《Good Looking》XXIII. Mama Knows Best
Advertisement
Thanks for the advice mama, I really needed this.
So after the text that Miguel had sent probably on purpose or on accident, I had to go tell my mom just so that she could help me out with everything.
I didn't know what to do because this would be my first relationship and I wanted my mom's input.
"Mom, I need your advice and please be honest about it."
I grabbed my mom's hand and walked her upstairs and into my bedroom because everyone knows that when you're going to spill tea, you need to do it in yourbbedroom.
So as my mom sat down on my bed, I took a deep breath and showed her the message.
"Oh wow, that's amazing news honey!"
My mom was so happy with the message, but that didn't stop my heart from beating so fast.
"Yeah it's great news and all, but this could've been a joke."
I told my mom, she looked at me and nodded her head.
She's been through this before, someone in highschool texted her as a joke and she was humiliated.
When she told me the story, I felt bad for her because she didn't really need to be humiliated, if you don't like someone be kind and straight forward about it.
If you're just bored and playing with their feelings, don't get surprised when someone does the same thing back to you, what goes up, must come down.
"Well, maybe you should tell him?"
That was the worst thing my mom told me, I looked at her with a bored look on my face and when she said those words, I pursed my lips in a thin line and shook my head.
"I don't want him to feel embarrassed because he texted me instead of one of his friends, that's pretty much embarrassing."

I told my mom so she would understand, my mom slowly nodded her head and smiled as she began to lay down on my bed and sigh.
We sat there in silence, trying to figure out what to say or do because this seems like a dilemma.
"Okay, there's no easy to sugar coat it but you need to tell him about your feelings. Keeping this inside isn't going to be healthy for you."
My mom told me, I looked at her and nodded slowly, I couldn't say anything or deny it because she was right.
Maybe he told me this so I could gather the courage and tell him what I was feeling, I laid down and closed my eyes trying to picture how to tell him.
"Look, it's obvious he likes you and I know that you like him so don't keep this little charade up from too long."
When did she become so wise? This is the same mother that didn't know how to cook chicken correctly, now she's like Yoda.
My mom smiled at me and got up from the bed, she kissed my forehead and walked to the door.
Thanks for the advice mama, I really needed this.
My mom smiled at me and walked out of my room, leaving me to think about how I'd tell my crush that I liked him.
I would call up my friends and ask them for help but they're all busy trying to get with their crushes and Angie and Kyla are probably being single together.
My mom knows best and I guess I need to take her advice and confess before he decides that he doesn't really like me and moves on.
I covered myself with a weighted blanket and laid down on my fluffy pillow, how does one actually confess their feelings without seeming awkward?

"Try texting him back, pretend that you didn't get the message."
Val told me as she painted my nails, I called her over so she could help me out with this.
I know Marcy is busy getting ready for the date she has with Brady tonight, Angie and Kyla are hanging to get rid of the single syndrome.
"That's not a bad idea, but shouldn't I just tell him I saw it and then confess my feelings before he gets embarrassed or weird?"
I asked my best friend, she looked at me and nodded her head but I know she didn't want me to do that.
"You can do that, but why don't you tell him during the carnival that opens in August? That'll be a romantic scenery for it."
Val told me, I looked at her and raised my eyebrows.
Since when did she become a love guru, I swear everyone starting something new these days and it's so noticeable.
"That's a great idea, how did you come up with that?"
I asked my best friend, she looked at me and laughed before putting the nail polish away.
"Marcy, she usually gives the best relationship or confessing advice."
Val answered my questions with a laugh following after, I smiled at her and grabbed her hand before taking her to my window.
You see, Val and I have a special thing where whenever it's just us hanging out, we go up to my roof and spill our guts about things that the other girls don't know about.
At first I thought it was a toxic thing to do but it isn't, I think it's good to confide in one person for different things but it's also better to keep some of the stuff that happens to you, to yourself.
Once we were on top of my roof, we stared at the sky before thinking of something to say.
"Well, I'm gay."
I blurted out to the silence that was becoming tension for literally no reason.
"Like i didn't know that, but okay. I support you."
Val told me, I smiled at her before staring at the sky.
There wasn't anything to talk about that none of the girls knew about, do we spent the day there in silence.
But in all honesty, I'd be lying if I didn't say I was nervous about telling Miguel about my feelings and about his text.
I'm pretty sure anyone would be nervous about my situation, you're nervous just thinking about it.
