《All I ever wanted》19. Confession
Advertisement
I see a man and a woman kissing. He had his arms cupping her face while she wrapped her arms around his waist.
The man was my dad.
But the woman wasn't Shelia.
I stood froze to the spot, unable to say a word. Gray immediately stands in front of me, blocking my view, but it's too late. I already saw the scene.
My dad was cheating on Shelia.
"Kelch, get in the car. Please, " Gray pleads softly.
This time I listen to him and get into the car without saying a word. Gray starts the car and drives away.
I stare down at my fingers, refusing to look at Gray. He had seen my dad kiss another woman. I knew he cherished his mum and couldn't even begin to imagine what's going through his mind.
He probably hates my dad now. Maybe he hates me too. I bite my lips in an attempt to stop myself from crying.
I knew my dad wasn't the type to cheat, but I did see him kissing another woman. I've never seen my dad with another woman until his relationship with Shelia, so I'd like to believe he's a loyal man.
I trust him.
Life being the fucked up bitch that it is, decided to let my phone ring at that moment.
I stare at Shelia's name on my phone till it stops ringing. Gray didn't seem to notice my phone ringing, preoccupied with his thoughts.
A message from Shelia comes in a few minutes later.
I bite down harder on my lower lip. Here Shelia was, caring about his daughter, while my father was gallivanting around with a stranger.
I sigh and switch off my phone, resting my head on the headrest. I kept on thinking there has to be a reason why I saw what I saw, but couldn't come up with anything.
Cheating is cheating. There's no excuse for cheating.
"Where are we going?" I ask Gray, breaking the awkward silence.
"A high up place, " he replies with a small smile.
"Heaven?" I scrunched my brows.
"No. A cliff, " he laughs.
What?
A few minutes later, we are driving past the mountains. Gray pulls up to a spot just before we get to the cliff. The mountains were quiet.
The only noise around was from the rustling of trees and the chirping of birds.
"Come on, " Gray grins and gets down.
He jogs to my side and opens my door before I could. He puts his hand out for me to hold. I hold his hand and get down, taking in the scenery before me. "What is this place?"
"The guys and I found it a few years back. We used to come here whenever we wanted to clear our heads or hide from our parents."
Gray opens Aaron's booth and grabs a blanket from a duffel bag. He spreads it a few feet from the cliff and pulls me to sit with him.
"Try not to think about anything, " he squeezes my hands gently, and I nod my head.
The sky never failed to amaze me, filled with mysteries and endless amounts of space. It was a bright shade of blue today. So we rest on our backs and let our eyes gaze upward, enjoying the nothing that is everything.
So I pause, let my soul join the serenity of quietness, and breathe. That's when I feel it all the more, sense energy from the trees, and the birdsong and the gentle breeze around me.

I turn to lay on Gray's chest. His heartbeat quickens as a reaction to my touch. He wraps his arms around my shoulders and raises his head to plant a kiss on my head.
"Do you hate my dad?" I ask the question in my mind.
He sighs softly and tucks a strand of my hair behind my ear, playing with my earlobes. "I don't think I'm in a position to judge him."
I could feel how uncomfortable he was and knew what he meant. He had cheated on me before. I raise my head to stare at him.
His blue eyes stare back at me with an unfathomable expression, drowning me in it. He scans my face, waiting for me to say something.
"I'm sorry I hurt you, Kelch, " he apologizes nervously, his eyes not leaving mine.
Part of me wanted to know why he cheated the other part didn't. I was scared he cheated because I wasn't good enough.
"Kelch, I need you to know you are the best thing that has ever happened to me, " he adds, a soft expression in his eyes.
He cups my face and strokes my cheeks gently. "I'm sorry if I ever made you feel less."
I remove his hand from my face and turn to look at the mountains. Gray was great with words. Words that made my heart flutter.
"Was I good at it?" I mutter, staring down at my hands.
"What?"
"When we had sex, was I good at it?" I turn to look at him over my shoulder. "I thought you cheated because I couldn't satisfy you."
His face breaks down, and he rushes to sit closer to me. "God. Kelch, you were the best."
He's quiet for a moment and runs a hand through his hair exasperatedly. "I cheated because I wanted you to break up with me."
I frown at him, my emotions running all over the place. "You didn't like me again?"
"I don't think I can ever not like you, " he chuckles lightly.
He bits on his lower lips and holds my hand. "I was a coward. Being with me was going to put you in danger, and I didn't want that, but I also couldn't bring myself to break up with you. So, I tried to give you reasons to."
I stare at his face, trying to decipher what he was thinking, but I got nothing. He's always quick to mask his emotions, refusing to let me in.
"You know I won't know what's wrong with you if you don't say it, " I raise a brow at him.
"I'll sort it out, " he whispers and leans in to place a kiss on my forehead.
If I had a penny for every time he said- I'll sort it out, I'll be fucking Bill Gates.
That sounded weird, but you get my point, right?
Before I could say anything, he stands up and takes off his shirt. I stare at him with wide eyes, wondering what he was doing.
I let my eyes trail over the ridges of his abs and unknowingly bite my lower lips. He takes off his jeans, leaving only a boxer on his body.
"What are you doing?" I stare at his boxers, wondering if he was going to take that off too.
He leans in and whispers in my ear. "You don't have to undress me with your eyes, Kelch. You can't do it with your hands later."

He then winks at me and jumps off the cliff.
What the-
I rush to the edge of the cliff and see that he jumped into the calming water below us. My heart starts to beat faster when I don't see him come up.
"Gray!"
"Gray!"
