"What is going on here?"
PLOT HEAVY CHAPTER! I'M SO PROUD OF THIS CHAPTER SO ENJOY.
George POV
Despite the day being off to a rocky start, I and Dream spent practically the entire day talking and rambling off to each other about the dumbest things together.
The conversations seemed to flow along easily and there were never any long, awkward silences. Instead we seemed to jump from topic to topic with ease. If it weren't for our situation and I just met the blond on the street, I might even call him a friend. Then we would have exchanged phone numbers and talked for hours on end over the phone.
Perhaps in another life we were friends, or even best friends.
And it wasn't like any normal conversation either.
Normally when I'm having a conversation I find myself constantly averting my eyes from theirs. Not being able to maintain eye contact for more than a few seconds without getting uncomfortable.
But this time, I found myself getting lost in those emerald green eyes as he would ramble on about topics he felt passionate about. One of those topics being gaming, specifically Minecraft. One of the many things we had in common. We even found ourselves joking around about the legend of Herobrine and how frustrating it is when creepers blow up our houses.
"God, I mean why would they even add creepers into the game! They're literally so annoying. They're not even that useful. Like if I ever need gunpowder I can just make a ghast farm. I mean really, how often do you need mass amounts of gunpowder before you've even made it to the nether?" Dream asks.
"Never, not even once." I answer immediately. "I mean if your going to make a mob as annoying as a creeper, at least make it insanely useful or something." I add on.
"Yeah. And am I the only one that whenever you're trying to sleep and there's a mob nearby, it's always a fucking creeper, and then when you go out to kill it, it blows up your bed?" Dream asks.
"DUDE that happens to me every single time I swear." I nearly yell the first word.
Dream and I laugh and as the laughter slowly dies down Dream looks at his watch and his smile drops.
"Speaking of bed... It's 10:38, we should probably be getting to bed..." Dream says sadly, neither of us really wanting our conversation to end.
"I guess you're right. But we can continue this tomorrow right?" I ask with hope in my eyes as I look into Dream's sad ones.
"Yeah, of course." A small portion of his smile returning.
My smile widens and Dream slowly stands up to start walking to to basement.
The remainder of my smile fades as I remember I have to return to the basement still after all of that. The harsh reality that had previously faded during the conversation returning in an instant.
Though I think deep down I knew I would return to the basement for the night, but for some reason a sliver of hope remained that maybe me and Dream would pass out on the couch or Dream would allow me to sleep elsewhere. But the moment it became evident Dream was walking towards the basement door, it was like that sliver of hope was crushed by a 100 ton boulder.
I slowly rose from my place with my gaze fixed on the floor as I followed Dream to the door and down the stairs.
We followed the regular 'routine' down to the door that led to the 'bedroom' Dream had oh so generously provided me with from the start.

"Go on..." Dream urged me to walk through the doorway.
"Do I..." I started when a forming lump in my through cut me off.
I took a small breath in and out before trying again. "Do I have to?..." I asked with so much more to say but without the will to say it and the lump in my throat growing with the feeling of tears beginning to form in my eyes I just couldn't. (I'm emotional when I'm tired okay, and it is WAY past my bedtime.)
"I-I mean..." Dream starts.
Already knowing what the answer will be I slowly start walking through the door.
"How about I stay down here with you?" Dream offers causing me to immediately stop and turn towards him.
I looked into Dream's eyes as I thought about it.
On the one hand I wouldn't be alone, on the other hand I would spend the entire night with him.
But would that be such a bad thing? A couple days ago that would be a definite 'YES GEORGE YOU FUCKING IDIOT, THAT WOULD BE A BAD THING' but now... I'm not so sure...
I would still be in this horrible basement but at least I wouldn't be alone.
Not wanting to keep him waiting on my indecisive mind, I hesitantly answered with a small nod.
"Th-that would be nice..." My lips curled up into a small smile and Dream returned it.
"C'mon." Dream gently took my hand and led me entirely into the room before closing the door behind us.
Dream sat down with his back against the wall and his legs off the edge and due to my tired mind we seemed to fall into the position naturally as I laid down on the bed on my side with my head resting on his lap and fell asleep in seconds.
.
.
.
I woke up the next morning to the feeling of someone's fingers running through through my hair slowly.
"Mornin'." I hear Dream's sleepy voice from above me.
I notice that we're in the same position that we- well at least I fell asleep in.
"Good morning." I say quietly, not wanting to get up just yet.
"I was thinking of making waffles for breakfast, does that sound good?" Dream asks.
"Mhm..." I say as I lean into the touch of Dream running a hand through my hair.
"We should probably get up, you know." Dream comments.
"But whyyy?" I mumble out as I shift my position.
"Because it's like 9 AM and I'm hungry. I mean you can stay here for a little longer until breakfast is ready but I'm going." Dream says.
"No no no... I'll come..." I say as I hoist my upper half off of Dream's lap and stretch.
Dream gets up and stretches to and we make our way up to the ground floor. An odd thing I noticed, was that Dream didn't lock the doors back up. I wondered if it was just because he was tired of punching them in since he seemed to be doing that pretty much twice a day now, or if he just forgot. Either way, I decided not to mention it.
"Hey uh, Dream?" I say once we make it up the stairs.
"Yeah?" He asks.
"With your hand and all, do you want me to help you with breakfast?" I offered.
"Really? Cause that would literally be amazing."
I nod and we walk together over to the kitchen.
Dream told me where to find the ingredients and we started getting things out together.

