Chapter 14, Bad News or Worse News

Is there a reason on why you're still focusing on this?

It's the day after the movies and I was currently spilling the tea to my mom, I told her about how the movie went and how they were starring in it.

She did the most dramatic face expressions but it was normal, I laughed at it and smiled as I continued on about the topic.

"Your head is in the clouds whenever you think about him, did you know that?"

My mom suddenly blurted out, I looked at her as my cheeks went a crimson red.

I didn't know that, although there's moments where I'd space out and think about it, can't believe I was that noticeable.

"I hadn't realized, I sort of knew it was a crush when I was hanging out with Venus.."

Finally, the truth came out and exposed itself to my mother.

When I tell you she let out a banshee squeal, I mean she did.

I laughed at her excitement and got up from the couch, we normally have our tea time in the living room with Jerry Springer or Steve Wilkos playing in the back ground for dramatic effect.

I walked to the kitchen to grab a snack with my mother trailing behind me, my mom sat at the island and placed her elbows on the table with her head resting in her hands as she watched me grab a snack.

"So, do your little friends know about your crush on Miguel?"

My mom asked me, I shrugged my shoulders only because they knew everything about me so it's not impossible or weird if they did know about the crush.

Although I probably did tell them at one point, they probably already knew and would gloat about it every chance they get.

I grabbed a rice krispie treat, it's not my favorite snack but mom bought a whole bunch because Venus and I said that they tasted so good.

After our tea time, I walk upstairs and go into my bedroom to change out of my pajamas.

As I did so, I got a phone call which always bothers me whenever I'm about to do something.

I grabbed my phone to see who was calling me, it was Valentina.

"What is it Val? I'm trying to get dressed."

My tone was dry, I didn't really want to stay on phone call with anyone since I was going to see them in person anyways.

Val, she gasped dramatically and went on a rant on how I should be more appreciative about her calling me and gracing me with her presence, how does one become so dramatic?

"Sorry, sorry, Jesus.. anyways what's up?"

I asked as I put her on speaker, she took a deep breath which was necessary because she coughed it out.

I'd be lying if I said that I didn't laugh at her choking on her own air.

"Mason is the Thames dude on Mortal Kombat!"

She finally spat out, I dropped my jaw for like two seconds before picking it back up and changing into a cute outfit that wasn't pink because I was low-key getting exhausted of wearing pink everyday.

I decided to stick to the Regina George rule, Wednesdays pink and every other day is a different shade of a color.

"Well at least you know he's not some eighty year old weirdo, good for you! Can I hang up now?"

I congratulated her on making a friend her age and that isn't a creep but like I said, I didn't want to stay on the phone because I'd be seeing her in like fifteen to twenty minutes from now.

Val sighed and continued ranting on about how she didn't even think twice about him being the player she was talking to, then she gushed about getting his number and all his socials.

Wait, wait, wait...

Did I just say that Val was gushing over Mason, a boy?!?!

Okay hell has frozen over, I got an A in algebra and my mother suddenly knows how to cook!

"Val, hold the phone.. Are you, crushing over Mason?"

It was now or never and I seriously needed to know the answer to my question, I mean if there's a slight chance that I get with Miguel then Val has an even bigger chance to get with Mason.

Val is hotter than me and everyone could see it, well except her because she needs some glasses.

"Woah, hold on, am I?"

Val slowed down to analyze her feelings over, she went silent and so did I, I wanted to give her some peace and quiet so she could think.

I wonder if the boys do this as well, they think they like a girl or a boy and they have to think over it just to be sure.

"Yeah, sadly I have a crush on mouse boy.."

Val finally admitted breaking the silence, I couldn't even keep a straight face when she said that, I laughed.

When I stopped laughing, Val went back to ranting over the fact she has a crush on someone who can play the game just as good as she can.

Is there a reason on why you're still focusing on this?

I asked as I finally finished getting ready, speaking to Val is fun except when you want some peace and quiet or just don't want to be on the phone at all.

"Not really, I kind of just miss talking to you."

Val sheepishly confessed to me, I felt my heart melt a bit.

"Well since we're telling who we like, I have a crush on Miguel."

I told my best friend as I put my heart earrings on, Val began to go on a rant about me liking her crush's best friend and that me and Miguel would be cute together.

Oh lord, this girl is going to be the death of me and the cause of me going deaf.

Aurelia's Outfit

I walked downstairs and told Val that I'll call her back, we said our goodbyes and hung up the phone.

Venus was sitting on the couch, rewatching Chowder for the fortieth time this lifetime.

"Sup Vee."

I greeted my younger sister as I sat beside her, she looked away from the tv and smiled at me before repositioning herself.

She was now sitting in a criss cross position and her focus was more on me than the tv.

"So, did you tell mom about your crush on Marcus?"

Venus asked, still getting Miguel's name wrong.

She's doing this on purpose now because when I gave her a look, she began to laugh.

"Miguel and yes I did, she was really happy about it as well."

I told my sister, Venus chuckled and smiled before looking back at the TV.

"You know, you're not as annoying to be around."

I teased my sister before getting up from the couch and throwing a pillow at my sister, Venus got up from the couch and chased me around.

Laughter bubbled up from my throat and left my mouth, Venus and I ran around the kitchen until we laughed too hard that we tripped on our own legs.

The floor was very cold, but that's what happens when you and your siblings get along, doesn't happen often as well.

I helped Venus up and hugged her before walking out of the house, I was more than happy to finally get along with my sister and have the bond I've always wanted.

When I got outside, all my friends were there but they were definitely out of breath and their bikes were anywhere to be found.

I laughed at the sight of them because they never like working out or exercise.

"What happened?"

I asked as I chuckled, Angie walked up close to me and then looked behind her as the girls which was a tiny bit confusing but then again, Angie was probably gonna gush about my mom.

"I have bad news, or maybe it's worse news, I don't know!"

Angie said in a panicky tone, I looked at her and placed my hands on her shoulders so she could a take a deep breath.

I looked at the girls and they all shared the same, worried facial expression which was sort of starting to worry me now.

"Angie, just take your time to tell me."

I comforted my best friend, Angie never liked confrontation and she didn't like being the one to be the bearer of bad news.

"Miguel has a girlfriend."

Angie finally spat out, my smile didn't slowly fade like it normally would, it dropped harder than my grade in algebra.

"What?"
