(e/c) orbs stare at yours, the boy's eyes filled with excitement as he holds the ball in his hand.
" Y-you're really going to let me play soccer!?" he grinned, his canine teeth showing. You chuckled, patting his (h/c) locks that he got from you. He was nothing like his real father. He was definitely your little male version. You nodded causing the child to jump in your arms, wrapping his little ones around your neck and nuzzling his face on the skin. You patted his back before letting him pull you outside the house to the field he was talking about.
When you arrived there, he started kicking the ball towards the goal post, practicing his skills.
You sat on a bench, a satisfied smile on your lips as you watch him play with the ball you gave him minutes ago. You decided to take a look around the park, trusting your son that he won't get in trouble since he practically said once that he can take care of himself, and you being the trustful mother you are believed in him.
" Mommy let me play soccer..." (s/n) whispered happily, kicking the ball towards the goal with a wide smile, before something hit the back of his head. He turn around to see three guys in his age with big smirks on their faces. B- bullies!? his little mind said, his eyes widening in fear as they started picking on him, his poor little body cannot to anything since he was actually a naïve child.
" Oi! You three what do you think you're doing!?" they stopped picking on him, running away as the stranger with a soothing voice knelt beside the naïve child.
" M-mommy... I-I want mommy..." he sobbed, his hands sloppily wiping his tears away as he kept a strong frame.

" We'll search your mommy ok?" the stranger said, carrying (s/n) and placing him on the bench his mother was sitting on earlier. " I'm Mark, what's your name little guy?" the stranger introduced himself, kneeling in front of the (h/c) haired boy.
" (s-s/n)..." he muttered. " W-where's mommy?"
" We'll wait for your mother ok? I'm sure she'll come back for you, don't worry." Mark patted his soft locks, smiling reassuringly.
You walked back to the park, holding a plastic of (s/n)'s favorite snacks. You look around, until your eyes widen at the sight of him crying with a guy in front of him, patting him with a kind smile. " (s/n)!?" his eyes turned to you along with the stranger's beautiful orbs. (s/n) run towards you, jumping in your arms as he continued to sob on your shoulder,
" Oh my goodness! What happened to you!?"
" I'm very sorry mommy! I-I wasn't a-able to defend myself f-from b-bullies! Mister M-Mark helped me and told me that you'll come back soon..." he stuttered, wide eyes as he explain what happened to you. Your eyes went to the eyes of who you guess is Mark. You blushed, he was a handsome man. He too has a pink hue on his cheeks.
What a beautiful young looking mother, he thought.
What a handsome young looking man, you thought.
" T-thank you! F-for saving my son..." you said, failing not to stutter. He gave a kind smile, his hand on the back of his head as he laugh nervously. Well who would be able to act normally in front of a beautiful woman?
" It's nothing really! Those boys should learn how to respect someone." he said, his voice wavering a bit.
" Mister, why is your cheek pink? Mommy, are you sick?" (s/n) innocently asked.

" I-it's nothing (s/n)!" you and Mark both exclaimed at the same time. You looked at each other, both cheeks painted pink or red. " Sorry." you both said at the same time again.
" Um, if you don't mind... s-since you saved my son... y-you know a dinner? As a payback?" you shyly offered which (s/n) beamed.
" Yeah! You should have a dinner with us! Mommy is a good cook!" Mark smiled.
" If you really wanted me to have a dinner with you and your mom, that would be fine."
You almost fainted.
The dinner was fine, except that you can't talk without stuttering or whispering and you swear you can see a glimpse of Mark staring at you or chuckling at the sight of you struggling to talk normally. You were washing the dishes, Mark and (s/n) playing in the living room.
You went in the living room, sitting beside Mark as he watch and listen to (s/n)'s story with a silly smile.
(s/n) suddenly look at the clock. " Eh!? It's pass my bedtime?" you chuckled.
" Yes honey, don't forget to clean and brush your teeth before going to bed ok?" he nodded, pecking your cheeks before running upstairs his room, don't forget the soccer ball that he left in the living room table.
" Your son is really energetic." Mark complimented.
" I know, must have got from his father." you said with a small smile. You flinched a bit at the word father.
" Sooo, where's he's father anyway?"
Your breathe hitched.
" Um, he...." Mark looked at you, one of his eyebrows raised. " He.... he left us y-years ago..." you look away in shame. You knew you weren't enough for him, or so you thought.
" Why would he leave a beautiful woman like you?"
" D-don't say such things Mark... he left me because I wasn't enough..." you murmured, pink hues on your cheeks from his statement. You felt something holding your hand. It was his hands. Your eyes stared at his, shining from the light coming from your window.
" Listen, you're more than enough in my eyes, he couldn't even see the fact that you can raise a child alone!" he grins, while you on the other hand is dying because of the closeness of your face.
" M-Mark!?" he smile at you, his eyes having the most gentle light in them.
" I... I like you... I just met you today but... I fell for you already... and I wanted to get to know you more... c-can you at least give me a chance to prove you that you're more than enough for me?" he pulled you towards him, embracing you, fearing of rejection.
You felt overwhelmed, loved, and appreciated. You felt safe, specially in his arms, his eyes was the most beautiful thing you have ever seen, and yet you just met him earlier but you couldn't help not fall in love with him.
" I... I'll try..." you barely whispered.
" Thank you." he breathe in relief, brushing a strand of hair away from your face. " I know it's too early to say this but... I love you..." you chuckled, your nose brushing his at his flustered statement.
" I love you too."
" Um hey Mark?"
" Yeah?"
" Let me guess.... you haven't ask my name yet..."
" Oh.... I forgot..." you lightly laughed, placing a quick but sweet peck on his cheeks.
" Just in case you wanted to know, it's F/N."

This Used to be About Dungeons is a comfy slice-of-life adventuring story that occasionally features dungeons. Updates Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Mostly it's about walking in the woods with a friend, looking for mushrooms to put in your soup, or haggling with the guy selling squash, or taking care of a neglected garden. It's putting some jam on shortbread biscuits. Look, the dungeons are always going to be there, and sometimes you need to make a journey to one of the Spirit Gates, or make a pilgrimage with the local Cleric of Symmetry to a holy shrine. Your tour through the local dungeons can wait. You'll have rivalries with other groups, and find some dungeon eggs that need to be carefully incubated in case they turn out to be something valuable, and help a friend to build a fishing weir.