"You know... If you had just let me put a cast on it, it would be a lot less painful." I brought up with a smirk forming on my face.
"Oh. My. God, are you ever going to let that go." Dream says and I only laugh knowing I'm right and he and his ego just don't want to admit it.
"It's not too late to let me just put a cast on it you know." I decide to push further.
I only hear a quiet 'for fucks sake' from the blond before the only sound in the kitchen becomes the closing of cabinets and the clattering of bowls and utensils.
Time Skip
Once me and Dream finished making waffles we both stacked them onto our plates and sat in front of the TV.
Dream POV
Me and George are enjoying a random show on TV when I hear a buzz come from beside me. I notice my phone beside me which I had forgotten here last night and I pick it up.
I open it up and swipe to my contacts to see multiple missed messages.
Unknown
It's cool if I just collect my payment later today right?

On my way.
9:26
I look at the time to see it's already 10:00 AM.
I have been needing a good time to pay him but god he can be annoying. And now is really not a good time, but oh fucking well.
Me
Has anyone ever told you that you can be so damn annoying sometimes?
10:01
Unknown
Has anyone ever told you that you need to spend less time with you fuck toy, Goerge and more time answering your goddamn phone?
10:01
Me
He's not a fuck toy. And I think you're forgetting that I don't have to pay you, I could always just kill you, you know.
10:01
Unknown
That'll be sure to get you employee of the month from Techno.
10:02
God I fucking hate him. He's like a teachers pet when it comes to Techno.
But annoying as he is, he gets a job done, which is why I hired them in the first place.
I roll my eyes and set my phone down.
And decide to finish off my waffles and just forget about the situation until it actually matters.
Time Skip around 4 hours
George POV
We watched a couple of movies and finished our waffles ages ago. Somewhere between the middle and end of the last movie we watched, Dream grabbed his mask from somewhere and sat it on the arm of the couch for some reason. But I payed no attention to it.
With the atmosphere calm around us I felt comfortable enough to relax into the sofa imagining myself melting into the soft cushions.
So indulged in the movie, I nearly jumped out of my skin when I heard something from behind me coming from the front of the house.
After a few moments the shock began to wear off and the realization hit me.
The sound...
Was a knock...
But how could that be? We're out in the middle of nowhere?
"Stay here, George. And don't you dare make a move off this couch." Dream said after a moment before putting on his mask which sat beside him.
Too confused to get out any words I just silently nodded as Dream got up to answer the door.
I sit almost frozen in place aside from my shallow breathing and head turning, curious but also scared to see who knocked on Dream's door.
Dream makes it to the door and pulls a key out of his pocket and unlocks the door. The next things happen almost in slow motion as Dream reaches for the door handle, twists it and pulls the heavy wooden door open.
"You know you really are just a massive dickhead." Dream is the first to speak while blocking my view of the person standing at the door.
"C'mon man, you know you love me." The voice says.
Wait... It sounds... Almost familiar? But I can't quite place my finger on it... How could this be? No one I know would ever associate themselves with Dream.
"No. I really don't, let's just get this over with, wait here, I'll go get the money." Dream says and turns around revealing the owner to the voice who rolls their eyes as Dream rushes up stairs.
I instantly freeze and my eyes blow wide in shock while Dream heads down the hallway.
I instantly jump up from my place on the couch and stare in disbelief while said blond jumps slightly startled but otherwise maintains a bored expression.
"Wh-what are you doing here?" I ask as my shock fades into confusion.
"Getting my payment of course." Punz answers as if it were obvious.
"I-I what? P-Punz you have to help me! I-I- Dream- h-he kidnapped me! You have to help me!" I say as my feet stay planted on the floor while by brain is too busy processing the situation and trying to contain my stutter.
