《Raised by Heroes》Chapter 1

"Please, please just stay in the room with her!"
"But-" "We'll be fine! We'll just..."
"Please...! Please....! Don't die...! Don't die...!"
"Why....? Why is it you....!?"
"Please...take her away...Where she can be happy...please take her away..!"
Mika gasped as she woke up in cold sweat from her nightmare, she sighed and slowly heaved herself up and made her way to the mirror in her bedroom within the moving Hanging Gardens.
She was still tired from the jet lag when she arrived last night from Chaldea, staying with her older sibling-like guardians Ritsuka and Gudao Fujimaru, being the people that spent the most time with Mika during her monthly visits to Chaldea or at the Hanging Gardens of Babylon where she is in right now with many other servants that stayed there since it felt cramped, or since new(mostly old/returned) mages or employees were recruited to Chaldea after it was restored and now occupied some/most of the bedrooms.
Speaking of training, Mika groaned remembering her Sword Lessons with Okita and Musashi, and that was only for traditional Japanese swordsmanship...
There was Archery with Atalanta and Arash...
Spear lessons with Scáthach and Cú Chulainn(Lancer)...
Infiltration training with Hassan and the other Assassin classes...
'Hopefully, we're stealing chocolates from the kitchen this time.' She thought to herself.
Magecraft lessons from Merlin, and maybe Solomon might just be there if he has time...
She then thought about her father-like figure before sighing once more, it was somewhat of a miracle and a mystery as to why Solomon was summoned. Nobody explained how or what happened that day to her. Sure, during the last fights he was still alive...but...why was he back in his Solomon form and Goetia was still a desperate entity from him again?
Speaking of Goetia; he and Tiamat were also summoned but now stayed in Iraq because of the lack of mana since it has decreased (reset) overtime from technically saving the world. . . Thankfully some signs show that it's slowly regrowing, think of it like a sloth that was trying to move after sleeping for many days. That is how slow it is.
Mika shook the thought away and got her training clothes which were similar to one of Chaldea's uniforms. A long white sleeved shirt, a Black skirt, black leggings and brown combat boots.
After getting them on she made her way to the main palace, smiling at the child-like servants (some of the same height as hers) who waved and greeted her before jogging the rest of the way then giggled quietly when passing by Semiramis and Amakusa who snuggled comfortably with one another.
"Change of plans," Chiron spoke as all her teachers gathered.
"Usually, your schedule for today's afternoon consists of tactician training, but with getting ready to go to an actual school soon you will need to learn how to handle bureaucracy and politics."
"Aww," Mika muttered, ignoring some others giggling.
"Would you rather help Paracelsus and Avicebron clean out their workshops?" He asked with a crooked brow.
"Never mind! I'm good! So whose teaching me?" she quickly asked, ignoring Chiron's all-knowing look as someone entered the room waving a hand to her. "C 'est Moi! Mon Cheri," Marie Antoinette smiled as she came alongside d'eon and Caster Gilgamesh. "Oh! Where missing two more," Marie gasped...Suddenly, the air turned dark and somehow muddy; the smell of cigar smoke and burning ash soon assaulted almost everyone's noses and Mika turned to see two Avengers approaching.

"Ohayo, Dante-San! Nobu-San!" She called out to them, and both smirked before shaking their heads. "You seem chipper than usual for this course, Akashi" the Red-headed Demon King mused in her native tongue as she let out a chuckle watching Mika slightly shiver already in fear.
"I'll make sure to take that into account during your weapon evasion class."
"N-NANI?!"
"Mika," that soft voice had made the girl look up to a soft-faced ruler.
"How are you after the heavy crash course lesson Nobunaga planned?"
"My brain hurts," she whined, snuggling into the embrace of the Ruler. "Your lucky that you were a prince when you were still alive Moses." She told him making the Ruler sweat drop "I wouldn't say that," he chuckled before petting her head. "Though you are a smart person! So that'll be easy peasy for you in a few days!" Moses complimented. "You have way too much faith in me," she sniffed, the Ruler chuckled before shaking his head. "I mean...what if I messed up and I-OWW." Mika yelped as a harsh flick was delivered on her forehead, she then looked up to see a pissed off Ozymandias.
"So all that I have taught you in chariot courses and confidence is just going out the door to rot?" he growled, Mika then pouted and tried to hide in the vast expanse of Moses' robes. "Your brother is being a meanie," she whined, making the Savior of the Jews chuckle as he rubbed her back and began to berate his brother.
The three of them were contented in what was going on and enjoyed the chaos around them and the chaos they had created.

