《Hiraeth || F. Meizuo》Chapter 4

It was about 8 in the morning and I had just got out of the shower when my phone rang. I looked at it and it was Meizuo.
"Hello? Zuo?" I answered with a smile.
"Hello? Good morning Shuijing. " he answered back in a cheerful tone.
"Good morning, so what's up?" I asked as I brushed my hair.
"Well, I was wondering if you wanted to drop by Mingde University and have lunch with me- us! With us! Today?" He stuttered which I giggled at.
"Sure Zuo, although Jiejie is going earlier than me, she told she wanted to see Lei after he practiced his violin." I answered.
"Okay, I'll come pick you up in 10 minutes. See ya Princess!" He answered with a laugh and I rolled my eyes.
"You guys have really got to get over that nickname. I wore that tiara one time okay and I was delirious from the laughing gas remember? I had just got my wisdom teeth out!" I said back as I groaned while Meizuo laughed through the phone.
"Well, you did parade around and called everyone a peasant. Not to mention you thought Ximen was a horse and you jumped on his back and told him to carry you to your magical sugar castle." He answered back, his laughter growing louder.
"Okay bye Zuo!" I said with a laugh as I hanged up the phone.
I dried my hair and brushed through it and went into my closet. I picked out a black mini button up mini dress with puffed sleeves and a white collar, some black satin heels with pearl bead ankle straps, and grabbed a black satin clutch bag with pearls. After I changed, I fastened my pearl drop earrings onto my ears and applied some light pink tint on my lips. I brushed through my hair one more time and sprayed on my Hermès 24 Faubourg perfume. My phone beeped.
"I'm downstairs Shuijing- Zuozuo" I smiled. I grabbed my phone and closed my bedroom door shut. I walked downstairs to find Meizuo's back staring at me. He was looking at our old photos that were framed in the living room.
"Hey Zuo." I said and smiled. He turned back at me and smiled.
"Well don't you look gorgeous Shui.." He said as he grabbed my hand and spun me around to look at me. I laughed and let go of his hand.
"Shall we, your Highness?" he asked as he bowed and held his arm out. I gave a curtsy and looped my hand into his arm.
"We shall." I answered as I smiled.
We arrived at Mingde and Meizuo parked the car. I was gonna get out when Meizuo beat me to it. He opened the door and held out his hand.
"Milady?" he asked as he smiled teasingly. I laughed and grabbed it.
"Thank you sir!" I said as I grabbed my bag and looped my arm in his. As we walked to the building, I heard a lot of whispers and some of the freshmen were greeting me. I smiled and greeted back and I wasn't sure but I think I saw one of the guys I greeted faint.
"Is that Tengtang Shuijing?"
"She's gorgeous!"
"Why is she with Feng Meizuo? Are they dating?"
"Darn it! Why do the F4 get all the pretty ones! First Huaze Lei with Jing and now Meizuo with Shuijing!"
Meizuo and I looked at each other and laughed but when we both looked away, I blushed and thought 'They don't know that will never happen cause Zuo will never look at me as a woman.' I shook it off and smiled as we walked our way to the cafeteria. When we got there, Jing, Ximen, Ah Si, and Lei were already seated at the table and Ximen waved us over.

"Hey Shui!" Ximen greeted me as I sat down between him and Meizuo. Lei gave me a small smile and Ah Si gave me one but he looked away. He seemed a bit distracted but I shook it off. We were talking about Lei's recital. Ah Si then snapped his head to look at the entrance of the cafeteria. I followed his eyes and saw a girl with short black hair and bangs who was with a tall boy who looked kind of awkward. I nudged Meizuo and gestured to the girl.
"Ah... That's her. The one Ah Si's been telling you about. Her name is Dong Shancai." he whispered to me as I continued to stare at the girl. She seemed nice and she looked like she was uncomfortable given the way Ah Si was staring at her. Speaking of Ah Si, he suddenly stood up and walked towards Shancai. I could see Shancai panicking and in her panic, she bumped into another student, fell, and the tray of food she was holding got all over her. I winced and wanted to stand up and help the poor girl but Meizuo held me back and shook his head. I furrowed my eyebrows as if to ask him why. He gestured to Ah Si.
