《Demigods Meet Mortals》Reyna Ramírez-Arellano (Annabeth Chase) - Part Two
Advertisement
Just a heads-up, this chapter is a part two to the other Reyna meet Annabeth chapter, so please ready that one before this! And also, I can't remember if Hazel was made centurion of the fifth cohort in Son Of Neptune or sometime later, so I'm going to say she isn't centurion unless someone corrects me in the comments!
__________
"And I'll make you remember me, Perseus Jackson, one way or another, I will."
Percy frowned at Annabeth's statement, it was obvious to both him and I that Annabeth Chase was someone from his past. And though it was a selfish thought, I really hoped he wouldn't remember her. All previous attraction to Percy aside, I doubt I would be able to lead Camp Jupiter alone much longer—now that is was clear Jason has found a new place for himself.
I cleared my throat, the tension in the room was tense, like a war ready to break out. "Well then, Hazel—" I began, waiting for her to come forwards. It never felt right behaving like this, kind of makes me feel spoilt—but it was formal, and showed the Greeks that I was in control and that they were on foreign grounds.
"Hazel, please inform and escort Frank Zhang over right now?" I could see her nod slightly from the corner of my eyes, and she was off. This would've been a perfect time for the Greeks to attack if they wished, without Hazel here, we were left with Percy, Dakota, and I. There was no reason as to why Dakota was here, but his previous attempt to get high to fight better was obviously not going to work here. In other words: we were outnumbered on our own turf.
But I wasn't about to let the Greeks know that.
"So let's discuss this Mark of Athena prophecy you've received." Percy said, I nodded in agreement. Annabeth took a breath, turning to whisper something into the son of Hephaestus' ear before speaking. And it was quite worrying how he ran off right after. I turned to get Dakota to follow, only to see Percy gesturing for him to go.
"So we still need to figure out the 'key to endless death' and the whole twins situation." Annabeth summarised, and Jason made an unintelligible noise.
"I really don't want to say this," Jason stated briefly. "But there's reason for us to believe that the twins can possibly be giants—based on what prophecy states. And if that assumption is right, then..." Hazel took a breath at Jason's words, them being the first thing she hears upon returning with Frank.

The son of Mars' eyes were wide, and he put a comforting hand on Hazel, who clenched her fists, taking a step forward to hide her fear. I felt horrible for Hazel—if Nico was really taken by twin giants, things were bad.
"So Nico is taken by giants. But why? He must know or be valuable to Gaia in some way." I frowned at that—Hazel was right. Nico must've been exposed to some sort of information. Annabeth's eyes widened, and Percy leaned forwards in his seat.
"What do you know?"
Annabeth's gaze softened when she looked at Percy, but hardened when she spoke. "Both Greeks and Romans knew of Nico, meaning that he has been travelling between the camps for Zeus knows how long."
Percy nodded absently, his eyes sparking. "So Gaia's pulling a Kronos—either recruiting, or executing." He concluded, before head snapping up, confused. I scowled, Kronos?
Annabeth smiled slightly, obviously realising Percy was regaining memories. I could see Piper exchanging a grin with Jason, who just smirked. "We have all the time to finish figuring out the prophecy aboard our ship—the Argo II. But Reyna, we need to know: will you work with us?"
It surprised me that Piper was the one who spoke, seeing she was silent the whole time. I took a breath. If the prophecies all matched up, that meant that we had no choice but to work with the Greeks Jason was so fond of now. But if he had chosen to betray us, and lead Percy, Hazel, and Frank into a trap, the Romans would be losing a centurion, praetor, and a daughter of Pluto. In other words, three exceptionally powerful demigods.
I turned my head back, beckoning Hazel, Frank and Percy to gather 'round. The three exchanged glances before kneeling in front of me, so we were at eye-level. "We should do it—there's more of them but only one two who understand strategy. And it's obvious that Piper and Leo are new demigods. They don't have full control." Hazel reasoned immediately, and I nodded.
Frank just shrugged in response, and Percy nodded slightly too, agreeing with Hazel. I turned back to face the Greeks.
"We're—"
My words were cut off by the sound of screaming and centurions shouting. I frowned, grabbing hold of my spear which was leaning against the wall.

