《All I ever wanted》12. Confusion

Dove's Pov
I widen my eyes as Gray's leg made contact with Luca's waist. Luca crouches and clutches his side in pain.
"Are you crazy?" He glares at Gray, his expression dark and angry. He most definitely is!
Gray stares at me for a while before turning his head to Luca. He tilts his head and smiles. "Maybe."
I walk towards Luca and help him stand. I turn to Gray angrily, demanding answers from him. "Do you like me?"
He raises an eyebrow amusedly. "What?"
"Or do you hate me? Cause it has to be one of the two. Either you like me or you hate me so much, you can't bear to see me happy."
"Is he gonna make you happy?" He chuckles, sarcasm dripping from his voice as he pointed at Luca.
I licked my bottom lips and shook my head. I turn to Luca and stare at him, making up my mind to do something crazy. "Would you be my boyfriend?"
Luca widens his eyes and glances at Gray. He looks back at me and pulls himself away from me. "What are you saying?"
"I like you and I want to date you," I say again, crossing my arms.
I see Gray tense up and clench his fist. Luca sees it too and chuckles. "Are you using me to make him jealous?" He asks, trying to mask his hurt with humor.
I sigh a little and shake my head. That wasn't what I was trying to do. I genuinely want to give Luca a chance.
Before I could say another word. Luca tucks a strand of my curl behind my ear and smiles at me. "I don't want you to do something you might regret later. I'd wait till you actually like me."
"I do like you," I reply honestly.
"I'll wait till you like like me," Luca rolls his eyes humorously. Gray sighs and shoved his hands in his pocket before walking away.
I turn to look at Luca, who was smiling down at me. Wait. Did I just get rejected?
"Are you sure you won't regret turning me down," I chuckle.
"Maybe," He replies and pulls me into a hug.

I'm on my way home with Gray. Luca had to leave the party early because his father called, while Fawn was having the time of her life with Zyair.
He was all over her and I didn't want to ruin their night because I needed a ride home, so I settled for Gray.
Gray taps his finger on the steering wheel impatiently at the stop sign. "Uh.... I'm sorry," He muttered to himself.
"What?"
"I said I'm sorry," He repeats in a louder voice.

"For what? Cockblocking me?," I chuckle.
"Don't say that word," He groans leaning his head back.
I shrug. "It is what it is."
He chuckles and runs a hand through his hair. "Want to get ice cream?"
"Is that supposed to make up for what you did?" I raise a brow and he shrugs, stepping on the gas pedal.
"Ice cream always made you feel better."
"Yeah, two years ago," I roll my eyes. "Diamonds make me feel better now," I laugh.
He chuckles softly and drives on. A few minutes later we pull to Quentin's gem store. It was one of the best jewelry stores in NYC.
I look out the window and back at him. "You're kidding, right?"
He shrugs and unbuckles his seat belt. He gets down from the car and walks to the other side to open the door for me.
Why is he doing this? Making my heart skip with his little gestures.
"I'm trying to make you feel better," He smiles, leaning on the door.
"Their jewelry is really expensive. Besides, I was just kidding," I say and he grabs my hand.
"I didn't ask you to pay. Let's go," He says and pulls me out of the car.
He intertwines his hand in mine and we walk into the store together. The Quentin store had to be one of the classiest places on earth. I've only been here once when my dad got me a Quentin necklace for my 16th birthday.
It was a very pretty silver necklace with a butterfly pendant embedded with diamonds and emeralds. It had cost my dad $3,250.
I felt bad for spending so much money on a jewelry and didn't ask him to buy me anything else for like three months.
I clutch Grey's arm. "I'm not mad anymore, can we leave?"
He picks up a bracelet from the stand and inspects it. "Do you like this?"
It was a rose gold diamond bracelet that glittered under the store's white lights. "Wow," I gasp.
A sales lady walks up to us with a smile on her face. "That's one of our latest editions. It came in early this week from Italy," She explains.
"We'll take it," Gray announces and the lady nods her head.
I grab Gray's arm and pull him to the side. "What are you doing? It's probably too expensive, I don't want it," I whisper to him.
"I'm just trying to buy you a gift, Kelch. Can't you just accept it?"
I didn't want to accept the bracelet because it would just make me think he likes me. He has been giving all the wrong signals this night. I don't want him to get me all happy and giddy, just to crush me again.