"Are you blind? Watch where you're going." The said student said, annoyed. Shancai's friend immediately helped her up.
"So sorry." he apologized for her.
"I'll let you go this time. You'd better watch it." The student said as he turned to leave. Shancai's friend turned to help her up but Ah Si beat him to it and pulled him out of the way.
"Shancai. Being with Qinghe makes you 100, 1,000,10,000 times happier, right? So you must be really happy now." Ah Si mocked Shancai who was still on the floor.
"Daoming Si. Why are you picking on us? Do you really enjoy doing that?" Shancai asked in anger while Ah Si just laughed.
"I do. It makes me so happy to see you fall on your face." Ah Si answered as he bent down to her level.
"Shancai. You look like you love to eat all kinds of vegetables. No wonder you're called "Shancai." Ah, Si taunted as he pinched her cheek which she swatted away.
"Let go!" Shancai exclaimed.
"What's wrong? Go ahead and hit me." Ah Si prodded.
"Daoming Si, you're crossing the line." Her friend Qinghe said in defense to Shancai. I was really fuming now, Ah Si was being too much but before I could say anything, Lei suddenly stood up and walked towards Ah Si and Shancai. I looked at Jing who seemed as shocked as I was. Lei was never one to involve himself in other's businesses and now he was helping someone he barely knew. He pulled her up and dusted her off.
"Have you had enough?" Ah Si asked as he stood from his position on the floor as Lei continued dusting off some leftover food from Shancai's clothes. Ah Si turned to Lei and Lei looked at him as well before grabbing Shancai's hand and walking away. Suddenly, Ah Si grabbed Shancai's other hand and pulled her back along with Lei.
"Lei, do you know what you're doing?" Ah Si asked him, a hint of anger in his voice.
"Ah Si, enough is enough." Lei answered calmly. And by that time we had all stood up and walked closer to the scene. I stood next to my sister with Meizuo and Ximen on my right. I really didn't like where this was going.

"Don't tell me you like this crazy girl." Ah Si asked him in annoyance as he tried to pull Shancai towards him.
"Stop it." Lei answered back as he pulled Shancai back.
"Ah Si, that's enough." I said as I glared at him. I was furious. No girl deserves this no matter the reason. Ah Si stared at me and I saw fear in his eyes but he shook it off and turned to look at Lei.
"If you're my friend, let go." Ah Si demanded as he pulled Shancai again. Ah Si repeated what he said and pulled her tighter but Lei wouldn't budge.
"No." Lei answered threateningly.
"Let me go! You're hurting me!" The said girl exclaimed, I assumed she was getting tired from the pushing and pulling and I didn't blame her. Ah Si looked at her and before letting her go and sent her flying into Lei's arms.
"If you leave with her now, don't talk to me ever again." Ah Si threatened one last time. Lei just stared at him and left with Shancai in tow. Meizuo and Ximen looked at each other and I felt my sister grasp my arm.
"Let's go help her clean up meimei." She said softly. I smiled.
"Yes. Let's go jiejie. But let me just do something." I said as I walked up to Ah Si and smacked his head.
"Ah! Shuijing what was that for?" He asked in pain. I scoffed.
"For being an idiot." I stated as I walked off with Jing.
We met Lei halfway with Shancai and told him we'd take her to the restroom to help clean her up. Lei thanked us and passed Shancai to us. She watched Lei walk off and I could tell she had a bit of a crush on Lei. We entered the bathroom and I got out a small white handkerchief and gave it to Jing to wet with water. I smiled at the poor girl who was probably traumatized.
"Are you alright?" I asked kindly. She nodded and gave me a small smile.
"Y-yes. Thank you by the way for standing up for me. My name is Dong Shancai, nice to meet you." she told me with a shaky but sincere smile.
"Nice to meet you too. I'm Shuijing. It's alright. I didn't help that much though. I just really thought Ah Si was being childish again and I really dislike seeing girls being mistreated. It's a good thing Lei was able to get you out of there at all. " I reassured the poor girl.