"Die Romans!"
I shot Annabeth a look. The voice belonged to Leo Valdez—the high-pitched shriek that belonged to the son of Hephaestus from the scroll. Annabeth opened her mouth, then shut it. "Reyna, Percy, I swear I didn't tell Leo to do that."
Percy glared at Annabeth, and for a immature demigod, he had a mean glare. It was clear that all previous attraction to her was gone. "Save it—thanks to you, we have a mad demigod to stop."
♡
I was the first one up, Hazel, Frank, and Percy right on my tail. "Hazel, come with us, Frank—deal with the cohorts, then get to the Argo II." Percy said, beginning to sprint right after his command. Hazel unsheathed her spatha, and Frank fell back to get to where the other Romans hopefully retreated to.
"What about the Greeks and Jason?" Percy asked, and I huffed. "If they really want to help, they will."
The three of us slowed to a stop in front of the Argo II, which drifted on the spot in above the camp. "How are we going to get up?" Hazel muttered softly, her fingers pale from the tight grip she had on her weapon.
"Hurry!"
We turned around, to see Frank. Well, Frank in a bird form. Percy grabbed hold of Frank's claw, flying himself up. It was smart, Percy was arguably the most powerful amongst us four, and if Leo were to put up a fight, or if there's an army aboard the ship, he'll hold off the longest.
Soon, I got on the ship, Frank shifting back into human form, in a superhero landing. If Percy had seen, he probably would've said something like awesome.
Thankfully, Percy had Leo's arms held behind his back, and Hazel was busy moving the weapon Leo had used away from Camp Jupiter. "You, are staying up here, away from the weapon." Percy grumbled, somehow able to tie Leo up in a chair.
I took a breath, ready to get back down, when chaos broke out. Percy froze, and Hazel peered over the edge along with Frank.
"Guys, we have a situation."
With that, I looked over the edge of the ship. Angry Romans were practically hurling themselves at the Greeks, civilians pelting them with tomatoes, armed demigods waving their weapons threateningly.
"We've got to stop this mess." I yelled over the shouting to the others, and we all made our way down, sliding down the ropes thrown over the sides of the ship.
Percy raced to where Piper and Jason were, yelling at the Romans to stop, who did. Hazel and Frank headed to Annabeth, and I made my way onto a large rock.
And whistled as loud as I could.
Every head snapped my way. I took a breath, holding back the smile that was coming.
"Romans, leave the Greeks alone! We might not be best friends with them, but we are not in need of enemies!" I yell, earning silence in return. The Roman demigods retreated back to where they came from.
I exchanged glances with Percy, the only one left aside from me and the other Greeks. And Jason.
Annabeth's gaze was cold, but along with Piper's, it had hope in it. Hope that we were still going to work with them.
Percy glanced at me, and I nodded slightly, subtly enough that the Greeks wouldn't notice. The son of Poseidon spun on Annabeth, Piper, and Jason immediately.
"After the stunt your friend just pulled on this camp? You can forget about an alliance between us." Percy stated, voice filled with venom. It sent a shudder down my spine. I crossed my arms. "But," I said, I was reluctant, but there was no other choice.
"But, even so, we're still in." I finished, and Percy grinned slightly. "Defying the gods isn't on our wish list this year."
Piper and Jason shared a high-five, and Annabeth grinned, a spark growing in her eyes. The daughter of Athena offered me her hand to shake, which I took.
"It's a deal, then."
__________
Okay. This isn't the best chapter, but I was listening to a Frank Zhang playlist I made on Spotify, and realised how cool it would be to play the chorus of Natural by Imagine Dragons at the superhero landing part of this chapter. Like, it might just be giving chills for me, but still.

Re-Ordaining of the Chosen
Alea cheerfully hummed as she descended the steps, brimming in upbeat while her colleague, Quarren Leos, shot her a look of skepticism. “So… were you right about him?” he asked doubtfully. She came to a stop for a moment, her humming falling silent before she shook her head, waving her medium length light-blonde hair from side to side. “I was wrong about him.” Quarren raised an eyebrow in confusion at the convoluted response.“But you seem quite happy?” he asked again. “Because I am. But I was wrong about him. He was… so much more than I ever expected.” Alea looked at the sky overhead with a smile. “That boy… no, that man, is amazing. I firmly believe he will come to stand on top of any adversary he faces. He is destined. He is Chosen.” Quarren snorted as he stepped past, shaking his head. “Okay. Each to their own beliefs but you’re sounding like a nutjob. That skinny twig? Everyone calls him a cripple, you know,” he shook his head.“Rumours are always false, Leos,” Alea answered with a disapproving shake of her head. “You wouldn’t know. He is so, so much more.” “I saw him with my own two eyes. I didn’t see anything redeeming,” Quarren rebutted. “Well…” Alea chuckled. “You haven’t seen what I’ve seen.” In the year 917 of the Imperial Calendar, the Great War had just ended between dozens of nations.