"I really don't want it, Gray," I plead.
"Then I'll hold on to it till you want it," He states firmly.
I sigh and nod my head. I knew there was nothing I could do to stop him from buying it as he was already swiping his card.
~~~~~~~~
I walk into school Monday morning and towards my locker. I got a new phone yesterday and had trouble remembering my apple password.
Apparently, it would take a week for me to regain my old account. I hadn't been able to text Fawn or anyone all weekend.
"Dove," I hear someone call my name. I turn to see Elliot walking towards me. He had seen me watch him and Aaron kiss. I turn back to my locker and pretend to not hear him.
"I know you hear me, Dove," Elliot smirks, leaning on the locker next to mine.
"I didn't see anything," I say immediately. A lot of people suspect Elliot to be gay, mostly due to the way he acts, but no one had ever suspected Aaron.
It would be a huge drama if it came out that Aaron was gay. All his fangirls would probably die of heartbreaks, that's for sure.
"Are you sure?"
"Do you want to talk about it?"
"Maybe?" He shrugs.
I sigh and shut my locker. "Is it a fling or something more?" I ask.
Elliot looks at me like I'm crazy before shaking his head. "It's not a fling."
"One-night stand?" I tease.
"He's my boyfriend," He deadpans.
I stare at him with my mouth agape before shaking my head. "Are you serious? How long?"
"Six months," He shrugs, shoving his hands in his pockets.
My head went blank and I try to process the information I just got. What the f-
We walk past Aaron at his locker. He has his hands around one girl's waist, kissing her neck and whispering in her ear, making her giggle like a little girl.
I raise an eyebrow and stare at Elliot, who had a blank expression on his face. "Are you okay with that?"
He shrugs nonchalantly again. "He wants to keep our relationship a secret until he's able to come out."
I mentally praise Elliot for being so open and calm. I could never have a secret relationship, it'd kill me.
I was the type to show off my man. Although, Gray's the only person I'd ever dated.
"So no one knows? Not even Ashley?" I ask and he shook his head.
"Ash and I never talk about personal stuff like that. The only people who know are Aaron and me," He replied and stares at me. "Well, and you now I guess."
"So you want me to keep my mouth shut," I chuckle and draw an imaginary line across my lips. "Got it."
"Actually, it's cool to have someone who knows. I want to talk to someone about him, you know," He laughs softly and tugs at his earlobes.
I smile back at him and pat his back. "I gotcha. If you need to talk, I'm always here."
We walk into class and sit next to each other. Fawn was seated next to Zyair. They had their head down, giggling at a book. While, Zoe and Ashley were seated next to each other.
I lay on my desk as usual and hum 'Love story' by Taylor Swift. I recently heard the song again in a TikTok video and couldn't get it out of my head. It was one of my favorite songs when I was younger.
I was mainly obsessed with Taylor Swift and Jaden Smith back then.
"Have you ever thought about braiding your hair?" Elliot asks me and I sit up to look at him.
I nod my head. "Yeah, my dad used to braid it for me when I was younger. Apparently, he used to help my mom braid her hair when she was still alive," I smile softly.
Elliot gasps and brings his hand closer to his lips. "Oh my God. I'm so sorry, I didn't know," He apologizes quickly.
"It's fine. She died while giving birth to me, so I literally have zero memory of her. I know her from the stories my dad tells me," I laugh, trying to lessen the guilt he felt.
"She must have been a wonderful person," Elliot says in an attempt to make me feel better.
"I guess she was," I chuckle and make eye contact with Fawn.
She widens her eyes when she sees me and immediately walks over to me.
"Dove you won't believe what happened on Friday night," She squeals next to my ear. I look at Zyair and see that he's occupied with Aaron and Gray.
I look at her and smirk. "What? You had sex with Zyair?" I tease a small smile on my lips and she bites her lower lip in an attempt to suppress her smile.
My eyes widened when she didn't say anything. Was I right?
"You had sex with Zyair." I squeal in a loud voice, and all eyes immediately turn to look at me.
Oh shit.