"Mika, pay attention to the lesson, please." Chiron sighed as he looked up from his book to see her about to sleep. "But this is just for review Chiron," Thee girl slightly yawned as she lightly threw her pen onto the table. "Don't let arrogance get the better of you child," the Centaur warned the girl who just pouted and leaned back in her seat comfortably. "Now, we are doing this review so that you are prepared for school in the first place."
"But Chiron-Sensei," she sighed. "This is such complex math. Besides, I'll be in sixth grade, not the tenth!" I hate doing that Fibo-something sequence!
"Well not with that attitude," Chiron scolded. "Why..." Mika muttered to herself as the rest of the lesson was about math and brushing her up on popular trends of all things.
-/(•,•)) : Soon. . .-
Mika groaned as she slightly limped her way down to the mess hall, rubbing her bruised shoulder from roughhousing with Beowulf and getting chased by, or was 'Racing with' Hessian Lobo; the giant blue wolf– not the headless horseman (he just watched from afar) with the company of the two wolves Cu Caster has as familiars also right behind her. She then jerked her attention to the door of the mess hall that suddenly opened.
"Mika-chan," Raikou called as the girl entered the mess hall.
"You're still insistent on going to an actual school right?" Mika nodded and sighed as Raikou cooed and started to pinch her cheeks.
"Well," the mother-like woman sighed, deflating and began to release her cheeks.
"We looked into all the schools and aside from the ones in Japan, Canada, and Iran but...I don't think you can evade the monsters lurking near other schools and a lot of Satyrs are at almost every school there is as well." She explained to her as they sat down at the table with their Lunches that Raikou prepared for each other.

"I...expected that. I guess the one in Kyoto is good enough, but I could pick the one in New York" Mika said to her.
"Are you sure about that young one? The you-know-what resides there," Atalante spoke up at the opposite side of the table, with that all the Heroic Spirits became quiet as they looked at their young charge.
By You-know-what she meant the Greek gods;
Most of them don't exactly know what a Mage/Magus/Magi, Servants and the likes are surprising.
Then there's the Greek servants' problem.
For one example:
Chiron technically died when Heracles 'killed' him, but his soul was separated into two while he was unconscious, one who was still alive on Earth because of immortality and the other who was with Mika and the others in the Babylonian Garden. Then there is fact that most of the Greek Servants dislike some parts of their past (and the Greek gods) makes sense.
The other example is a bit more on the bloody side: Caenis (Sir Kirshtaria's servant) would gladly castrate Poseidon if she ever has the chance to. Well, that's what Mika heard when the Heroic Spirit was drinking that one time, she didn't know what does castrate meant. So when she asked Kirshtaria and Caenis that day, the servant seemed glad to say it but her master clamped her mouth shut and told Mika that it was a punishment if someone misbehaves, it must be really painful then.
"Oh," Mika murmured weakly, looking down at her food.
"But I can still choose, right? I think I can take care of myself" Everyone was fully silent at her question that felt like she was going on a journey never to be seen. . . They won't like that thought though.
"Oh mi pequeñita," Quetzalcoatl, who was beside her sighed as she hugged her from behind. "It's up to you...but-" she was cut off as the atmosphere went cold when Solomon got up from his seat and turned to his foster-like daughter.
"Mika," Solomon murmured, the girl looking up as the Lucha Master went back to eat her meal, "My little girl," he then mumbled and caressed the other face and smiled as the young girl almost shivered and close her eyes from the rings on his fingers when it touched her skin as knowledge soaked into her. It felt tingly, seeing small facts flashing inside her mind.
"The choice is yours but you'll have to be prepared for everything.
A Satyr might notice your presence for sure unless you keep practising your Magecraft. Some monsters are an easy kill thanks to training and practising killing, but there are the odds that the other Chiron might be in New York and go suspicious with a Satyr if they saw you." Solomon explained to her but she just gave a smile.
"Well as you said, it might be a possibility if he's there but I can take up my chances since I've practised my magic with Merlin-San, and I think I got the gist on summoning weapons as Gilgamesh does. So I think I'm ready for the outside world." Mika answered and Solomon glanced at Merlin, Caster and Archer Gilgamesh who confirmed it then glanced back at his daughter.
"Then," he smiled at her and then turned to look at someone.
"Semiramis!"
The Assyria woman jolted at the sudden yell of her name while Amakusa woke up and hastily removed his head from her chest.
"My Hanging Gardens are making their way to America as we speak, we shall arrive at Vermont early on Saturday. Rest assured that my doves will be scouting for anything or anyone lurking around before we arrive at Mika's home." She informed the Mage King before trying to urge Amakusa back onto her chest making many ignore the display of Affection.
"That means we have 5 days before we arrive," Mika heard Saint Martha murmur then shivered when she heard one of her wrestling teachers murmur about a new training regimen.
"Ahaha! Then we must prepare the best outfit for you to go on your first day!" Marie gushed as she, Nero and Liz went to talk about her grand entrance,
"I must speak with you," She heard Solomon murmur and ushered the girl out and into his wing of the Hanging Gardens, Semiramis knew that Solomon was greater than anyone she knows and offered up a palace wing to him and he greatly accepted it.
Solomon sat down on a mat filled with fluffy pillows and opened his arms for his daughter who entered his embrace. Once she was securely in his arms he leaned back and lightly combed Mika's hair with his fingers, he then hummed as the girl snuggled deeper into the safety of her father's arms. "Since you're going to a new place, I think I should let someone be with you..." Solomon murmured as he took a lock of her hair and rubbed it between his fingers. "Not of my blood you may be...but in my heart, you're so much more than a little girl I fostered... .you are my daughter. That can be agreeable with Ritsuka and many others that took care of you kindly."
"Dad... .you do realize that I can fend for myself, I'll be fine..." She murmured, the King of Mages sighed as he hummed in acknowledgement. "...But I might consider Kiyohime-chan if there are bullies," she huffed, puffing her cheeks out at the thought. "I don't recommend letting her go to your school just for that...but I think a caretaker just in case someone goes overboard," he chuckled while Mika lifted her head to narrow her eyes at him. "That was one time Dad. One time..." she defended, her father then chuckled and smiled as she laid her head on his lap again. "Just don't beat demigods to unconsciousness if you're fighting the same monster anymore; or anything not normal in those terms," he murmured, brushing some hair strands back. "Though, It will be sad since I won't get to see you almost every day. I need to return to Chaldea soon, after all" He muttered quietly but Mika heard it and snuggled in more for comfort,
"I'm still here, right in your arms," she assured the king.
"And...I think I'm just gonna take a nap," she murmured with a wide yawn.
"Sleep well my little princess," he murmured, summoning one of the latest magic reports while his daughter slowly went to sleep in his arms.
Because it would not be like this for much longer...as much as he loathed being away from someone he cares about.