"Yeah, no shit, Sherlock. Took him long enough, and no, I don't have to help you." Punz answers as he checks his watch before crossing his arms.
"W-what do you mean?" I ask as my brows furrow as tears threaten my wide eyes.
Punz rolls his eyes seemingly fed up with the situation before he stomps towards me causing me to start stumbling back but not being quick enough as he grasps a firm hold on my jaw.
"I mean I helped him, Einstein." He looks into my eyes with anger and a hint of disgust.
Before I'm able to process, much less react, Dream enters the room.
"What is going on here?" He asks with a threatening tone.
"Nothing." Punz says with his voice lacking emotion while his anger filled eyes tell a different story as they continue to stare into my terrified ones.
"Good, then I suppose you'll be fine with just getting the fuck out of my house." Dream's voice drips with anger but I could tell he was holding back.
Punz's everlasting grip remaining on my jaw.
"But why..." I whisper so only he can hear.
A small smirk makes it's way to his face only to grow.
"Money."
His grip on my jaw releases itself and my hand immediately rubs it as I look downwards.
I look at Dream for the first time since he left and I see him holding an open brief case filled with cash.
A sudden thought sparks in my mind and my eyes flicker to the door Punz happened to leave wide open when he came inside.
The adrenaline starts pumping and I can hear my heart beating like a drum.
Ba dum...
Ba dum...
Ba dum...
My eyes flicker to Punz and Dream as their attention stays occupied by the transaction as Punz looks through the money to make sure it's all there. The open door standing a good 20 feet away from them going unnoticed.
Ba dum.
Ba dum.
Ba dum.
This could be my only chance. But if it fails it could go horribly wrong and I don't even want to imagine what Dream would do to me.
But if I could... I could see Wilbur and hopefully help the cops catch this green obsessed bastard and apparently Punz.
I think I know what I have to do.
At this point Dream is handing the now closed brief case to Punz and knowing I have not a single second more to spare...

Prerequisites for Greatness (RWBY)
Jaune always knew that being a hero meant going on adventures, sometimes very far from home. He just hadn't thought he would start so early, or so far. Sadly he wasn't high level enough to learn teleportation, nor did life have an easily accessible mount option. His own two legs and an occasional donkey would have to do. Medieval setting; gamer Jaune. You don't need to know anything about the RWBY universe to read this.

The Dog with a Chair
As of now, this story is dropped. It was an excellent learning experience, but the quality suffered too much from me trying new things for me to continue in good concience. Thanks to anyone that read it. I'm leaving this story up as a record of my first ever attempt at publishing something I've wrote. To any new writers out there, remember that even if the stuff you write is trash, you can still learn a lot from writing it. - November 17th 2020 Guy gets involved in advocacy for civil engineering projects, then gets pulled into an interdimensional war. Third person with a focus on one main character (Stanley) with the occasional point of view from another character important to story progression. Writing style tends to shift early on as I figure out how to write (this is my first book). Still learning, hoping to improve. Current style choice is to have a focus on character dialogue/actions with interspersed internal monologue in italics. No current end is set for the story, with the primary goal of this project being to learn to express myself in a written format. Storyline is kept as consistent as practical while covering things I find interesting. Governmental systems are mentioned, but not explained in extreme detail. Sci fi elements are used to reinforce and guide plot progression as I'm able. Personal goals belonging to each character are in the process of being developed, with the hope that they will support or oppose each other in interesting ways later on. Hope you enjoy :)
