《~danganronpa chatfic~》Chapter 49

It was night time in Jabberwock island. I could hear the cicadas and the occasional sound fo the waves from the beach.
I checked the clock beside the hotel bed. 1:00 am. Funnn. Makoto was sleeping soundly next to me.
At around 11:00 pm, a lot of people decided to go to bed. Including me and Makoto. So we went to one of the hotels on the island and decided to call it a night.
But I wasn't really tired so I just stared out the window. The moon shone brightly so there was some light. My glasses were on and all I was wearing was a t-shirt and shorts.
and yes, I can wear plebeian clothing. I don't wear a suit to bed despite what you peasants think.
and yes, I know you all are reading this. You all are weird, obsessing over a ship. Who reads 49 chapters just to see one of their "ships" kiss once?
You all.
I sighed softly. Night is one of my favorite times because I can just relax. And I don't usually get that chance often being a Togami heir.
Could I even call myself an heir if everyone else died?
I shook my head. Better not be thinking about that. We were supposed to leave tomorrow. Or today I guess since it's the next day. We're supposed to leave at around 12:00 pm so it was a reasonable time.
I never actually got a lot of sleep when I was little. When you were expected to be perfect by tons of people, it keeps you up at night.
Huh now that I think about it, my family kinda sucked. The only people who were decent was my half-sister, Shinobu and my mom.
Then again mom abandoned me and left at the time I needed her most
ah right.
Makoto rolled over and I glanced over. Still asleep phew. I don't want to wake him up, especially at this time of night.
I smiled softly to myself. he looks very peaceful while asl- oh never mind he's drooling. He drools in his sleep.
I snorted at the unintentional Percy Jackson reference I just made and Makoto stirred and open his eyes. ah shoot.
"..hm...Byakuya?" Makoto sat up and rubbed his eyes.
"sorry. Didn't mean to wake you, I just couldn't sleep" I said as I looked out the nearby window.

"No...it's fine" Makoto rubbed his eyes again and blinked slowly.
I stared out the window.
"Um...you doin okay?" Makoto asked.
"Yeah I'm fine. Just can't sleep" I groaned and flopped down on my back.
Makoto laughed a bit, "Wanna take a walk on the beach? It might tire you out" He suggested.
"It'll tire you out. You can barely walk for 5 minutes without almost fainting" I scoffed.
I could sense Makoto pouting, "let's just go-"

Walking on the beach, while listening to the sound of the waves was pretty calming. Makoto's hand was intertwined with mine and he hummed quietly.
"This...is nice" I mumbled.
Makoto beamed and he squeezed my hand gently, "That's good! It's important to get enough sleep. If you go long enough without sleep then you'll experience hallucinations and stuff" he rambled.
"...uh how do you know about that" I said.
"Basic knowledge" He shrugged. "also that happened to me once" he coughed into his fist.
"Excuse me-"
"Nothing!" he smiled.
"uh huh." I said. I decided to drop it though.
"so...you excited to go back home?" Makoto asked.
"Don't know if I would call Hopes Peak 'home' but yes" I said.
"This island is very nice though" Makoto mused.
"Very tropical" I muttered.
"Yeah why is it so humid now!" Makoto complained.
It was very humid. I noticed Makoto's hair was a little frizzy right now. I stifled a snicker and we continued walking on the beach.
"I wonder if everyone else is asleep" Makoto said.
"Probably. Unless they're nocturnal" I shrugged.
"Like an owl" Makoto muttered. then he gasped, "Oh my god you're an owl!" He faced me with a stupid grin on his face.
"...excuse me-" I blinked.
"Okay. Think about it-"
"-No I will not think about it."
"Owls only come out in the night, they have good eyesight-"
"-I wear glasses."
"Shush. And they're really cool!" Makoto rambled.
"aw you think I'm cool." I smirked.
Makoto laughed a bit, "I swear, your ego cannot get any bigger" he poked at my arm.
I scoffed and poked at him also. This initiated an attack where we kept poking each other on the arm.
I won.
ish.

