《The Witch and the Werewolf | Remus Lupin x Reader》Chapter 28 | Christmas Morning

I woke up the next morning to Lily shaking me awake.
"Y/n! It's Christmas! Wake up!"
"Five more minutes," I grumbled, turning over.
"Are you sure you don't want to open your presents?" Lily asked.
My eyes snapped open, and I sat up to see a pile of presents at the end of my bed. I quickly tore into them, excited to see what I got.
My parents sent me a broom compass and a red and gold sweater. Mr and Mrs Potter sent me gingerbread men, something that I got from them every year. I went through the rest of my presents, until the only people I hadn't received anything from were the Marauders and Lily. We all preferred to give our gifts in person, so Lily and I went downstairs (still in our pyjamas) to find the Marauders.
There were a few Gryffindors in the common room, but no Marauders.
"What time is it?" I asked Lily.
"Nearly nine-thirty," she replied. "Why aren't they up yet?"
"This reeks of a prank," I muttered.
I glanced around the common room again.
"I saw we go up to their room and check out what's happening," Lily said.
I shrugged.
"Alright," I said. "I've been mentally scarred a few times that I've been up there. Let me tell you, Sirius after a shower is terrifying. I thought there was a Kelpie in the room."
Lily snorted at my joke, and we made our way upstairs to the boys' dormitories. When we reached the familiar door of the Marauders' room, I knocked lightly on the door.
There was no response.
"Maybe they're-"
Before I could finish, Lily banged her fist against the wood three times.
"Wake up!" she yelled. "It's Christmas!"
"Bloody hell, Potter. Why'd you have to have such a loud girlfriend?"
"Shut up Padfoot. At least I have a girlfriend."
"We're coming in!" Lily sang, opening the door.
The boys grumbled at the light coming in through the doorway. To make things better, Lily opened the curtains with a flick of her wand.
Sirius groaned and threw a pillow over his eyes. James reached over to put his glasses on, and I walked over to Remus's bed. Remus was a heavy sleeper, so I had to wake him up somehow.

"Remus," I sang pulling back the covers.
I placed my cold hands on his face and neck, and he woke up with a snort.
"N/n?" he asked sleepily.
"Morning, Remy," I said. "Wake up! It's Christmas!"
"Five more minutes," he murmured. He reached out to me. "C'mere."
I sighed dramatically and crawled under the covers with him. He cuddled me up to his chest and nuzzled into the crook of my neck. I sighed happily and cuddled up to him, placing a kiss on his collarbone.
After five minutes, Lily practically dragged James out of his bed, and we all got up. I sat next to Remus as he opened his gifts from his parents and from James's parents.
"Alright, now for each other," James said, once everything had been opened.
"Accio presents," I said.
Lily echoed my spell and a few seconds later, my presents for Lily and the Marauders zoomed through the open door. Once Lily's joined the pile on the floor, James closed the door and walked to the pile of presents, picking up one and checking the nametag.
"This one's for you, Padfoot," he said, chucking the present at Sirius.
Sirius ripped into the wrapping paper and revealed a bag of dung bombs and a pair of Gryffindor socks.
"Thanks, N/n," Sirius said, putting on the socks.
More gifts were exchanged. Everyone was happy with the gifts I gave them. Lily squealed when she opened the necklace that I got her.
From Sirius, I got dung bombs and a beanie; from James I got Quidditch gloves and a box of Bertie Botts Every Flavour Beans; from Peter I got a copy of Charms of Defence and Deterrence by Catullus Spangle; and from Lily I got some really nice perfume.
The last gift I received was from Remus. There were two presents from him. I opened the bigger one first, which was shaped like a book. I tore away the wrapping paper to reveal a leather-bound book. On the front was my name in fancy, golden letters. I looked to Remus, and he smiled encouragingly.
I opened the book and my breath caught in my throat.

