Elliot steps on the brakes, subjugating the car to move at an overwhelming speed of 80mph- way above the speed limit.

After Aaron's call, I had enlisted Elliott's help in driving to the location while Ashley decided to stay in the hospital with Zyair. At first, Elliot was a bit reluctant to drive me. However, at the sound of Aaron's name, he grabbed his keys and bolted out the door before I could say anything else.

Amidst the Chaos of Zyair's accident, I had forgotten to tell Elliot and Ashley about Aaron's stay with Gray. I didn't keep the information away on purpose. It just didn't come up.

Elliot steps on the brakes harder, prompting my head to jerk forward, almost hitting the dashboard.

"Okay, take it down a notch. We are not trying to get arrested before we get there," I snap, turning my head away from the window I had been staring at since we started the journey.

Elliot ignores my words, training his eyes on the road ahead. I tilt my head to stare him in the face to ensure he got my message. Only when I got a good look at his face did I realize he had been crying.

"Elliot?" I call out, my voice a bit softer.

He sniffs and wipes his nose with the back of his hand. He grips the steering wheel harder until his knuckles turn pale while.

"Stop the car."

No response.

"Elliot," I yell.

My voice must have interrupted his thoughts because the car comes to a sudden halt, throwing everything off balance. I had my seatbelt on, but that didn't stop my head from crashing into the window.

I massage the throbbing pain in my temple with my fingers before proceeding to ignore it.

"Are you okay?" Elliot's eyes examine me.

"I'm fine, " I reply earnestly. "Are you?"

He lets out a low shaky breath. "Yes. Yes. I'm good. I'll drive slower now."

He starts the car again, but I place my hands on him when he reaches for the car brake.

"I'm sorry for not telling you about Aaron. And believe me, I want to get there as fast as you can, but not if you're going to drive like this."

Elliot raises his eyes to mine, a soft expression on his face. He nods his head.

The car is restarted, and this time, he drives slower than before.

It takes us a few more minutes to get to the location, but I wasn't complaining. As they say, slow and steady wins the race.

The house wasn't hard to miss. Not because of its architecture or anything like that, but because of the amount of Police and SWAT cars surrounding it.

There was a distinct amount of officers surrounding the building, holding their rifles at the door. My heart feared for Gray as I wondered if he was still inside.

I skim through the cars in search of Aaron's. His car was easy to spot, seeing as it was the only bright car there- the color being red.

"There's Aaron's -"

I turn my head to Elliot, only to realize that he was gone, leaving the car door wide open.

My eyes follow his movement to see him running towards Aaron, who was too busy pacing around to notice we had arrived.

Getting down from the car, I watch with a smile on my face as Elliot jumps on Aaron. As quickly as the shock appeared on Aaron's face, it disappeared when he sees Elliot. He returns the hug, snaking his hands around Elliot's neck and resting his chin on Elliott's face.

"I've missed you so much," Aaron whispers, running his hands through Elliot's hair.

I was happy for them, but my fear for Gray was more. And my facial expression couldn't hide that.

"Gray would be fine. Kayden's in there now, " Aaron pats my back. Although his mouth said one thing, his eyes said another.

"Who's Kayden?" Elliot asks.

"Jay's brother or something," Aaron waves his hands dismissively.

"Who's Jay?" Elliot raises a confused brow.

Aaron releases a frustrated grunt. "Some-

He stops mid-sentence when the door to the house opens, commanding our attention.

Three men are hauled out in handcuffs- none of them I could recognize, not that I bothered.

I ignore the people I didn't want to see, my eyes searching for the one person that matters. When my eyes land on him, my soul crushes.

Gray walks-more like saunters- out of the house. He looked nauseous, lightheaded, and completely out of whack with his own body.

His face was pale, and his eyes red. I had never seen him look so broken, so lost.

"Gray?" I call out, taking slow steps towards him. He raises his head real slow, staring aimlessly into space as he sits on the hood of a random car.

My hands raised to suppress the tears that were threatening to fall. There was something about seeing Gray, one of the strongest people I knew, in such a dejected state that shattered me.

I increase my pace to hug Gray, wrapping my arms around his neck and stroking his hair with my hands.

"You don't need to say anything," I swallow back my tears, sniffing as I nuzzle my face in his hair. "You can cry all you want. I'll just stay by your side."

His body shakes as he returns my hug and tightens his grip on my waist while burying his head further into my chest.

"I'll always be by your side, " I kiss the top of his head and let my tears fall.

The car ride back home is as silent as a graveyard. No one, not even Aaron, dares to talk or ask Gray any questions.

I squirm in my seat at the deathly uncomfortable silence. Out of the corner of my eyes, I glance at Gray. He had his eyes trained out the window, gazing at nothing in particular.

Just as I part my lips to speak, I feel Gray's cold hands squeeze mine gently. I close my lips. He doesn't say anything. Rather, he drops his head on my shoulder without releasing his grip on my hands.

I know I had promised not to say anything, but seeing him this way was killing me. I desperately needed to know the problem to determine how I could solve it.

Even if I couldn't solve it, I could try.

"Thank you," Gray speaks for the first time since he got out of the house.

If his head weren't so close to my ear, I wouldn't have heard those words.

"For what?" I whisper back, resting my cheeks on his head.

He shrugs under me. "For existing."

I smile softly, just as Aaron pulls up to our house. Gray gets down and walks away from the car without saying a word to Aaron.

"Thank you for driving us," I lean on the windowpane to talk to Aaron.

