《Raised by Heroes》Chapter 23

-Mika's pov.-
The next afternoon, June 14, the train rolled into Denver. Altria and I had eaten the night before in the dining car, somewhere in Kansas.
I heard from Annabeth that she, Percy, and Grover that the greyhound they were riding in on the first day of their quest exploded with their bags. Luckily, Annabeth and Percy had kept some money in their pockets instead of leaving it in their bags. But I still paid for their meals without their permission and we started talking about what had happened at St. Louis Arch.
Apparently, they're going to the beach in Santa Monica next because Percy's dad needs him there and how they got from the exploded greyhound to here, at the train. It was a little hard not to cringe or show any concerning(to them) emotions since I was there in the supposed 'Medusa' incident but I learned from the best to think something else entirely. I was thinking about what's life as a cat is like, most of the time.
I then introduced them to Altria, my 'cousin' from England, and then sorta explain how I got from point A to B(here) with some lies. They didn't get suspicious about that but were surprised with how much the Saber ate. Wait until they see her or any of the rest of the Pendragons at dinner. One peculiar reason on how I know how to cook and bake was helping Archer Emiya and some others in the kitchen.

As Altria and I left the train station, we separated from Percy's group and walked around the streets of Denver. We decided to check out Denver's zoo...until someone called us from behind.
"Well, well. The most bitchiest woman in the world is here!" Looking behind us, the person who said that is a pale-haired girl with gleaming yellow eyes that looked like a reptile's, she wore a short tight-looking black dress, a black jacket with fur linings and has a red color inside of it. She also wore long black boots. It's Jeanne d'Arc alter, an Avenger-class servant who does not like her (2)other selves...and Altria.
"There's a child present, Crude witch," Altria said and I gave a confused look when she said that while covering my ears which somehow made Jeanne Alter-or Joan, or Jalter as she prefers to be called, started to have a vain on her forehead.
"Mika already knows how to curse for crying out loud!"
"She's twelve, and I did not see you cry...yet"
"The hell-?! Well, Mika has lived with others who say it even if they are right next to her! I don't see them saying anything about it"
"Ah, so it was your fault she learned how to curse. Typical you."
"What the fu-!"
"Enough!" Someone said and stopped them arguing, I looked to see a guy who has yellow hair and bright red eyes. He wore a dark blue (almost)buttoned shirt, white pants, brown shoes, and golden jewelry. It's Caster Gilgamesh, one of the casters who taught me how to use the Gate of Babylon...one of them again since there are two more versions of him.
"A crowd is forming, so I suggest that we go somewhere else." The Caster said and we all saw people looking at us, a few were about to pull out their phones, and others started to whisper at each other. The three servants looked at each other, then Altria grabbed my hand and we all left to go somewhere hopefully private.