Inside the book were photos. Photos of me and Remus, and the rest of the Marauders filled the pages.
"Remus..." I breathed, tears coming to my eyes.
The photos varied from first year all the way until now. There was a mix of muggle polaroid photos and magical wizarding ones. Marlene, Alice, Frank, Mary, and a few other of my friends made appearances.
"Remus," I whispered. "This is... this is beautiful."
"I hoped you'd like it," he said.
I turned to him and kissed him softly. I pulled back and rested my forehead against his. Remus placed the smaller present into my hands. I opened it to reveal a beautiful heart-shaped necklace.
"Oh Remus!" I exclaimed. "It's beautiful!"
Remus smiled at me, and I turned around so that he could put it on for me. The metal was cool against my skin, and I kissed him when I turned around again.
"Now for your presents," I said happily.
I reached down to the pile and picked up his present. He opened it and smiled when he saw the contents.
A beige sweater, a book that I thought he would like, and a total of six chocolate bars.
"Are you trying to fatten me up?" he chuckled as he counted all of the chocolate bars.
"Yes," I said flatly. "I'm a witch. I'm gonna slow-cook you in my cauldron."
"I think I'm missing some context here, but what in the actual fuck, L/n?"
I looked over to see Sirius looking at me in horror. Remus and I started laughing and Sirius still looked concerned.
After a while of hanging out, Lily and I went back to the girls' dorms to get dressed for breakfast. We met the Marauders in the common room and then walked down to the Great Hall for breakfast (which was actually lunch, because we'd spent the morning with the Marauders).
Everyone had stayed for the Yule Ball this year, so we all sat at the Gryffindor table.
"Of course we should follow Slughorn around with a pair of bongos!" Sirius exclaimed, waving his for around. "It would be amazing."
Unluckily for Sirius, his sausage flew off of the end of his fork and hit James in the face.
"Oi!" James yelled.
Sirius started laughing so hard he nearly fell off of his chair. James grabbed a carrot and threw it at Sirius. It hit him in the face, and Sirius shrieked. Sirius grabbed a handful of mashed potato and threw it at James. James dodged, and we all gasped as it hit Lily in the face. I covered my mouth to keep from laughing.
Slowly, Lily wiped the substance off of her face.
"You're dead, Black," she hissed.
She grabbed a handful of peas and threw them at him. Sirius grabbed more food and threw it at both James and Lily. The food hit other students, who also began to retaliate.
"FOOD FIGHT!"
And suddenly the Great Hall was full of the chaos of food flying everywhere. I ducked to avoid being hit and threw a whole bunch of food at other students.
I looked up to the teachers' table to see them all looking on. Suddenly, a glob of mashed potatoes hit McGonagall in the face.
Everyone froze. McGonagall stood there for a moment before wiping the food off of her face. There was a chuckle from a few chairs over from her, and I looked to see Professor Dumbledore holding his fork like a sling shot.
Everyone burst back into the fight, and food continued flying through the room.
"Oi, L/n! Think fast!"
I turned to the origin of the voice and got hit in the face with a pie. I wiped it off to see Sirius standing on the table and grinning like a madman. Before I could throw something back in retaliation, Sirius got hit in the face with what looked to be mashed turnips. I turned to the side to see Remus laughing.
I smiled at him before dunking a bowl of peas on his head.
"Hey! I just avenged you!" he yelled playfully.
I laughed with him, and then I heard a student yell.
"I JUST WANTED TO EAT!"

Starchild
“It’s life’s illusions I recall. I really don’t know life at all.” from the song, Both Sides Now, by Joni Mitchell Starchild is an adventure novel set within an understanding of reality that is rooted in Eastern spiritual traditions. It takes as its starting point experiments in remote viewing that were genuinely undertaken by the American military in the nineteen-nineties under the name of the Stargate Project. It then imagines how a more advanced attempt to weaponise the capabilities of consciousness might have been developed in the present day.The story then explores how Ultimate Reality might respond to such a threat.Deep, elemental forces thus bring together Samantha Martin and Sahadeva Varma, old colleagues from the Stargate Project, to avert the apocalyptic consequences of this military attempt to weaponise consciousness. This fast-paced story spans genres including romance, action, adventure, science fiction and more. Although this story is based on concepts drawn from established spiritual traditions, these have sometimes been extrapolated to the point of very extreme speculation for the needs of an adventure story.Much of the underlying philosophy, however, as explained in the dharma talks given by Samantha Martin, is paraphrased from the guidance of respected spiritual teachers. Scheduling: Starchild is a previously unpublished novel of one hundred thousand words which was serialised in weekly instalments over twenty-five weeks from 15th November 2021 to the 29th April 2022. Each instalment contains five chapters – an average of approximately four thousand words in each instalment.
