《To String Together ( Huaze Lei )》Lunch Decision

Brown curls that reached his forehead. Eyes were brown as chocolate. They seemed peaceful most of the time. His expression never gave anything away. Face calm and angelic, but tone cold and intimidating. I felt small, but at the same time I felt a magnetic pull towards him.
I once had a crush when we were in senior high. I at the time had no idea he was one of my best friends closest friends. I knew nothing of my stand partner, because he never made conversation with me. I was shy and never had the courage to start the conversation. We were stand partners; first and second chair of the violin section.
For a year, we never spoke.
For a year, I turned the pages while he continued playing.
That year was the last time I played the violin in an ensemble. My breathing went uneven as I thought back to my freshman year. Far off from a panic attack, I took deep breaths after he left. I hope one day I would be seen as not a problem.
I shivered thinking about what I have just wrote. I stared at my journal reading over the words I have written down. My first journal entry and it was about him. My heart rate was just above normal as my thoughts swarmed of my only memories with him. Who would have know we would see each other again.
I sat in my writing class. The classroom wasn't anything compared to a lecture hall. The fifteen students were sitting at a desk in a circle.
We're towards the end of class and Dr.Liu announced the last ten minutes was a journal entry. He explained to me for the last ten minutes of each class, I should write about something on my mind and put it into the journal. At the end of the semester he will ask each student to pick an entry to read out loud.
I looked up from my journal and saw Lei directly across from me. Lei was focused on writing in his journal. He seemed to have a lot on his mind as he has been writing almost the entire time. His eyebrows were knitted in concentration. As always, he seemed at peace while his pen moved across the page. This was my our second class together of the day. The first class was advanced music theory and now this class. I'm actually thankful he was concentrated on his writing, because he would have caught me staring.
I've learned quite a bit about the F4 members in the short span I have arrived at Ming De University. They seem to be the outstanding seniors who according to my classmates are good looking, tall, and each of them are talented in their respected fields. They are known as the founders for the prestigious bridge club and they've won multiple championships. They're is a system where you must receive a joker card in order to challenge F4, due to the number of people wanting to challenge them.
The head member F4 is senior Daoming Si who is the heir to Daoming Group. His family is of fortune I could not possibly comprehend. Si isn't only wealthy in China, but internationally he is well known. Si is a business administration major, who has already earned a fortune in his own through his talent in stock exchange. He is also the one who Ximen first introduced me to and it wasn't a pleasant experience.

There is senior Feng Meizuo, who is also a business administration major. Meizuo is artistically and literally inclined. He has a great sense of humor and I can attest to that. It is said he is interested in older women and can be a flirt like Ximen.
Ximen Yan, my best friend; the one I hold close to me like a brother. Ximen is a senior majoring in business administration. He's seen as elegant and skilled in the art of tea. His family for the longest time has influences in the way of tea and in business. Ximen has always a calm and demeanor so collected. He is a charmer, but I never had a crush on Ximen. He has always been there for me when I needed someone to lean on or talk to with my problems. Well... except for the problems I had with Daoming Si and Geng.
Then there is senior Huaze Lei. He is the heir to Huaze Corporation established in Taiwan. Lei is a music major and known for his talented skills of the violin and the piano. He is a prodigy. The first time I looked into his dreamy eyes, he was in a practice room rehearsing for Shostakovich Concerto No. 1 in A Minor for a competition. His focus and commitment to the violin gave me hope with my dreams as musician. From that day I had a crush on my stand partner and I'm sure he knew nothing of my existence.
Little did I know my feelings from almost six years ago would resurface.
My eyes wandered around the circle to my classmates. There were some who looked as if they were finished and there were some who were still working on their entry. Once ten minutes passed by, Dr.Liu made a quick announcement on a paper due next class. I looked over the syllabus given to me at the beginning of the class. The paper due next class was an eight page paper of something of our interest. I immediately thought about music.
My eyes wandered over to Lei who looked towards me once he closed his notebook. His expression says... nothing. He stood from his seat before thanking our professor and leaving the room. I broke out of my trance and began packing my things. I noticed he not have a backpack with him.
Slowly, I closed my journal and put it into my bag before closing it shut. I stood and followed the other students out the room and out into the hall unsure where to go. I grabbed my phone from my coat pocket to look at the time. It's definitely lunch time. I looked around to see everyone chatting with their friends and walking to their destined places. I wasn't sure what to do.
I wasn't sure where the cafeteria is located and I felt uncomfortable eating with Ximen's friends after my morning encounter with Lei. I'm sure he ate with Ximen and Meizou. If he was there then maybe Si would be there and I couldn't bare the thought of what happened during my lunch time during senior high school. I'm not going to eat there. I'd prefer to leave campus since I am officially done with classes for the day. I'm quite sure I won't be discussing recital ideas with Lei today. I wasn't sure how I'd contact him.