A Titan's Crusade
Erik Thayne spent most of his life being brutally ridiculed and tormented for his weight and physical appearance, among other things. A social pariah and diagnosed with an eating disorder no one has an explanation or treatment for, Erik spent years trying to overcome his issues with his personal image and escape the ridicule and vicious torment of his peers. After years of dedicated effort, and a fresh start in a town away from his childhood and adolescent tormentors, he had finally begun to truly realize what he'd been striving for all along. Only, fate apparently has other plans because in the blink of an eye, Erik found himself snatched from Earth and taken to another universe, another world, where he is offered the chance to be more than he'd ever imagined. Now, he has to fight to restore the Balance between Chaos and Order on a world of swords and magic, in a universe governed by the System's laws, which resemble those of RPGs from Earth. Erik learned to embrace the things about himself that others taught him to hate, using them to reforge his physical identity into something more removed from his old self-loathing. But can he learn to embrace the darkest parts of his mind just as he did the reviled aspects of his body and become who he needs to be to succeed in the task set before him? It might just prove easier to stalk in the dark as a monster than to walk in the light as a man... *This is my first time publishing anything I've written to a public audience. Due to formatting issues, I forwent traditional stat-screens for something a little less problematic, delineating stat screens by separating them from regular text with horizontal lines in a lighter-grey coloration. Let me know if you like them or not. Criticism is entirely welcome, but please don't hate on my work after only reading 1 chapter. This is a writing project I intend to complete but I have committment problems so we'll see how long this goes on. Also, fair warning, as the description implies, the main protagonist is intended to be someone who has been treated cruelly, developed antisocial tendencies, and ultimately has to question his own humanity--or lack thereof. This story is not intended to be brutally dark but I will definitely be trying to follow a darker theme. It is intended to be violent and some scenes later in the story might be...alarming. There will likely also be some light, non-graphic (think more implied with crude jokes and conversation than actual details, there will be no full-blown sex scenes)relationship scenes planned later and if you're opposed to either a bisexual or gay main character, stay away. I haven't yet decided which way he's going to swing but the odds on him being straight are relatively miniscule, and I've always wanted to write a story about a gay man who basically looks like a lumberjack because who doesn't like giving conventional stereo-types the middle finger? This will NOT be a harem story, and I have no intention to focus on romance over action--it's a consequence of character development where I'm concerned, not the be-all-end-all of the story. The cover-art does not, in any way, belong to me. It was an image titled the Druid King (by duskanmarkovic according to the file name) which I found on Google Images. Until I can get something commissioned, this is the best stand-in image I could find.
