,he laughed at how blinded he had been about the world and people and thought that if there was indeed a next life he would obtain power, power to protect himself and his loved one. 8 119The Devil's own sins
Writer updates available for free on patreon. The following account, dear reader, is a recollection and retelling of the story of the first imp. The last devil born from the original primordial pit at the dawn of time, and the lowliest speck of that first generation. It recounts the tale of Thozronnath the pitiful and his steady rise from obscurity, perpetually stuck as a punching bag for his betters until the day hell itself spat him out. The information presented here is pieced together from eye-witness reports and second hand hearsay, sometimes from creatures with more than two hands. I can not tell you with any degree of accuracy how much of it is true as it begins long before our time and it's true ending lies far unto the future still. I can tell you one thing though, it was confusing as hell. Cover: Illustration for John Milton's Paradise Lost by Gustave Doré (1866), a thankfully public domain image. Currently on hiatus.