"Fuck, the water is freezing, " He yells from below. I sigh and place a palm on my chest, happy he was okay.
"What are you doing?"
"Jump, Kelch, " He calls out to me.
I shake head and walk back to sit on the blanket.
"Kelch, " he calls again, his voice echoing and ruining the peace of the environment.
I have never gone cliff jumping before. In fact, at the pool, I gently slip my legs into the water.
But being here with Gray, I start contemplating it.
"Come on, jump, " He echoes again. I stand at the edge and look it. The jump height was about ten meters.
I don't think I can do it.
"Do I need to cheer you on like you cheerleaders do, or do you want one of coach's pep talk."
"Kelch, " he groans.
I giggle and take my top off.
Something about him yelling my name loudly and flapping his arms in the calm water makes my adrenaline pump.
He makes me want to do things I'd never do, pushing barriers I'd never touch. I remove my jeans and stare down at the waters.
I stand at the edge of the cliff, and suddenly, I feel tense and anxious. "Do you need me to come get you, " he asks.
I could see his head bobbing up and down in line with the water. I take a deep breath. I can do this.
I rush to the edge before my mind could think of things going wrong and spring off disappearing from the cliff.
Falling, I'm on my own. No one surrounds me, just air and a view. I bring my knees to my chest as I land in the water with a splash.
There was only one word to explain how I felt as I swam up from the water.
Euphoria.
Gray is in front of me, a grin on his handsome face. His eyes were a mesmerizing deep ocean blue, flecks of electric green flowed through it. His smile etched its way back into his face, and I couldn't help but blush.
The way he smiles at me makes my tummy flutter. I don't know why. It just did. I reach out and trace his jawline with my index finger, moving my fingers to graze his lower lips.
He sucks in his breath, his body tense. I couldn't help but feel a little satisfied knowing my touch affected him.
"Don't give me those eyes, " He whispers, his voice husky.
I giggle and swim backward, moving away from him. "What eyes?"
He pulls me by my legs and drags me closer to him, wrapping my legs around his torso so that I'm straddling him.
He stares at me intensely, his eyes filled with desire. He lets his gaze drop down to my lips before flicking it back to my eyes.
"You know what you're doing, and unless you want to have sex right here, I'd advise you to stop, " he replies in a low whisper.
I stare at him, unable to speak, shocked by his bluntness. He pulls away from me and swims to the edge of the cliff.
"Again?"
"Huh?" I managed to say, still feeling the tingling sensations from his hands on my body.
He tilts his head and smiles at me. I realized he was asking if I wanted to jump again.
I nod my head and swallow. "Yeah. Again."
~~~~~~~~~~
I sit on the bench in the school garden, waiting for Gray or Fawn. It's Monday after school, and I needed a ride home.
Fawn was supposed to be my ride home, but she got detention for the dumbest thing.
I swear Mr. Davis is on his period or something. He gave Fawn detention for talking in class and giving him 'attitude.
Gray has football practice, and as we all know, I don't have any other friends. Elliot didn't bring his car either, so he rode home with Ashley.
I stare at my phone screen and sigh. Fifteen more minutes till detention ends. My phone battery life is low, so I mentally curse Apple.
Can't they make the battery life last longer?
I lie down on the bench and close my eyes, feeling the sun rays on my skin.
Suddenly, I feel a presence next to me, blocking the sun rays. I sit up and open my eyes to see Luca staring at me, both hands in his pockets.
"Hey, " he sits next to me, and I scoot over so he could be comfortable.
He stares at me, making me squirm under his gaze. He drops his eyes back to his hands. "Are you avoiding me?"
What? No. Maybe.
"No, I'm not. Why?"
He shrugs. "I just feel that you're avoiding me."
He looks so cute with the way he stares at his hands nervously. He lifts his face and stares at me, his green eyes boring into mine.
"You know I like you, right?" He asks.
I nod my head, hoping he's not about to confess his feelings to me.
"Like I really, really like you, " he asks again.
I nod my head and bite my lower lips.
"Good."
That's all he says, and we fall into an awkward silence.
"Can I ask you a question?" He tilts his head to look at me.
"You've already asked two, " I laugh.
"Well, I have one more to ask, " he chuckles.
I nod my head hoping he doesn't ask me out. I don't know what I'd do if he does. I like Luca and didn't want to hurt his feelings.
But I also like Gray and know how much dating Luca would hurt him.
"Are you and Gray a thing again?" He voices his question.
I heave a sigh of relief, glad he wasn't asking me out.
"No, " I reply him.
The school door opens, and the football team comes pouring out. I see Gray walking out with Zyair and Aaron, a smile on his face as he spoke.
His smile gets bigger when he sees me, and he takes long strides towards me.
"So you're single?" Luca asks, bringing my attention back to him.
"Y-e-a-h, " I drawl.
He rubs his palms on his jeans and holds my hands, staring into my eyes. "Vuoi metterti con me?"
Gray stops in his tracks, his eyes turning a darker shade. He clenches his jaw as he stares at Luca.
What was that supposed to mean?
I bring out my phone to use Google Translate, but couldn't remember what he said. "Can you repeat yourself?"
"He's asking you to be his girlfriend, " Gray says.
Story about a man who trusts and loves his girlfriend. Basic premise is that your girlfriend is leaving on a trip and wants you to take part in some mysterious course while she's gone. Figuring out what the course is about is a big part of the story. Mostly the story will be focused on dialogue and thoughts. One of my goals is for there to not be any potentially interesting conversations that are skipped past, many times I've been reading some story and hated it when some really interesting conversation is just summed up without going into enough detail.