We all went to a diner.
All around us, families were eating their choices(or not) of food, drinking malts and sodas. Men were drinking together, and some women having a girl's night out(what I think it is). This diner was very flashy with their neon lightings from neon's pink to blue, and there was the Beetles music over the still working jukebox. This reminds me of those old movies showing a 90's diner at some point.
We sat by the Windows meaning we got a comfy spot with the two velvet cushioned seats with a table in the middle.
"Hand over my credit card Mika." Gilgamesh said showing his hand to me, "How did you..?" I tried to ask "Clairvoyance. Just drop a note the next time you take it, that teen version of me kept complaining since he thinks I took it and it's annoying." He said while I gave him back the credit card.
"Got it! Gilga Ojitan!" I said, he looked at me and proceeded to pat my hair...until he was gripping my head tightly, "Didn't I tell you not to call me that!?" He said a little irritated.
"Oww! Ojitan, this is child abuse!" I said trying to take his hand off of me. "It's not abusing you, it called learning your lesson." He said as he finally let go after a few more seconds.
"Yeah, Gilga Ojitan. Isn't that a little abusive?" Joan said in a teasing tone.
"*Munches*, For once *chewing* I agree *munch*," Altria said as she started eating the meal Gilgamesh ordered for all of them. "Says the Avenger who uses her Noble Phantasm for Mika's weapon evasions class, and don't eat with your mouth full Saber." He said calmly as he picked up a fry and put it in his mouth.
"A-anyways, what are you two doing here? Altria said that everyone at the Hanging Gardens would be going to a beach." Mika asks after a few minutes, Joan quirkier an eyebrow then grinned as she propped her elbow on the table and looked at Altria who was beside her "So you were jealous that you weren't allowed to go, Ice queen?" She said Altria began to glare making the other snicker. "Well, you see Mika, a few days while the Hanging Gardens were heading to the beach. That Obnoxious blonde Saber decided to have a mini-adventure with a few of his buddies and go to the beach on foot. We arrived first before them obviously, but they didn't return and your old man(she meant Solomon) told some of us to go look for them thinking they got sidetracked or something. Then we got here, found you guys, and present." Joan said and I kind of understood.
So Jason and a few others decided to walk on the roads of America for a mini adventure to the beach instead and got lost as a result so dad had to ask the other servants to go look for them. This might be a few since most of them only listen to the Fujimaru's.
"Why can't Solomon and Merlin find them? Or Medea?" I asked, "Agreed. Two of those Casters have Clairvoyance. One of them has a magic ball" Altria muttered after finishing her third Hamburger, "Here's the thing. Mika, has your father mention about some disappearances of a few workers at America's Mage Association branch, right?" Gilgamesh said and I nodded. "More are starting to disappear without a trace and they either come back dead or bruised; Sherlock, Moriarty, Merlin, and Solomon are helping them solve the case. Da Vinci, Master, and her brother told all of them to do so. Medea on the other hand, can't seem to find the missing few of her Argonaut crew. Like they vanished in their spirit forms for some reason." The Caster said and I started to worry, this is just like the Camelot Singularity all over again.

