JACE POV

"Clary, you know I dont do mundane driving." I said to her. She laughed at me. "Oh come on Jace. Its late and it's not that hard. All you have to do it press the gas pedal and then the brake. That's it! Besides, its snowing so no one will be out." She smiled at me. I sighed at her playfully. "Fine!" I said while grinning at her. "Thank you." She replied with a smile.

We got into the freezing cold car and I started it. "Ok." I said unsurely. I looked at her once again. "Are you positive?" I asked her. She laughed again. "Jace, you'll do fine." She said. "Ok." I said again. I turned the car on and put it in reverse. I took a deep breath and pushed lightly on the gas. The car jerked backward.

We both laughed as I pushed the brake pedal down hard. We jerked forward. "You really dont do mundane driving." Clary said while laughing. "I told you!" I said while throwing my hands up into the air. We laughed again. "Alright. Try again." She said.

I nodded my head and pressed lightly on the gas again. We slowly moved backwards and I moved the steering wheel. I smiled as I knew I was getting the hang of it. Once I backed the car out I put it into drive. I looked at Clary. "Here we go." I said. She chuckled and nodded.

We drove for about thirty minutes slowly on the snowy road. No one was out like Clary had said but I was still being as careful as I could. We laughed and talked the entire jerky ride. I finally slowed the car down and we were stopped at a stop light.

"Why are we stopping?" She asked me. I smiled at her. "So I can look at you. I haven't been able to do that for thirty minutes and we still aren't at the apartment." She gave a short laugh and cute smile. "You are so adorable you know that?" She said to me. I sighed playfully and looked at her. "I dont think the word adorable is very fitting. How about handsome, amazing, sweet, smart–" i was interrupted by Clary laughing her head off. "Smart? You were complaining because you didnt know how to drive a car! And adorable is way more fitting than the things you just listed off." She said to me. I couldn't breathe I was laughing so hard.

"I love you." I said to her suddenly returning serious once again. She smiled. "I love you too." She replied. I watched as she took her seat belt off. I looked at her with a confused look. "What are you doing?" I asked her. She grinned at me. "Well I cant really reach you with this stupid seat belt on." She replied. I smiled and she kissed me gently. She laughed against my lips.

In an instant I felt the impact of a car behind us. The glass on the windows shattered. Clary flew out of my arms and my head hit the wheel. The car jerked forward so much we hit a pole on the sidewalk. I heard the sound of more glass breaking. I felt blood trickling down my face and arms. I opened my eyes but everything was blurry. I tried to focus but I couldn't. Everything was spinning. I closed my eyes tightly then opened them again. I caught a glimpse of Clary. Half of her body was out of the car on the hood. I realized the second glass shattering sound was when Clary flew through the glass head first. I tried to get up to help her but I couldn't. Everything went back to spinning. I could hear people screaming our names, but I was so out of it I didnt know what to do.

I kept mumbling Clary's name to see if she was ok but I didnt get a reply. "Jace! Jace, it's ok. You'll be ok." I could hear someone say. I tried to move my head but I couldn't. "Clary." I said before losing all consciousness.
