Chapter 18, First Date

You think it's easy learning new recipes to cook? I'm an actress babe, not a chef.

"Do you think your mom would date me?"

Angie asked me as I looked through my drawer, searching for a book that I so desperately needed.

I stopped what I was doing and looked back to glads at her disgustingly, can people stop hitting on my mother?

"Angie, stop trying to get with my mom."

I turned around and continued the search for the lost book, shuddering every now and then at the thought of my best friend and mom dating.

I swear, they take age ain't nothing but a number way too seriously.

"What are you looking for anyways?"

Val asked me as she walked back into my room, I sighed and closed the drawers before walking to my bed and getting on my knees to search for the book that was probably hidden under my bed.

"A book, a book that was given to me and now it's misplaced which means that I've lost a book that someone gave me."

"Jeez, was just asking what was driving you mad."

Val muttered as she walked over to my desk and sat down on my swivel seat, I rolled my eyes and decided that if I wanted to get the book then I needed to get under my bed.

I had everything under here I don't know why, I'm just a little messy when it comes to the under of my bed.

Finally, the light has came to me and I finally found the book that I was looking for.

I smiled and grabbed it before moving myself from under the bed, I sat on my bed and smiled at the book that rest upon my hands.

"Rei, the wedding book.. again?"

Marcy asked me as she walked into the room with Kyla, I looked at her and shushed her before opening the book and staring at the photos that were glued in it.

Even though I resent my father and wish that he and my mother never met, that didn't mean I hated the fact that they got married.

That makes no sense, does it?

He hurt me and it made me hate him and it made me hate the fact that he met mom, but they're relationship was so beautiful.

That and because if they never met then people wouldn't have known Aurelia Carmen Kingsley, and I'm such a blast to be around.

As I flipped through the pages of my mother's relationship/wedding scrapbook, I heard footsteps coming this way.

My mother's intentions were to throw this book away, but I couldn't let her do it so I took it and hid it away so that it wouldn't be thrown away.

Like I had said earlier, she was going insane and throwing everything that reminded her of dad, I don't blame her either.

I got up from the bed and slid the book under it before sitting back on my bed and grabbing the remote, if there's one thing that I can do, it's act nonchalant when my mom's around.

"Hey honey, Miguel's downstairs, he wants to ask you something very important."

My mom informed me before winking and walking out of my room, I felt small little butterflies in my stomach before getting up from the bed and walking downstairs.

Sure enough, Miguel was sitting on the couch talking to Venus, they seemed to be getting along which was a little strange considering the fact that Venus doesn't like meeting people or new people.

"Hey, you wanted to ask me something?"

I greeted the boy, he whipped his head over to me so fast that made it seem like he caught whiplash for a second.

Venus wiggled her eyebrows before getting up from the couch, I nudged her as she walked past me.

"Oh yeah, I was wondering if you wanted to hangout? But it's like just the two of us."

Did I just get asked out by my crush? Also does this mean that he also likes me back?

I sat down beside him and took a deep breath before accepting the hangout, I smiled at him.

"Does this mean that this is a date?"

I asked him, I knew that it was most likely a date but I wanted to hear him say it from the bottom of his heart and deep into his soul, because who doesn't do that?

Miguel fidgeted with his fingers as he nodded.

"Great, did you tell my mom and sister about this?"

I asked Miguel, I needed to know if he did because I swear those two are acting as if we were getting married.

Miguel smiled and nodded, I laughed a bit and we spoke a little bit before my mom walked downstairs.

"Did she say yes?"

My mom asked Miguel, I looked at her and scoffed playfully before Miguel squealed like a little girl and said yes.

I watched as my mother and my crush grabbed each other's hand and have a fan girl moment over the fact I said yes.

"You guys can have the date here, I'll make dinner and you can have a little movie date here."

That wasn't a bad suggestion from my mother, I looked at Miguel who looked at me before agreeing to the proposal.

So now Miguel walks home and I'm upstairs freaking out over what outfit to wear, although the date is downstairs and in my own house, didn't mean I didn't want to stay in pajamas.

"Take a deep breath and go take a shower, I'll pick out an outfit for you so you don't have any stress pimples on you."

Kyla told me as she hugged me, I hugged her back tightly before walking to the bathroom to take a nice relaxing shower.

I thank the universe for leading me to my best friends, they always know how to make me feel better when I feel like my back's against the wall.

When I got out the shower, I wrapped myself with a towel and walked into my room.

Marcy was downstairs helping my mom learn how to cook while Angie and Val were setting up the living room to look date ready.

"I'll be outside, let me know if the outfit's a bit much and I'll look for another one."

Kyla told me as she hugged me again and then walked outside of my bedroom, she closed the door.

I fell in love with the outfit, I walked outside of my room but Kyla wasn't beside the door.

So I walked downstairs where Marcy and my mom were found arguing about the food, they weren't arguing arguing but like laughing.

My mom said, I laughed at her which caused all the girls to stop what they were doing to look at me and just stare.

Feeling a little uneasy with the staring, I sat down at the island and did a fake cough.

"You look gorgeous Rei, I'm sure he'll fall in love with you."

My mom complimented me which opened the flood gate to the compliments, Val smiled at me and hugged me as well.

When there was a knock on the door, I took a deep breath and smiled at my mom before walking to the door and opening it.

Miguel smiled at me and we hugged each other before allowing him inside, the dinner was served on the table and I could feel my heart race.

Hopefully after this date, he would maybe like me.

It's all up to the universe now.
