《Michael and Sara One-Shots (Misa)》2x20 We've Got To Go Back (Pt. 3)

Sara followed closely behind Michael as they walked through the woods about two miles away from her apartment. Every few minutes she would trip over a rock or a fallen branch and every time he would turn to catch her before she fell.
"As you can tell, I'm not the hiking type." she said with a small laugh. He smiled at her and put his hand in hers. "In your defense it is pitch black out here." he said reassuringly. She rolled her eyes playfully, knowing he couldn't see her face.
"The ship won't leave again for another two days." Michael told her as they turned to avoid the trees in their path. "We're going to need to find a place to hide soon. Tomorrow they will find out that you're no longer in your apartment and come looking for us." Michael explained to her. Sara acknowledged him and she began daydreaming of their life together after the next two days.
A good hour had passed before she ran straight into the back of Michael. "Why'd we sto–" she started but Michael covered her mouth with his hand. He forced her down to the ground alongside him. She felt all the air escape her lungs as she listened carefully. The sound of sirens grew louder and louder until they could hear the cars come to a stop by the road closest to them. "We need to go. NOW." Michale said while getting off the ground. He heard doors opening and men shouting as they started to run into the woods near them.
"Lets go!" he yelled and took her hand. They ran through the woods at full speed trying desperately to loose the cops following behind. It was still dark out and they both stumbled a bit over the rocks. Michael looked back to see if they were still being followed. The sounds of yelling were gone now. "How did they find us?" he asked.
"I have no idea." Sara replied breathlessly. They had been running for a good thirty minutes but they couldn't shake the cops off their trail.
"We need to keep going." Michael said while speeding up again. "There's a small cabin thats about five miles away. Its pretty well hidden so we shouldn't have any problems." Sara nodded and ran with Michael. She looked back again but she didn't see anything. She prayed Mahone didn't find them for fear he would keep his promise to her.

By the time they reached the cabin, they had officially lost the cops and they were both exhausted. The sun peaked through the trees slightly as Michael picked some berries for breakfast. By the time he went back inside Sara was fast asleep. He smiled tiredly and watched her. He was so grateful that she was released. How, he had no idea. But he was happy. All they needed to do was get through until tomorrow morning. Then they would be free.
Michael wasn't sure when he had fallen asleep, but he knew that it was the most peaceful he had been since he broke out of prison.
A slight rustling woke Michael and he opened his eyes to see Sara just waking up. He smiled as he watched her open her eyes. "Good morning." he said sleepily. She smiled and moved closer to him. He reached up and kissed her lips. "Good morning." she replied.
Michael reached over to check the time. 2:53. He read. They still had plenty of time to kill. He smiled at Sara and got up out of the bed. "Come on." he said to her. "I want to show you something." She nodded and got up to follow him. He took her hand and led her outside.
The view was absolutely beautiful. Trees surrounded them while the sun peaked through the leaves and warmed her skin. She breathed in and felt the cool, sweet air fill her lungs. "I haven't been camping in years." She said while looking at Michael. He chuckled. "I'd say this is far from camping." he replied with a grin. She laughed and he took her hand again.
"Going for another hike are we?" she asked him after a couple minutes of walking.
"It's just over here. Not much further." he replied. She followed him excitedly, waiting for what she was about to see. Within a few more minutes her jaw dropped completely. Before her laid an open field with the entire forest surrounding it. A beautiful stream ran through the center of the field with a small pool in the middle. Flowers filled the gaps of the field.
"It's beautiful." she whispered to him. Michael's gaze never left her face. he was awestruck by her beauty and he forever wanted to stay in this moment with her. She looked at him, happiness filled her eyes. He reached over and took her face in his hands. He kissed her gently, savoring every moment with her.

