JACE

I was walking around the Institute looking for Max. Clary wasn't the only one who wasn't off duty tonight. I sighed as I turned the corner to his room once more. There was still no sign of him. This wasn't the first time he had done something like this. I pulled out my phone and there was still no response to the message I sent him.

I walked out of his room knowing I wouldn't see him again tonight.

"I see you're brother has been taking some lessons from you." I heard a voice say. I turned and saw Lydia walking towards me. "Yeah. Ive been helping him train." I told her. She shook her head and chuckled. "Not the training." She said. "He wont stop talking about that girl." She said with another laugh. I joined in on her laughter. "What can I say? I'm an excellent teacher." She nodded her head not totally convinced.

"Well, I guess it just depends if he gets her." She said. "Is that where he is right now? I haven't been able to find him anywhere. "I asked her. She just nodded. "I guess skipping training sessions were also apart of your wonderful teaching." She said with a mocking smile. I laughed and she walked away.

Since I had the night off now, I decided to go over to grab a drink. There was never much to do anymore without Clary. She always made everything a thousand times better.

I was walking down the street and I walked into an alleyway. I had gone so many times to the Hunter's Moon, I knew all the fast routes.

As I walked, I took in my surroundings. The night was cool and the leaves were blowing. There were small gusts of wind that hit my face as I walked. It was dark in the alleyway, but the stars from the night dimly lit the pathway in front of me.

I heard a small twig snap behind me and all of the sudden my instincts kicked in. Without turning around, I ran forward to get a better advantage point on whoever, or whatever, was behind me.

I could hear someone breathing and it wasn't my own. I could hear the sound getting closer and closer to me. In a split second I ducked and pulled out my Seraph Blade. My attacker came to stop and I turned around. His face was masked and he was slightly taller than me.

He brought out his own weapon and ran closer to me. Our weapons touched making a loud noise in the empty alleyway. The stranger's fighting felt familiar. It reminded him of when I used to train with Alec.

I shook the thought out of my mind and focused on my fighting. I apparently was to late when I felt the sharp, cool blade go through my shoulder. The stranger in front of me backed away and looked up. I fell to the ground and saw a second fighter. He had to of been the one who put the blade through my shoulder.

For a split second there was no pain. But after a few seconds I felt another blade go through my leg and I screamed in pain. "She's already at the house. His friends wont know." I heard one of them say. Immediately I thought of Alec. I knew they were talking about him.

The blade went through my other leg. "ALEC!!" I screamed. I knew he would get the message. I knew he would know that something was wrong.

I could feel the blood pooling out of my wounds. I felt my eyes closing. I tried to fight it, but it felt easier just to give in. It was growing harder and harder with each passing second. "He wants them alive." I heard one of the men say.

"I'm sorry Alec." I whispered to myself. I only hoped that he would be ok.