We walked back into the hotel. The walk was very nice but it was an hour long.
"My feet are killing me" I grumbled
Makoto smiled nervously, "we probably shouldn't have took a 1 hour walk then"

"Well at least I got tired. Now I only want to sle-"
teke teke teke teke
Me and Makoto both freezed. "what was that?" Makoto whispered.
I remembered Leons words. That teke teke story and when the girl drags herself, it makes a teke teke sound.
A high pitched giggling ringed out and I immediately grabbed Makoto and we ran up the stairs.
"Oh my god ohmygodohmygodohmygod-" Makoto whispered loudly. We ran into our hotel room and slammed the door.
"You heard that right?" I said as I had my back to the door.
"yes I did! Oh my god were gonna die-" Makoto wrapped his arms around himself.
"Wait- maybe it's just Kuwata being weird and playing a prank" I suggested.
Suddenly, I felt a vibration through the door. As if someone slammed into it.
Makoto yelped, "thats it! We need to run" Makoto's fists clenched.
"run? Seriously? Didn't you hear what Kuwata said? You cant outrun that stupid thing!" I exclaimed.
probably shouldn't have called it a stupid thing since the door shook again.
"Don't insult it!" Makoto facepalmed.
Some high pitched giggling came from behind the door. Okay. Creepy.
I kept reassuring myself that it was just a prank. Hopefully.
Meanwhile, Makoto grabbed a- whoa was that a knife? Why does he have a knife in his bag?!
"Why do you have a knife in your bag?" I whispered-shouted.
"Hey you can never be to careful" Makoto shrugged.
"You're weird" I said as the door shook again. Looks like that teke teke girl really wants to kill us.
"Hey on the count of 3, open the door." Makoto said holding the knife tightly.
My eyes widened, "Sorry, what?! Do you have a death wish?!"
"Just do it!"
I held onto the doorknob, preparing myself. Great. I cannot die like this. And neither can Makoto. We only started dating like a few weeks ago.
"3" Makoto brandished the knife.
"2" I gripped the doorknob
"1!"
The door flung open and outside was...
Leon laughing hysterically.
I sighed, "I knew it" I let go of the doorknob.
Makoto lowered his knife and I can tell he was thinking on whether or not to stab Leon right now.
"HAHAH! You guys should've seen your faces!" Leon laughed as he pointed at us.
Makoto stared at the knife and then back up at Leon, "Seriously Leon? I was about to have a heart attack" he said.
Leon wiped some non-existent tears from his eyes, "Ahhh. Sorry man. I got bored and inspiration struck!
"I hope you get struck in the heart by a knife" I glared.
Leon laughed, "Sorry dude. Would it help if I said that I did this to the others?"
"No."
"Welp- But it was kinda funny, right?"
"No."
"No!"
Leon paused as if realizing his actions affect other people, "oh- uh- bye!" Leon quickly left.
I closed the door and laid down on the bed. Makoto laid down next to me after he put the knife under the bed.
"So...you looked terrified" Makoto commented.
I snorted, "you did too. You went very pale"
"Well you did to"
"I'm naturally pale"
"yeah but you went paler" Makoto pointed out.
"Sure. Hey Makoto?" I asked turning over so I can look at him.
"Yeah Kuya?" he asked.
"Why did you have a knife under our bed?"
Makoto hesitated, "Well uh...in the killing game, I had a knife under my bed most of the time"
"You did?" huh he never told us that in the killing game. Then again, if someone tells you they have a knife under their bed, the natural response is to be scared of them.
"Yeah. Kinda gave me a sense of security and comfort" Makoto shrugged.
"I guess that makes sense" I mumbled.
"guess old habits stick huh?" Makoto smiled a little nervously.
"You should know that theres no danger here though"
"How nice of you to say that after we literally got chased up the stairs and into the room by Leon" Makoto said sarcastically.
"Well- that was just a prank" I said.
"Still helped"
I huffed, "Okay then. It's a little strange that theres a knife under the bed but I won't complain"
"You kinda are" Makoto pointed out.
"Hmph barely"
Makoto checked his phone, "We should go to bed. It's pretty late"
"Yeah thats valid. Though I probably won't be able to sleep after that" I glanced over at the door as if I expected the real teke teke to burst through and chop off our legs.
"It'll be fine, don't worry. After all, it is fake" Makoto exhaled.
"yeah....fake" I nodded.
Soon we drifted off the sleep.

teke teke.
The girl dragged herself through the streets of Jabberwock island. How unfortunate. Everyone is asleep.
teke teke.
She'll come back later.
She gripped her scythe as she grinned wildly. Sooner or later, she'll find a new victim.