"Don't sweat about it, Master would know if they were sent back to the throne of heroes if they get killed," Joan said to me, I guess they would...but it's kinda odd that Medea(the older one) couldn't see where they are...
Looking out at the window, I watched as people go do their businesses, going out or into the diner. Then I perked up when I saw Percy, Annabeth, and Grover about to come into this diner "Why does this happen to me all the time now..?" I mumbled and Gilgamesh seemed to hear me since he asked about me knowing them so I explained what had happened before meeting him and Joan here. "So a few weeks ago you found out that your friends are demigods and one of them is a Satyr...then one of them got a quest because of gods quarreling over something stolen and one of the brothers is your friend's father so the brother who is the king of the Greek gods blames your friend who hasn't stolen anything from him?" Gilgamesh said and I was very confused but nodded altogether.
"That is very foolish of them." The Caster concluded, "Yup." Altria said as she opened a soda can with a pop "They should have gotten cameras if they didn't want anything to disappear." Joan said, I sighed with a nod, I'd rather (sometimes) do Ishtar's commands than Zeus. At least she's good with her sibling...most of the time...
"Can I go to them? I want to get them lunch." I asked Gilgamesh, he looked like he was thinking about it, then gave me back his credit card. "Don't use it too much." He said and I grinned with a small laugh. Doing a mini mocking salute, I took the card and went to where Percy and the others are.
Not noticing the small gasp the King of knights made when I held the card from him a second ago.
- = Author's pov = -
"You good, King?" Joan said, noticing the small gasp Gilgamesh Caster made when Mika took the credit card from him in a split second. "Altria, when did Mika get a brown card, and what does it look like to you?" Gilgamesh asked the Saber. "Some time ago when she was with the Medusa's, that thing had a guy with a spear. It looked like that lazy green Lancer, but French." She said after sipping her soda.
Gilgamesh then looked at Mika, who was seated next to a boy who he noticed was Percy since Mika explained who he-and two others were going on a quest. He reviewed what his clairvoyance showed to him...about Mika going to an abandoned park with the mentioned people...then a transformation to...a demi servant? Furrowing his eyebrows he then heard Joan d'Arc say.
"Lemme guess, your Clairvoyance showed Mika in the near future?" Joan had to guess since she was a little irritated when he didn't answer her. Gilgamesh nodded his head at her, then watched Mika and her friends like something is about to happen. All three of them did.
"Well? What would it be?" The Waitress said to the demigods and Satyr with a skeptically raised eyebrow. "We, um, want to order dinner." Percy said to her, "You kids have money to pay for it?"
Grover's lower lip quivered and Percy was afraid he would start bleating, or worse, start eating the linoleum. Annabeth looked ready to pass out from hunger.
When Percy was trying to think up a sob story for the waitress, someone scooted into the booth next to Percy. "Sorry I'm late guys, totally forgot something outside." Annabeth, Percy, and Grover were surprised to see Mika had joined at their table. The Daughter of Athen looked where she might have come and seen Altria giving a nonchalant wave while sipping her soda and sat with two people she guessed were part of their family since the girl next to Altria look a little similar to each other, not to mention them about to quarrel.
"We'll have four Hamburg stakes, Three large vanilla milkshakes, and a mango smoothie in medium, with fries on the side please," Mika told the Waitress politely.
"You have money to pay for it?" The waitress still said skeptically, when she was about to give her a credit card. A rumble shook the whole building; a motorcycle the size of a baby elephant had pulled up to the curb.
All conversation in the diner stopped. The motorcycle's headlight glared red. Its gas tank had flames painted on it, and a shotgun holster riveted to either side, complete with shotguns. The seat was leather—but leather that looked like...well, Caucasian human skin if you wanted to be grim.
The servants looked around, confused about what's going on with the humans, it seems it didn't affect them and where Mika is at with Percy, Annabeth, and Grover.
The guy on the bike would've made pro wrestlers run for Mama. He was dressed in a red muscle shirt and black jeans and a black leather duster, with a hunting knife strapped to his thigh. He wore red wraparound shades, and he had the cruelest, most brutal face with an oily black crew cut and cheeks that were scarred from many, many fights.
Mika wasn't surprised or scared by that-since seeing battle scars and blood during the Grand Order(plus seeing Beowulf and Edmond in his summer form) but was instead comparing his appearance to what another version of a Terminator would look like.
As he walked-or more like sauntered into the diner, a hot, dry wind blew through the place. All the people rose in eerie synchronicity as if they were hypnotized, but the leather-clad guy waved his hand dismissively and they all sat down again. Everybody went back to their conversations.
"The fuck?" Joan mumbled when that happened and glared at the guy, he felt familiar somehow, Altria seemed to feel the same since she stopped eating to make an icy glare. As they were about to materialize their weapons, Gilgamesh raised his hand for them to stop while watching what would happen next.
The waitress blinked as if somebody had just pressed the rewind button on her brain. She asked us again, "You kids have money to pay for it?" The Terminator ass face(The name I dubbed him with for now) then said, "It's on me." He slid into our booth, which was way too small for him, and crowded Annabeth and Grover against the window.
"No, it's not," Mika told him, point-blank. "So get away from us."
Ares looked at her. Mika couldn't see his eyes behind the red shades, but bad feelings started boiling in her stomach. She squashed it down though. 'Bitch, I've been pushing down my breakfast and my everything for years- I know how to control bad feelings.' All it did was make her want to just say 'fuck it' and leave. But to just come back with a Bazooka. Possibly grabbing EA in the process(not really, just her imagination doing that for her)
The man looked up at the waitress, who was gaping at him, and said, "Are you still here?" He pointed at her, and she stiffened. She turned as if she'd been spun around, then marched back towards the kitchen.
'Where is a Bazooka when you need one?' Mika thought.

Something I have and am dealing with after leaving the Marine Corps. So Fat Boy Hero was born. Check out the link below to listen to an episode of The Round Table Podcast where I brainstormed the idea with the hosts and special guest Michael underwood. http://www.roundtablepodcast.com/2013/03/workshop-episode-53-guest-host-michael-r-underwood/ This book is a side project and will be updated as time permits.
