I had always like Clary. Ever since she came to stay with us at the Institute I knew I had fallen in love with her. So when she came to me and asked me to go with her, it wasn't a surprise that I said yes.
"Dress casual, but not.... leather. "She said to me while walking up to her room. "Are you going to tell me where we are going?" I asked her. "Nope." She called over her shoulder." I acted as if I wasn't really interested, but inside my heart was beating fast. I ran up the stairs and flew through my door.
After a few moments of getting dressed and putting gel in my hair, I walked back downstairs to meet Clary. I walked outside the Institute and saw her waiting for me on the steps. "Ready?" She asked me. I smiled and nodded. I walked down to where she was and she slipped her hand around my arm.
"Are you going to tell me where we're going now?" I asked again. She smiled and shook her head. I grimaced at her playfully and she giggled. I really loved her, but I didn't know what I was supposed to do. I didn't want to mess up. I pushed my feelings of doubt away as we continued to walk down the street.
We walked in silence for three more blocks. "Here." She said through the silence. She pulled me into the direction of a little building. She stopped right outside the door and turned to me. "Just follow my lead ok?" She said to me. "Oh like last time?" I asked her jokingly. "Don't make me slap you again." She replied with a smirk. I laughed and we walked inside.

"Hello." A lady said behind the counter. I was confused while I looked around the small room. There were decorated cakes and cupcakes everywhere. "Hi!" Clary said to the lady. "Are you Maria? I think we spoke on the phone." She finished. I watched as the lady, who's name was obviously Maria, eyes lit up. "You must be Clary!" Maria exclaimed. "Is this the lucky guy?" She asked while looking at me. I stayed silent and Clary wrapped her arms around me laid her head on my shoulder. "He sure is." She replied excitedly. I was thoroughly confused at that point.
She grabbed my hand and pulled me closer to the counter. "So, we were hoping to try some samples of your cakes so we can decide which one we want for the wedding." She said. She rose up and kissed me on the cheek. Finally I realized what was happening.
"Of course." Maria answered. "When is the wedding?" She asked us. I smiled and wrapped an arm around Clary. "Three months. On the 24th." I answered her. She smiled at us and grabbed the spoons. "What would you like to try first?" She asked.
"Ill try the red velvet." Clary answered. Maria grabbed a small spoon and handed it to her. "And you?" She asked me sweetly. White chocolate raspberry." I replied with a smile. I grabbed my spoon and looked at Clary. She tasted the cake and I watched as her eyes closed in satisfaction. She smiled at me when she reopened her eyes. "That's amazing." She said to me. I chuckled and took a bite into my own sample. As soon as it hit my tongue I felt my own eyes close. "Oh my gosh!" I said to her. Maria was watching us and she chuckled at our reactions

"Could I try another one? I want to make sure I get the full effect before we decide." I said to Maria. She nodded. "Of course! What would you like to try next?" My lips turned upwards and I responded. "Coconut and Lime." I replied. "Pink Champagne." Clary said behind me. I whipped around to look at her and then I looked back at the counter. I was looking for the cake Clary asked for. "Where's that one?" I asked with excitement in my voice. She giggled. "There." She pointed. My mouth was watering.
"Here." Clary said. I turned back to face her and was met with the small spoon pressed against my lips. The cake smeared over my lips and she laughed. "Oh really?" I asked while licking my lips. She tilted her head at me. "Well, if thats how you want to play..." I said. Immediately I took the spoon that was behind my back and it landed on her lips while smearing. I laughed harder than before. She licked her lips as well before laughing again. "That some good cake." She said with a smile. "That it is." I said while taking her hand.
We tried a few more cakes before leaving. "We'll have to talk it over." Clary said to Maria. She nodded at us and we left. We walked out hand in hand and made our way down the street back to the Institute.
"So you convinced me to go with you to act as if we were engaged so that you could try samples of wedding cakes?" I asked her while chuckling. "Yes. There was no way Alec was going to go with me, and come on... you loved it." She said. "There's many things I love." I whispered to myself. "Am I one of those things?" She asked me quietly. I snapped my head up to look at her. Had she hears me?
She waited for me to answer, but we continued to walk. "Yes." I whispered. She was silent for a few seconds, but then a small smile appeared on her face. She stopped and pulled me to a stop with her. She turned me to face her and immediately pressed her lips to mine.
"Thanks for going with me." She said to me. I kissed her again. "Always." I replied. She smiled and we walked with our hands tangled together on our way back to the Institute.