They spent the rest of the afternoon messing around in the small stream. Her laughter filled the air as she made countless memories with him whether it was as simple as pushing him into the stream or talking together to get to know more about his life. She listened intently as he shared his childhood memories. He was careful to avoid the ones that would darken the mood. Instead he talked about Lincoln and what they would do when they were kids.
The hours passed by quickly while Michael and Sara laid together in the open field. Her head rested calmly on his chest while she slept peacefully. Michael looked out towards the forest thinking about the past times that he was here.
A few more moments passed by before something shiny caught Michael's focus. He turned to look at the forest on the other side of the plain. He squinted his eyes and a light blinded him again. He looked closer again and saw something move slightly.
"Sara." he said cautiously. She moved her head slightly but not waking up completely. "Sara." he said more urgently while shaking her slightly. Her eyes shot open and she looked at his face. A gun was shot, startling both of them and they got up immediately. About a dozen cops from each side of the forest surrounding the plain revealed themselves and were headed straight for the pair. Michael took Sara's hand and they began to run.
"Michael what are we going to do?" Sara called to him as they were running. The cops were closing in on them fast. Sara swore she caught a glimpse of Mahone chasing after them and it chilled her to the bone. They couldn't be caught.
"They are blocking our way back to the cabin. We'll have to lead them away." Michael called out to her just loudly enough so she could hear." She silently agreed with him as they made it to the edge of the field and back into the forest.
They continued running for what felt like forever. Night had fallen upon them once again as they slowed down for a quick rest.
"How did they find us again?" Michael asked breathlessly.
"The dogs must have picked up our scent again or something." Sara replied. It was her best guess since this had now happened twice. "Do you think we lost them?" she asked Michael.
"I think we did. But just in case we should take the longer way back to the cabin." he replied. She took his hand and they started towards the cabin once again.
Michael scanned the woods anxiously, praying they wouldn't be met with company any time soon. Something didn't feel right but he pushed the thought to the back of his mind. It had been a full day since they had found them. If they were using dogs then that would be expected. he took a deep breath as they reached the cabin. They crouched down behind a few bushes to scan the surrounding area.
"Is it clear?" Sara asked him quietly. If he hadn't been listening he wouldn't have been able to hear her.
"I think so. He whispered back. They made their way over to the cabin door. He pushed Sara behind him and slowly opened the door, in case someone was waiting for them. The cabin was empty. He released a breath he didn't realize he was holding.
"We're safe." He said and they both walked in. He watched Sara closely as she rubbed the back of her head. The tension was starting to get to her. Michael walked up to her and wrapped his arms around her.
"Tomorrow we're out of here. No more running. It'll all be over soon." he promised her. She nodded silently into his chest. "I love you." he whispered to her.
"I love you too." she replied. She released his embrace and climbed into the bed praying they would make it through the night.

Soul Forging
“At this point, humanity has already lost control over its own destiny.” If even a normal college student like Jayce could say such a thing, then things were obviously pretty bad. There, he was given a chance to reflect on a conundrum. Which felt worse? Being summoned to another world as someone else’s gacha prize, or learning that in this world, humans were nothing more than C-Rank trash. Follow one young man’s journey as he struggles from pitiful slavery to reach heights he never could have imagined. Chapters every Wednesday & Saturday.
8 204My guild was transported to another world, but I'm just the Illusionist Enchanter
Skyforge, the virtual reality game of the 22nd century. The NPCs were mostly boring cookie cutter characters, but at least the political and military aspects were amazing. A great guild could build their base any way they wished, take over territories by converting the landstones and lead great armies in massive wars - or wager everything in the great arena. Well, but I'm just an enchanter with a secondary illusion skill tree. In other words, I'm totally dependent on my guild. But since thanks to this guild I could play the way I wish I don't mind. After we were all sent to another world I kind of regretted not being able to play god with the others.

I've been writing for as long as I can remember, but I'd always been torn between different projects. That's why I decided to dedicate myself to a pretty strict schedule of writing and editing a single chapter every month since the start of 2019. This is an ongoing, work in progress novel that follows a ragtag group of sellswords as they delve into a lost city on the edge of the known world in search of their fortunes. Within, though, they find much more than they ever expected and find themselves in a race against time to unravel a mystery centuries old. For those who want to see my work months earlier than it will be released here, alongside exclusive artwork and other perks, consider supporting me and my work on Patreon. https://www.patreon.com/atlaswrites

Disclaimer: I do not own the cover photo and if you are the one who owns it and do not want me to use it, pm me and I'll remove it. Also this is my first novel, I wanna put all the ideas in my head into an actual story so I thought I'd give it a go, constructive criticism is welcome as long as it's helpful. P.s I'm not doing a prologue mainly because all you need to know about how he died is in the Synopsis, I might do a chapter with the council of God's if people want it.

My first attempt at writing a novel so please go easy on me and constructive criticism and ideas are welcome. This is a story about how the world get turned into an RPG like world and how the MC fights back and explores the new/merged world. There are many like this so apologies if it sounds similar to any others but I have read MANY, MANY fantasy and RPG stories as they are my favourite but stick with me and I promise one heck of a unique ride
