《Outlander》Chapter 16

"Where are you going?" James asked, "Orphanage. One of the kids there will celebrate her tenth birthday and she personally invited me. Who am I to decline?" I answered, "Today is also my mother's birthday." I mumbled.
"Do you need more fabric?" He asked as I narrowed my eyes, "Why?" I asked, "Your top, it's showing some skin." He replied as I looked down and laughed.
"It's called crop top for a reason." I answered as he placed his hand under his chin, "Don't worry dad, I'll wear a cardigan." I teased, hearing a scoff from him.
"Okay, just be careful." He said, "Maybe I should learn how to sew some clothes." He mumbled as he left, shaking my head and smiling at what I heard.
Hearing a honk, I smiled, grabbed and wore the cardigan and went downstairs, "I'll probably come home late." I said, earning their attention.
"James! Someone is outside." Fergus said as both of them peeked at the window.
James marched towards the door and opened it as the three of us followed behind him.
The three of them froze seeing who was standing in front of them, laughing at them as I patted their shoulders.
"We better get going." I said, "Young lady, you've got some explaining to do." James remarked, after recovering from the shock, nodding my head and saluting at him.
"Later." I replied, looking at Tony as he offered his hand. Chuckling at him, placing my hand to his and kissing my hand.
My eyes widened, glancing back at the three, seeing shock and disbelief in their eyes and their jaws dropping.
Walking towards his car, opening the door for me and saying my thanks. Tony hurriedly went to the other side, started the engine and drove away.
Feeling a hand on my thigh, I looked down and saw it was Tony's hand, raising my eyebrows as I looked at him.
He briefly glanced at me with a smirk, "What?" He asked, shaking my head as he squeezed my thigh, earning a giggle from me.
"Where do you wanna go?" He asked, "I'm going to buy some flowers for the birthday girl." I replied as he nodded his head.
"We can also buy the children some toys." He stated as I nodded my head, "Sure. It's not my money we're spending anyway." I replied, hearing a chuckle from him and his hand continued caressing my thigh.
☘
My jaw dropped seeing the amount of things Tony bought.
"This is too much." I mumbled as he glanced at me and lightly tapped my nose, "Bunny, no biggie." He answered, looking at him as he gave me a wide grin.

Hearing the total amount, my eyes widened as Tony casually gave his black card to the cashier.
"I already told Pepper to arrange a children's party." He said, "Do you want to buy anything?" He asked, shaking my head, "Some other time then. We have to go if we want to be there on time." He added as I nodded my head still speechless from what just happened.
Damn, perks of being a billionaire.
Placing a hand on my lower back as he guided me towards his car, putting the toys on the trunk and on the backseat, he opened the door for me, smiling at him as he placed a kiss on my cheeks.
Chuckling at what he did as he quickly entered the other side, assisting me with my seat belt and placing a quick kiss on my cheeks.
"Excuse me, Mr. Stark-" pausing as Tony glanced at me with a smirk, "Yes Mrs. Stark, any problem?" He asked as I smiled and shook my head.
Lifting my head up as my eyes widened, Tony's face was in front of me, feeling his breath fanning my face and our lips centimeters apart.
Reaching his hand and running his thumb on my lips, "Is your lips okay now? I clearly remember how swollen it was yesterday." He stated and stared at my lips.
"And whose fault is that?" I asked as he smiled, "Then arrest me for I am guilty as charged." He responded.
☘
Biting my lips, running my hand through my hair feeling a sudden urge of uneasiness in my body.
"Are you okay?" Tony asked, "No, I'm not. I'm nervous. My hands are sweating and relentless." I answered as he intertwined his hands with mine.
Bringing it closer to him as he kissed my hand, "Relax, bunny. Take a deep breath. Inhale. Exhale." He said as I obliged.
Later on, my eyes widened seeing black smoke from a distance, fire trucks, and ambulances rushing towards the place.
"Can you speed up?" I asked as Tony obliged and pressed the gas. Arriving at the orphanage, my breath hitched and hurriedly got out of the car.
Watching the building as fire engulfed it from all sides. There was fire everywhere; the roof was on fire, the doors and windows were on fire, fire was even coming out of the building through various openings.
My eyes begin to sting as flashes of unwanted memories rush in my mind, remembering what happened to Nanay and Abuelo.
The flames burned deep red and amber, almost livid purple as I saw various firefighters trying to put out the fire. Flames licking up in the air with the wind, trying to catch something else on fire, and finding nothing but air, disappearing into the windy night, like disappointed flutters.

