《Raised by Heroes》Chapter 4

"I'll be right back, okay Grover? I'm just gonna go clean up, that's all."
Mika said and he nodded as she walked away.
Halfway up the steps amongst people entering the museum, Mika glanced back at Grover who looked pale, cutting eyes between Percy and Crystal to Mr. Brunner while not notice Mika or what was going on while the Latin teacher was absorbed in his novel.
Mika shook her head and went up to follow Percy, Crystal and Mrs. Dodds into the museum.

-Narrator's pov.-
Before long, they were back in the Greek and Roman section, which empty except for Mrs. Dodds, Percy, and Crystal who walked in while Mika was hiding from their sight of vision.
Mrs.Dodds stood with her arms crossed in front of a big marble frieze of the Greek gods. She was growling deep in her throat, which was a dead giveaway from her true nature to Mika.
The woman then turned to Percy and Crystal and said a usual line from herself.
"You've been giving us problems, honey."
"Yes/Sorry ma'am," Crystal and Percy said to Dodds as she tugged on the cuffs of her leather jacket "Did you really think you would get away with it?" The look on her eyes was beyond mad, it was evil. "W-we'll try to not do it again ma'am," Crystal said while thunder shook the building which made her jump. 'What does she even want with them?' Mika thought as she threw a sympathetic look at her roommate.
"We are not fools, Percy Jackson," Mrs. Dodds said. "It was only a matter of time before we found you out. Confess, and you and Crystal Steinback will suffer less pain."
'What does she mean by that?' The two referred students thought.
'Geez, of all days. Now I wish I have clairvoyance'
Mika thought as she took out a celestial bronze pocket knife and took the blade off of the handle, ready to throw it if something were to happen.
"Well?" Mrs. Dodds demanded Percy.
"Ma'am I don't..."
"You're time is up," She hissed and her eyes suddenly glowed like burning coal. Her fingers stretched, turning to talons, her jacket melted and reformed into large, leathery wings. 'She's not human!' Crystal shrieked in her mind as she backed away.

Dodds has turned into a shrivelled hag with bat wings, claws, and a mouth full of yellow fangs. When she was about to slice them, she shrieked as a sharp blade pierced her hand 'Take that batty hag' Mika thought as she took out more blades and silently threw two of them, one landed on her shoulder while the other sliced a talon off of her finger.
'They will kill me if they knew I missed' She thought as she remembered one of her teachers would sometimes scold her when she missed too much in her aim. "Who dares!?" Mrs.Dodds screeched turning her head from side to side but to see no one besides Percy and Crystal who were scared as 💩.
Then Mr. Brunner, who'd been out in front of the museum a minute before, suddenly wheeled his chair into the doorway of the gallery, holding a pen in his hand.
"What ho, Percy!" He shouted and tossed the pen through the air.
As Mrs. Dodds lunged at the said boy, he yelped "Stand back!" to Crystal and dodged as he felt talons slash the air next to his ear, he then snatched the ballpoint pen out of the air, but when it hit his hand, it turned into a sword-which was Mr.Brunner's bronze sword that he used on tournament day.
Crystal, who was undeniably scared. Hid on one of the statues which was near to where Mika was hiding at, 's**t.' She thought and decided to escape the gallery unnoticed, luckily the statue she was hiding in was close to the entrance. "I'll get my blades later...I think Percy can handle that...thing, hopefully" She mumbled and walked to get something at the gift shop and thought about looking at a gallery next to it.

"W-what the heck was that?!" Crystal stuttered as she walked out of her hiding spot to Percy after Mrs.Dodds exploded into Yellow powder which smelled like sulfur as it blew away into nothing, leaving the two alone in the gallery with a talon, and three blades on the floor.
The sword was now a ballpoint pen in Percy's now trembling hand, Mr.Brunner also wasn't here as well. "I have no idea, let's go find Mr. Brunner, maybe he can explain" He said to her.

