《Elijah》57

'That's not-...why would he-...' I thought to myself.

"Leyla!" both Eli and Jon called.

"Hm?" I answered.

"Baby, what's wrong?" Eli asked.

"You okay?" asked Jon.

"I'm fine." I replied.

"Hey, I'll have to call you back." I told Jon.

"Sure, no problem."

"And umm...is there a way you can send me the camera image? From that night?" I wondered.

"I think so, I'll try." he stated.

"Okay, great. Bye."

"Bye."

We got off the phone and I saw Eli staring at me with a confused expression.

"Both your mother and mine told me to tell you to marry this man." Kendall came back in and pointed at Eli.

He laughed.

"Alright, fine. I'll admit it," Jesse said as he came back through the sliding door with a snowcone. "This place is awesome." he stated and went back to looking around the house.

"We should do something tonight!" Ken shouted. "Let's go out." she offered.

"Out where?" Eli asked.

"I DON'T KNOW, JUST OUT!" she yelled. "Yea? No?"

"I'm down." Jesse said.

"Alright." Eli agreed.

"Leyla?" Ken asked.

"Hm? Oh, yea, sure." I said then walked off to find me and Eli's room.

It was 8pm and we were all getting ready to go.

"What do you think? Blue dress or pink?" Kendall asked me.

"Uhhhmmm...Pink." I responded while I adjusted mine.

"Great choice."

Kendall put on a short baby pink dress with wide straps that showed a lot of cleavage.

I had on a white dress with thin straps that stopped mid thigh.

We put on our shoes and accessories then left the room. We got dressed in a third room so the boys wouldn't see what we decided to wear until we were ready.

The men were in the kitchen just going through the cabinets and fridge as if we had food.

"There's nothing here except bottled water." Jesse said.

"I know, we have to go to the store tomor-..." they turned around and saw us.

"-row." Eli finished his sentence.

"Hey." Jesse told Kendall as he stared.

"Hi." she replied cutely.

Eli took a deep breath as he looked at me.

"You rendered him speechless." Ken whispered to me.

That was nice but all I could think about was how Eli might have been the one to leave Jon for dead on the side of the road. Injured and drunk off his ass.

"You guys ready?" Ken asked.

"Yea, let's go." Jesse said then he and Kendall headed out the door.

Eli walked towards me.

"Could at least give a guy some warning before you leave him breathless." he joked.

"I'll take that as you like what you see?" I said with a smile and tried to push down the hypothesis that wasn't even proven yet.

"I always do." he said and kissed me.

...

We went to a bar on the beach for dinner.

They took our orders and Jesse and Kendall insisted I drink.

"But..." I rebuttled.

"I know you hate the taste. But if you agree I promise I'll get you something good." Ken said.

"If you hate it then you can get something else. Nonalcoholic." Jesse stated.

"If you don't want to then don't, it's okay." Eli told me.

After listening to all of them I just decided I would and prayed it didn't burn a hole in my throat.

Ken ordered both of us something fruity, Eli had whiskey, and Jesse had a beer.

"How is it?" Ken asked.

"Ehhhhhhhh...It's better than the ones I've had before..." I said as to not hurt her feelings.

I still don't like it though.

"Yay!" she cheered.

After a few minutes I finally got a text from Jon. It was pictures from the street cameras.

That were of Eli.

...

It's been about two hours and Leyla and Kendall were drunk off their asses.

"Do my boobs look lopsided?" Ken asked.

"I don't think so." answered Leyla.

"Babe, do my boobs look lopsided?" she asked Jesse.

"No?"

"Don't lie to me."

Jesse sighed and I couldn't help but laugh.

"Eli, do you think her boobs look lopsided?" Leyla asked me.

"What?-" I asked.

She pointed at Kendall's chest but I didn't look.

"I'm not looking at her chest, Leyla."

"Why not? This is a serious question."

"No."

"Fine. Can I have another...ummm...what is this again?" she said and pointed to her drink.

"No." I repeated.

She crossed her arms and sunk into her seat. "You're so mean to me."

Clearly, she's brattier when she's drunk.

I paid (after a very long argument about them wanting to chip in) and then we headed out.

As soon as we got on the beach Kendall took off running with her shoes in her hands.

"WHERE ARE YOU GOING?!" Jesse yelled.

"I DON'T KNOW!!!" she yelled back and he ran after her.

Why do they become toddlers when they drink?

I felt a tap on my arm and turned to see Leyla looking like she was about to cry.

"Daddy, my feet hurt."

A brat.

"Fine, come here." I sighed and picked her up. She wrapped her legs around my waist and her arms around my neck as she laid her head on my shoulder. Then I continued the walk to the house.

"Thank you." she mumbled.

"Mhm."

"Wait, no thank you, I'm mad at you." she said as I opened the door.

I chuckled. 'That was quick.'

"Mad at me for what, babygirl?" I sat her on the counter then went to the fridge to get her a water.

"You hurt my friend."

"What friend?" I asked, confused as I handed her the bottle.

"Jonathan."

'Jonathan? Who the hell is Jonathan?'

"I don't know a Jonath-..."

It came back to me. Jonathan was the guy that hurt her on the night of her birthday. We'd talked about him before. 'Friend' is a strong word. It's actually a word that shouldn't even be used.

"What about him?" I asked.

"You broke him. You left him on the side of the road. He could have died."

'How did she-...it's been months...'

"Why would you do that?"

She looked actually disappointed in me.

"Leyla, baby, I don't know what you're talking about. I think you need to go to sleep."

'Please, go to sleep.'

"No, tell me why you did it. Why'd you beat up my friend?"

"That man isn't your friend."

"Eli, answer my question."

"We'll finish this conversation in the morning." I insisted.

"No, we'll..." she hiccuped. "...finish it right now."

"Leyla." I called and she climbed off the counter. She lost her balance and almost fell but I caught her.

"Tell me!" she yelled.

"I'M NOT HAVING THIS CONVERSATION WITH YOU WHILE YOU'RE DRUNK OFF YOUR ASS!" I yelled but I didn't mean to. She looked at me like she was about to cry again.

"I'm sorry. For the love of god please don't cry." I begged.

If she cries it'll make me soft and then I'd have to explain.

She looked away from me. "Fuck you." she mumbled and walked off to our room.

I sighed and threw my head back as my hands rested on my hips.

Then I heard the door open.

Jesse came in with a tired Kendall fallen over his shoulder.

The sight made me laugh.

"Sorry, she's a fast runner." he stated and then headed to their room.