"My mother-in-law and father-in-law are inside. Let me through." Da stated as firefighters stopped him from going inside, "Nanay. Abuelo." I mumbled as I walked towards the burning house and reached out my hand.
Looking at the side, "Let me go. My mother and my father are inside." Ma said as tears trickled down my cheeks, looking back at the house, I continued to walk, Claude grabbed my arm as our eyes met and shook his head.
"But Nanay and Abuelo are inside, we have to get them." I said as Claude hugged me. "Claude, we have to get them." I added as his hold tightened.
Hearing Ma and Da crying, Claude covered my ear, lifted my head up, he smiled at me and kissed my forehead as my tears streamed like a river realizing that Nanay and Abuelo didn't survive.
Looking at the full-blown inferno in front of me. My body froze seeing Claude rushed inside, my body moved on its own following him.
Feeling someone grab my arm, "Let go of me." I stated in a low tone, "It's dangerous." Tony argued, "I don't care. Claude is inside and I won't let him die just like my grandparents." I replied, swatted his hands away and hurriedly followed Claude.
As I successfully avoided the firefighters, shrugging off my cardigan using it to cover my nose and mouth, I quickly maneuvered my way inside.
"Claude!" I called and continued to find him, making my way towards his room and opening the door, there he was, sitting and firmly clutching something on his chest.
Immediately marched towards him and grabbing his shoulders, Claude jolted and looked at me, opening my arms as he quickly clung onto me.
"Don't worry. I'll make sure you're okay." I mumbled, tightly holding him and covering his mouth and nose with my cardigan, standing up and stepping back as a burning debris fell down, exhaling a breath as I roamed my eyes around, finding a route for an exit.
Coughing and shaking my head as I began to feel dizzy, maneuvering and avoiding the falling debris, biting my lip as I hissed, ignoring the pain and pushed through seeing an exit.
Hearing Claude crying in my arms, "It's okay. Almost there, buddy. We're going to be okay." I muttered and walked towards an opening, stepping back as debris fell down, hissing feeling something hit my arm.
Come on, Via. Hurry.
With a few steps we were outside, a firefighter immediately approached us and carefully grabbed Claude from me as Tony hugged me, "Don't ever do that again." He mumbled and tightened his hug.
Exhaling a breath as I hugged him back, leaning my head to his shoulder and cried. Tony let go and lifted my head, "Are you okay?" He asked.
"I thought I'm going to lose him too." I replied as Tony grabbed his phone.
"JARVIS assess any injuries in her body now." Tony commanded, "Right away sir." JARVIS replied.
"She has first-degree burns on her arms and legs sir." JARVIS stated as Tony carefully carried me, Pepper and Happy found us, "Oh My God! Are you okay, Via?" Pepper asked, "I'm fine, Pepper." I answered.
"Claude." I mumbled as Tony looked at me, "I have to check if he's okay." I added, "He's going to be okay." Tony replied, "I have to see it with my own eyes." I argued.
"We need to immediately tend to your burns." Tony responded, authority in his voice, "I can't lose him, Tony. Not now." I mumbled as our eyes met.
"I'm a doctor. I have a duty to check anyone who's injured." I stated as Tony's gaze hardened, "I won't let you go, knowing you're injured." He countered as we continued to stare at each other.
"The medic just arrived. Let Tony tend your wounds. Happy and I will personally check Claude if he's okay." Pepper suggested, looking at her as she nodded her head.
Exhaling a breath, "Okay." I replied as they smiled and left. Tony carried me towards his car, grabbing his phone and pressing a button, the roof automatically retracted.
Opening the backseat door and carefully placing me down, "Stay right there." He said, "I'll get some first aid kit." He added and ran towards the medic.
Seconds later, Tony returned with a bunch of medical supplies, "That's a lot." I commented, hearing him scoff.
Tony grabbed a scissor and cut my pants, my eyes widened at what he did, "What the hell are you doing?" I asked as he looked at me, "Treating you." He answered, placing a cold bottled water on my burn.
"I'm okay." I said, "I'm not." He countered and looked at me, "I almost died seeing you inside the building. What you did was so stupid, Via." He added, biting my lips as I looked down.
"I'm sorry." I muttered as tears trickled down my cheeks, hearing him sigh, Tony hugged me as I continued to cry in his arms.

Gamer
This story is abandoned and has not been authorized for distribution on any sites but RoyalRoad. Given the Gamer ability after shattering a crystal inside a game, Jon's world is upturned as he is thrown into a life he considered fantasy. Making new enemies and encountering a god, he cannot escape the quest which is forced on him. Different worlds and different situations, can he come out on top? He's neither perfect nor a saint, he is Jon. Welcome to Gamer. This has been dropped, I didn't like the way I forced a few plotpoints and I lost my notes on the story itself. Read below if you want to be spoilered. As far as I recall, he would change race into a higher human after using a spell to overload his mana repeatably until his body forcibly adapts, he would train up his rift usage spell with some better targets than God's Realm because he keeps hitting his stats limit until the cost lowers enough that he can actually grind it. His world is being invaded by multiple worlds, so the god had many backup plans where a lot of people went into their own fantasy settings and came back to defend Earth. Jon never is the strongest one out there, he has to keep grinding and grinding before he gets stronger than the other heroes, and at that point the invasion is nearing the final stretch. Jon's two biggest advantages is that he can keep grinding without hitting a cap he can't evolve, and that even when he is eventually killed. He would have respawned in the nearest 'Safe Zone' after dropping a level and everything he did to gain that level. I also had a bunch of ideas for mini-arcs where he would play in multiple worlds in multiple situations, not that great of an idea in retrospect.