Did they imagined the whole thing?
As they went outside, it seemed that it started to rain a while ago, Grover was sitting by the fountain, a museum map tented over his head. Nancy Bobofit was still standing there, soaked from her swim in the fountain, grumbling to her ugly friends.
"I hope Mrs. Kerr whipped your butt," She said when she saw them.
"Oh please, she just told them to buy a shirt for you" Mika said behind Percy and Crystal as she threw the rolled shirt to her "I just happened to be there myself, and please try and be a bit less clumsy in the future. Alright, mongrel?" She smirked while Nancy just huffed and walked away with her crew.
"When did you get here and buy a shirt? Also, I owe you now,"
Crystal thanked her while Percy went to Grover.
"I was buying some souvenirs, so what did happen when you were with Percy and Mrs.Kerr?" Mika asked her which made her confused, "Don't you mean Mrs. Dodds?" She said which made Mika's head tilt to the side. "Crystal, besides Mr.Brunner, our other chaperone is Mrs.Kerr. I don't think there's ever been a Mrs.Dodds at school. Are you feeling alright?" Mika smoothly lied which made Crystal explain what happened a moment ago to her, Percy and Mrs. Dodds turning into a creature.
⊱ ──────ஓ๑♡๑ஓ ────── ⊰
'Thank goodness Mika believed me' Crystal thought when they returned to the Dorm room, but Mika knew all along on what happened.
After Percy and Crystal left the gallery, Mika came back to the large room with a new book and shirt as souvenirs and picked up her blades and 'Mrs.Dodds' Talon and decided to keep it into her inventory.
Mika then experienced Percy's 'hallucination,' when he asked about Mrs.Dodds which made some students stare at him like he's a psycho since Mrs.Kerr—a perky blond woman that got on the field trip bus—had been our pre-algebra teacher since Christmas.
'And that's been going on since today' she thought as she checked the calendar which showed the month of May. "You doing okay Cris?(Kris when pronounced)" She asked her roommate who nodded, but yelped as she heard the thunder. That freaky thunderstorm continued since Christmas and it was getting annoying for the two since a big tornado was spotted in the Hudson Valley. Mika then stood up from her seat, grabbed a book, and went to the door but turned to Crystal "I'll be right back Cris, it's tutoring time." She said, referring to tutoring Percy for tests and quizzes because of his dyslexia- she also helps Crystal and maybe some other students if they didn't get it. One of the things they are thankful to Mika.
-Mika's pov.-
I then went out of the room and walked to where Percy and Grover's room is.
"Yo Percy-!" I was cut off when I swiftly dodged a book that was flying when I opened the door. "Really?" I asked with a crooked brow, "Sorry" Percy said apologetically.
"You should really say that to Mr.Nicoll, do you know what an old sot means?" I asked him again and he responded with a shrug "It means a drunk person, baka." I said while he stifled a laugh, "D-did I actually call h-him that?" He said and I grinned with a nod as an answer.
"So...before tutoring you, let's talk about Mrs.Dodds" I said softly, Percy immediately sat up and looked me in the eyes from his chair while I leaned on the closed door.
"You believed that!?" He said shocked while I scoffed.
"Of course, Cris told me so its obvious that I believe what she says. I mean, Mrs. Dodds was our other chaperone in that field trip, and when you two were with her, I was exploring the gift shop and the gallery next to it. After that I went back to everyone not knowing who Mrs.Dodds is." I explained to him and he sighed in relief knowing that his friend beleived what happened.
"Now the first test. The day after tomorrow, is English and Math" I then smiled and heard him groan while I flipped a page on my English book. "Relax, I'm sure you'll succeed at least in a scale of...something passible. We're speaking the exact language after all. Besides, I learned this kind of Math were now learning when I was way much younger." I reassured him as I sat on another chair near his desk, Chiron(fate) be proud.

I made a haughty promise earlier to not worry because I'll continue this series, and with things lately, I've only proved myself a liar. Further promises dwindled, and I've lost trust. So many things have been going on recently that I've been booked. I will refrain from making any future guarantees or promises as my busy schedule will stay with me for a long long while. Time for me to actually spend on writing and revising won't appear until at the least November 19. I won't say expect that's when I'll restart, but you can expect expecting it to maybe happen. That's really shallow. But with everything going on, I've let my small reading base down. I apologize. I still stick by my statement though that I won't abandon this project. I plan to stick it to the end, no matter the delay. Most importantly, thank you everyone; readers who both like and dislike my work. I appreciate your time spent on my dumb imagination. Stay toasty my readers in this winter season. Cheers. UPDATE: We're back on track. Thank you for your patience. Any future readers, heyo! Glad you're here. UPDATE 2: So far it's been 21 days since I last uploaded a chapter. The best thing done for any fiction, no matter how good it is, is that it continues, and I have a bad history with that. 1 fiction on hiatus and already more delays with less than 20 chapters in this fiction. I've been very preoccupied with adding more things to do in my life rather than actually committing to any particular thing. That applies primarily to this. I cannot abandon this, as busy as my future looks and will look as I get busier and busier. Someday, I hope, I will be able to sit down and just write. just. write. But for now, I ask for patience. I suppose I'm glad this fiction hasn't picked up so that I don't disappoint too many people if any really. But I need to commit and it's going to happen sometime and sometime soon. No more flowery words. I'll see you later. UPDATE 3: It's very evident I won't be able to pick up this story for a while. With AP Testing, competitions, and other things I am busier than ever. But I must complete this fiction. I have too. Until next time. UPDATE 4: It is now the summer. I owe everyone an apology. Chances are, nobody's around to see this, and that is okay. I only blame myself for this sort of brokenness of a fiction, not that it is actually that bad but I am just exaggerating it for dramatic effect. But what's not exaggerated is the severity of my broken promise. I apologize for my naive claims about finishing a novel that I couldn't finish and that I didn't have the discipline to finish. Nor the skills, really, I was and am still an immature writer. What is to place now? I want to make it clear I understand this is my fault. I will man up to this. And I will accept any criticism. I understand I messed up. Reading Stephen King's On Writing made it clear to me that I need to do two things:Read lots. And write lots.I have done neither. If I don't have the time to read often, how do I expect to write? I need to become more experienced. I need to become a serious writer. So if I want to dream of continuing, I need to at least fulfill both requirements. I enjoy writing. I haven't written seriously outside of school in a while. I planned to write this summer and finish this. I made a lot of promises that I didn't keep.So there's that. I won't enact any self-pity, or be foolishly obsessed. What I did was wrong, and I must deal with it. I let down readers. And I apologize.I hope I can find forgiveness. This is a writer's sin.I won't promise I'll finish this. I intend to finish this, at some point, because writing is fun and I want to write. But how things are don't reflect that. Maybe I'll finish this at some point. Maybe I won't. I won't be naive to make that promise.I thank everyone who has read this if this is the end. If not, and hopefully not, I thank everyone who is to read future chapters. I thank everyone who allowed me to live in the miniscule little dream of mine as I passed my days. I thank everyone who cares enough to read this. Until next time, peace everyone. Thank you. You are all great readers and great people. I wish everyone the best in whatever reading/writing endeavors follow you henceforth.