Aaron nods his head. "I'll sleep at Elliot's tonight. You should take care of Gray."

How could I take care of him if he's barely talking to me? Gray was the type to try and fix everyone else's problems but never lets anyone take care of him.

"You know the body bag I told you about?" Aaron raises his brows slightly. I nod.

"It was Jay."

My eyes widen as the realization sets in my mind. Jay was the one who sacrificed his life months ago for Gray and me after Luca kidnapped me.

"He was alive?" I gasp.

Aaron nods his head again. "Gray is probably beating himself up about it. I'll need you to take care of him."

I nod my head in understanding and wave goodbye to Aaron. Upon entering the house, my eyes set on Gray. He was searching through the kitchen cabinets furiously.

"Are you okay?" I choose my words carefully.

"Are you hungry?" he asks, ignoring my question.

Not this again. Not this cycle of him avoiding to talk about his feelings.

"I heard about Jay," I blurt out.

His hands stop mid-air, and he swivels to face me- an intimidating glare on his face.

"What about him?" He snaps.

"What about him?" I frown, crossing my arms over my chest. I knew he was hurt, but he shouldn't be talking in that tone.

"He's dead," He spat. "So shut the fuck up about it."

His words shocked me more than they hurt me. "I know he's dead, and I know he died today. You should cry! Shout! Do anything other than what you're doing now!"

"Whatever I do is none of your fucking business, Dove. Shut the fuck up, or stay the fuck away from me!" He yells at me.

I could feel the tears build up at the name he called me. Never did I ever think hearing my first name could hurt me this much.

"I'm just trying to help you!" I yell in return as my tears betray me and fall from my eyes.

"I don't fucking need help!" He slams the bag of chips in his hands on the ground, resulting in the bag popping loudly. "Why does everyone think they know what's best for me?"

His voice was cold and harsh, anger seeping through his words. But his eyes read differently. The anger was nothing but a shield for pain, like a cornered soldier- who lost his troop- randomly throwing out grenades, scared for his life, angry, but mostly lonely and hurt.

I stare at the ground, biting down on my trembling lower lips as my vision got blurry. I didn't want to cry, but I couldn't stop the tears either.

Gray releases his tensed shoulder, heaving heavily. "God, Kelch. Please don't cry, " He groans, taking strides towards me.

"I'm sorry," I mumble through my hiccups.

I should let him grief how he wanted, not how I expected him to. I had only one job- to stay by this side and support him, yet I couldn't do that.

He holds me in his warm embrace, comforting me. I wipe my tears and pull away from him immediately. I was supposed to be comforting him, not the other way around.

"I shouldn't have yelled at you. I'm sorry," He says, tucking my hair behind my ear.

I shake my head and hold his face. "I shouldn't have yelled either. And I certainly shouldn't be telling you how you should feel."

He smiles and places a soft kiss on my cheek. "Salty," he comments, tasting my tears.

I roll my eyes at his attempt to lighten the mood and walk away from him. I couldn't make a meal without burning down the entire house, so I grab a bag of corn from the cabinet.

"What would you like to eat?" I ask, knowing full well I couldn't make anything other than toast or cereal.

"You," Gray whispers behind my ear, sending a shiver to course through my veins.

I feel his hands snake up my shirt as his cold firm hands spread goosebumps all over my skin.

"I'm not a snack, " I try to speak, but my words come out breathless.

"Of course, not, " his voice is low and raspy. "You're a full. Course. Meal."

He presses against my back, his growing bulge pressing my lower back, pushing my tummy further into the cabinet.

His hands snake around my neck as he lowers his head to my neck, trailing light kisses on my sensitive spot. He was making it hard for me to resist him.

"You smell so good," He nuzzled his nose deeper into my neck, biting and teasing me.

With a tight grip on my waist, he spins me to face him. His eyes hold a dark, lustful gaze, and he brings his hand to cup my face. I close my eyes and try to control my breathing as he leans in slowly. He bites down on my lower lip, gently, passionately.

I moan softly in his mouth at his teasing and feel a satisfied smile appear on his lips. Taking matters into my own hands, I slip my tongue into his mouth, controlling the kiss. At this point, my thighs are hot and heavy.

His hands wrap around my neck, and he pushes my head back softly, deepening our kiss. I sneak my hands through his shirt, pulling him closer, digging my nails into his skin.

A sexy low moan erupts from the back of his throat, and he tugs at the hem of my joggers. He pulls away from the kiss, asking for permission with his eyes. I nod.

I moan out loud as he slips his fingers into me. My head falls back in pure ecstasy as he pumps his fingers at a faster rate.

"Fuck, you're so sexy, " He breathes, burying his head in my neck. He cups my breast with one hand, massaging my nipples. His lips sucking on my neck sends a sensation through my body. I couldn't help but moan and arch my back as my thighs part to give him further access.

He suddenly grabs my neck in a firm but tight grip. "Look at me."

I ignore his words. My eyes roll back as his middle finger, ring finger, and thumb work their magic on me.

"Fuck, I'm close," I announced breathlessly.

As soon as the words leave my mouth, he retracts his finger. My eyes snap open. "Why?" I whimper.

I watch wide-eyed as he brings up his finger- covered with my juices- to his mouth and licks it clean.

My cheeks turn bright pink in embarrassment. "Why did-

"I want you. To listen to me," His dark green eyes hold my gaze, commanding a response. I nod my head and swallow.

He carries me to sit on the kitchen counter, trailing light kisses on my tummy.

Just before he could go down on me, the door opens.