"Don't be mad. Ah Si isn't a bad person. He's just very immature sometimes. He can't help himself." My sister added as she moved to wipe some of the stains on Shancai's shirt but Shancai held up her hands.
"Jing. I can do it myself." She stated.
"Alright." Jiejie answered back with a smile and handed her the handkerchief.
"We've known Lei for many years. This is the first time I've seen him so agitated. You must be very important to him." Jing told her as she continued to wipe off the remnants of food on her shirt and pants.
"That's impossible. Huaze Lei likes you, Jing." Shancai said in disbelief. Jing giggled.
"I guess." Jing replied shyly with a smile.
"Do you like Huaze Lei too?" Shancai asked curiously which Jing only smiled at as she turned to get some clothes from a paper bag she brought.
"Your clothes and shoes are wet. I have some clean clothes. You can wear them." Jing said as she brought out a neatly folded asymmetrically embroidered white long-sleeved top with puffy sleeves and gray trousers with red and black lines on the sides.
"I don't need to change." Shancai protested shyly.
"Girls should always be clean and stylish. Put them on." Jing told her with a smile.
"Thank you, Jing." Shancai said as she took the clothes from Jing's hands and my eyes moved to her shoes. I smiled and moved to take the next thing in the paper bag: shoes. They were a pair of black heeled formal shoes with pearl buttons. I brought them out and moved closer to Shancai.
"Those shoes are so pretty." Shancai commented as she looked at them. I smiled.
"Every girl should have a pair of nice shoes. They can take you to beautiful places." I told her and she gave me a smile. I had a feeling she and I were gonna get along fine.
After making sure Shancai was okay, Jing had to leave first to meet up with Lei so I decided to walk with Shancai to meet up with Qinghe. As we walked around, a lot of people were staring at us and I could tell that Shancai was uncomfortable.
"Shuijing, I'm fine really. I can find Qinghe by myself. Thank you. Really." She insisted but I shook my head.
"Shancai, I'm not leaving you all alone besides people in Mingde tend to gossip and make up stories that are completely false so just let me come with you okay? I'll feel better once we've found your friend." I said as I smiled and continued to walk with her. We suddenly heard small steps toward us and turned to see Qinghe walking towards us.
"Shancai, are you okay?" he asked concerned.
"I'm fine." she answered back and turned to me. Then he turned to me.
"Hi. My name is Chen Qinghe. I'm one of Shancai's best friends." He introduced himself cheerfully as he held out his hand for me to shake. I shook it and smiled.
"Nice to meet you. I'm Shuijing." I said kindly.
"You're very pretty." Qinghe added as he stared at me. I laughed as Shancai elbowed him.
"I'm fine now Shuijing. Thank you so much again." Shancai smiled at me.
"Well, I'll leave you to it. And it was nice meeting you Qinghe!" I said as I waved and walked away with a smile.
I turned the corner and there stood Feng Meizuo leaning against the wall, smiling at me. I walked up to him and smiled.
"Hey." he said with a smile and bumped my hip. I smiled back and did the same.
"Hey yourself. What were you doing over there? Don't you have class or something?" I asked him curiously as to why he was just standing there.
"I'm done for the day and besides it's a national holiday next week so most of the students are planning on what to do. But as for us-" I cut him off and raised my eyebrow.
"Us? Like all of us?" I asked with a slight laugh. He nodded and laughed at me.
"Yep! We're going to Hawaii." He said with a bright smile. I squealed in excitement. I loved the beach.
"Really?" I asked just to be sure. And he nodded as he walked away slowly. I couldn't contain my excitement and jumped onto his back, hugging him tightly. I wrapped my arms around his neck loosely. I looked like a koala clinging to him.
"You're that happy?" he asked laughing as held my legs to keep me from falling. I nodded and smiled.
"Now, let's go my noble steed!" I said as I patted his head and laughed. He laughed back.
"Where to, Milady?" He asked in a formal tone.
"Home!" I said as I pointed to the direction of the parking lot. He nodded and smiled.
"Hold on tight milady." He said before he ran towards the parking lot. We both laughed and laughed as we reached his car.
These were moments I wish could last forever. Just laughter and no worries.