Eventually, Lei will find out I'm Ximen's friend. Hopefully he will lighten up once he knows I've been great friends with Ximen for a long time. Today isn't that day though. I've faced enough embarrassing, heart racing moments. The idea of going to Luneta's for lunch appeared in my mind.
I could really go for some dinuguan with rice right now. I then mentally sigh contemplating on my cello and violin. I shouldn't leave both of them here at school. I think it would be a great idea to take my cello with me back to Ximen's to work on my solo piece I had picked out just a few days ago. I think it would be best to work on my fingering and have a solid idea of my plan of learning each section this weekend. My feet began making its way out of this building to head back towards the music building, which happened to be right across the courtyard.
Entering the building, I am back to where everyone knows me. Students would wave hello to me and I would politely reply back. There were some students who would stop and stare at me star struck I am now attending Ming De University. I smiled lightly and began climbing the stairs to the storage room located on the fifth floor. After climbing one flights of stairs, my phone goes off. I smile at Ximen's icon and answer the call.
"Hello Ximen!" I answer cheerfully. There was a small pause and I heard his chuckle from the other end.
"Hi Faye. I heard your performance went well this morning."
"It did."
"I'm glad. Are your classes so far alright?" I hum in response as I continue walking up the stairs. "I wanted to ask if you have changed your mind about lunch? Do you want to eat with me and the group?"
"No, it's okay. I've decided to go to Luneta for lunch."
"Ah. Do you want me to accompany you or drop you off?"
"No it's okay, but could you let me put my cello in your car? I'm not coming back to campus after I eat."
"Sure. Meizuo is with me now. We can meet you outside the music building in about five minutes?"
"Sounds good. See you in a few minutes."
"Alright." I end the call and open the door to the storage room. The big locker room is like a maze. I look for locker 2481 and put in my combination. I took my cello out and closed the locker shut. I make my way back out of the maze and back down the flight of stairs. It takes me a few minutes to get to the ground floor and exit the building. I find both Ximen and Meizuo standing a few feet away waiting for me to come out.
I smiled shyly to have them both here. Ximen takes my cello from me and Meizuo reaches for the strap of my bag taking it off my shoulders to hold. What gentleman they are.
"You're both so kind," I say lightly. We began walking. Meizuo allowed me to walk between the both of them. "Thank you."
"Hmm, my best friend has had a long morning," Ximen spoke. "You must be tired from your flight. Has the time difference messed with your mind yet?" As soon as Ximen mentions the time difference, my body suddenly feels like it has been drained and I let out a yawn I had no idea was coming. The both of them look down towards me and smile. I noticed the students glancing my way.
"I'm really tired, now that you mention it."
"Then we can drop you off at the house after we eat," Meizuo says.
"We?" Ximen through those circular glasses squints at me.
"Yes... you don't think we were going let you have lunch alone, did you?" I shrugged slightly. We are now in the parking lot and Ximen led the way to his car.
"It's your first day Faye," Meizuo smiled. "We're not going to abandon you for lunch."
"I don't want to disrupt your routine," I say lightly.
"Don't think that way," Ximen says and unlocks the door to his car. He opened the trunk. He and Meizuo put my things in there before shutting it. "Is Lei coming with us?"
"Huh?" I began to feel unease at the mention of him.
"The whole school is talking about you and Lei's questionnaire, especially the music department is talking about it. Have you and Lei already hit it off?" Meizuo opened the passenger door and nodded for me to get in. He closed the door for me once I am in and gets in from behind. Lei seems to have something against me. I did not want to start trouble.
"You don't need to invite Lei," I shook my head and lowered my eyes. "We made plans to go out sometime this weekend."
"Ah okay. I'm sure he'll be around." I looked in the rear view mirror and saw Meizuo looking at me in the reflection. I can tell he knows something happened after the performance. I hope he doesn't bring it up with Ximen here and he doesn't. As we are driving out of the parking lot, Ximen brought up an assignment he is working on with Meizuo, Ah Si, and Lei. I allow my head to lean against the headrest and looked out the window.

I Need Time
An action, adventure, mystery and strategy story about a strong male lead. Author note: First time author, good amount of buffer chapters (over 50k words) so I will not drop this book anytime soon. This book will mostly be from the perspective of the MC. On average +5k words will be published per week. I have not chosen some of the genres and tags as I do not wish to give away parts of the story. I added the content warning tags as there will come a time for profanities, gore and maybe "traumatising" content. Though, in my opinion the content will be mild if not light. *****SPOILER*****SPOILER***** Synopsis: A college ICT student transmigrates to another world filled with magic and learns magic from a dragon. MC uses modern knowledge to develop magitech technology. MC starts his adventure using the technology he develops! Saving princesses, fighting hidden criminal organizations, learning how horribly medieval peasants live, reasoning with uneducated narrow minded people, investigating the nature of magic and searching for gods... Story review: A fantasy/sci-fi story filled with some common cliches yet presents somewhat original ideas and a few unexpected twists & turns here and there. This novel also explores a few of the commonly ignored topics concerning medieval fantasy like hygiene, culture, education(ignorance, narrow mindedness) and the fact that everybody is short because magical crops cost too much. Modern knowledge in such a setting can often times revolutionize the world if the protagonist is not an idiot or weak willed or thinks something stupid like he should not intervene in a society that systematically practices unequality of opportunity, slavery and other nasty things, of course sometimes the protagonist can be just unlucky by being enslaved, etc. In our case we are granted a protagonist who had an initial stroke of luck, learning magic from a dragon instead of struggling for years without it or randomly dieing. After that his luck goes down the drain. It is arguable whether the princess is a good stroke of luck or not, I digress. Anyway the challenges the protagonist must face will grow and no more luck or helping hands. After gaining enough power and security the protagonist will change the world for the better or at least give it a stronge push onto the right track. He will make a lot of lives better but things are never so simple and there is much more to this world than meets the eye... Missing genres & tags: Fantasy, Sci-fi, Magic. *****SPOILER*****SPOILER*****
