《Clace one-shots》The Dreams I Caught {1}

JACE

I always wondered what was in front of her bed frame. The small structure always captured my eye every time I walked into the room. The top was circular with lines of yarn going in every direction. Three small beads hung in the lower right hand side of the yarn. A feather fell outside of the hoop, but was secured tightly with another piece of string. But it wasn't just any type of yarn. It looked like it was used way before our generation. It looked like something you would make baskets out of, but only thinner. It looked beautiful from afar. Even more beautiful up close.

But it wasn't the way it was hanging or the design it held that made it beautiful. What made it beautiful was the fact that Clary would always touch it before she went to sleep, and how she stared at it while drawing. It was something that looked like inspiration to her.

I had seen her drawings before. I always asked her what she was drawing and she would always show me. What made the whole thing so interesting though was the way her drawings always looked sad. It was an emotion that could only been truly shown through pictures. I had always wondered, if her inspirations came from the structure on the wall, which she looked at so fondly, why were her pictures filled with heartbreak?

It was only now when I walked into her room I took the extra step I have always wanted to take. Before I always looked form afar, but today I walked closer.... and closer.... closer until it was right in front of me.

I stared at it just like Clary had. I memorized every dent and every line. I focused on every detail. I wasn't anything close to an artist, but this piece intrigued me. It was almost like it was calling my name. It was begging me to touch it. To feel it under my skin. To be captured by its perfectness.

I took another step closer to the object, if that was even possible. It was so close to me. I could swear I heard whispering coming from it. My mind had been complete focused on it. I reached my hand out slowly.

I wasn't touching it, but my hand was hovering around it. It was almost like I was afraid of something happening. My instincts had never failed me, but in this moment I didn't care what they were telling me.

I pushed my hand closer to the object on the wall.

"JACE DONT!" I heard Clary yell from behind me, but it was to late. My hand touched the structure.

I screamed in pain and fell to the floor. I lost consciousness on the way down.
