《Sinfully Imperfect》18. Street Footie & Cheater-Cheater Pumpkin Eater

"Is this all right, Soph?" Ivy had asked me for her outfit for the umpteenth time. I rolled my eyes at her again, like I had done before. "For the love of God, Iv, you're going to study there."
She sighed and sat next to me, grumbling "No, Soph, you're not getting it. We're having a class with seniors, which implies he'll be there as well. " I grabbed my materials for my classes.
"You look great in any outfit. So, choose your pick. " She sulked for a while before settling on an oversized blue hoodie.
We were scheduled to go to a seminar where the Deans would brief us about the approaching event, which meant we'd have a combined session with the seniors. The lecture was held at 5 p.m., after our lessons, so that our studies were not disrupted by the Uni Day.
"Ivy, hurry up, we're going to be late."
"When is he going to show up? Only five minutes remain. " Ivy was impatiently waiting for Senior Chase in the seminar hall. The seminar hall was nearly filled, with representatives from the clubs and a few members of the student council.
"Probably he's on his way."
"Ah, they've arrived." I looked up from my lap to see Senior Poker Face, Senior Kyla, Senior Chase, and a few other seniors entering. Senior Chase glanced up, as if sensing my gaze, and his amber orbs met mine. He smiled as he moved closer to us.
"Soph, they're coming here." We sat in the middle of the hall, with a few vacant seats in front of us. They sat in the row front of us. An anxious sensation settled in the pit of my belly once more. Senior Aylwin sat directly in front of me, his silky locks perfectly combed in. He was dressed in a tight black shirt that clung to his muscular frame, allowing me to get a proper view at his sculpted figure. I felt a rapid rise in my ambient temperature.
I should've brought a can of coke with me.
As the Deans entered the class, I hastily averted my sight. They were five of them, each well-dressed and holding a journal and paperwork.
"Let's get this class started, shall we?" They began to provide us precise details about the forthcoming grand event after that.
"We appreciate everyone's cooperation. Session dismissed. " We were ultimately set free after a one-and-a-half-hour continuous session.
Senior Chase's voice halted me as I got my stuff and was about to depart. "Yes?"
"We're having a street football match tomorrow. You girls wanna come? You may also call your buddies. The more, the merrier!"
I scowled, "Street football match? Aren't you a soccer player?"
"Yeah, sure!" Ivy smiled and nodded enthusiastically. The girl would be giddy with ecstasy.
He smirked evilly, "Yes, it's a little edgy; in a bad boy style. Soccer inside Uni, and football outside Uni. Bro, by the way, will also play."
"I'd love to come." I cocked my head and smirked.
"Very well then! Mysie will inform you of the location and time."
"How much longer, Mysie?"
"Ah, we're here!" We all came to a halt in front of a massive football stadium that I had no idea existed. Teenagers and adults were playing football in the area. I expected it was where we'd come to a halt, but I was sorely mistaken. Mysie guided us in the direction of the stadium's opposite side. It was some sort of dark alleyway. Mr. Ogling Owl from that night flashed across my mind whenever I walked across such alleys. Regardless, we arrived to a football stadium that was neither too large nor too small. It gave off the feelings of a street football match. It was thrilling, terrifying, and exhilarating at the same time. I had no clue who would win, but one thing was certain: I was going to have a great time watching this game.

I passed a group of seven scary youths eyeing us, dressed in black jerseys, with dyed hair, tattoos, and piercings. Some tied their hair in ponytails, while others had long dreadlocks. They were smoking and emanated a bad boy vibe.
"They're the ones Aylwin brother is up against." Oh shit!
"Who they are?" I asked Mysie, as we made our way towards our group.
"The Wreckers. They believe they are the King of the Streets, yet they are completely delusory."
"Hello there! When's the match going to start? " Mysie inquired one of the Senior's friends. My gaze was drawn to the bulky, dark figures who kept a close check on us.
"Well, the fellas have gone to change." That's when I noticed there were a few small cabins. The place was nice, after all.
"Why are they playing this match?" Saphy's voice was tinged with inquisitiveness.
"You know, a few weeks ago, the brother of the Wreckers' leader had a race with brother Aylwin in which he was handily trounced. They got into a fight because the young lad couldn't endure the agony of his defeat. Baby Brother complained Big brother, so as a devoted big brother, he came over all macho and challenged Brother Aylwin to a street football match. Tada, here we are! "
"Seems like your brother Aylwin has a long list of challenges. " I joked, sharing a chuckle with them.
"You never know girl, you never know! "
"Ah, they are here! " My gaze clashed with those dark oceanic orbs, which were as hard as a glint. He was dressed in a jersey, and cleats. He motioned with fingers towards the Wreckers. I saw Damien joining them wearing a jersey too.
"He plays? " Both Ivy, and I asked at a same time.
Saphy winked at us, "Rough one, indeed! "
Both the teams marched towards the field. They were total 6-6 each side, including a goalkeeper. "Wasn't football a game of 11-11? "
"Street footie darling, street footie. " I sighed. The atmosphere was tight, brimming with dominant fury. I was convinced that something significant was going to happen, and their flaming demeanor confirmed my suspicions. Mysie was standing near the scoreboard with Zoe, a black girl with piercings and waist-length dreadlocks.
Oh, good god, just make sure no one dies today.
"Let the game begin! "
"Oh, my goodness! They're clearly cheating. " Ivy screamed once more, but it went ignored.
"That, Ivy, is what street football is all about! No rules, nothing. Just rough!"
They were entirely right. The game was rougher than I could have imagined. The Wreckers seemed like the haters of rules. They were having a great time cheating, and no one bothered them. That was, after all, the real street game. Senior Aylwin's team, on the other hand, was performing admirably, breaching just a few minor rules. They'd been playing for thirty minutes, and the scoreboard was beaming with the scores; .
Player 5 of the opposition team dribbled the ball and passed it to player 2, but he was quickly tackled by Senior Ryder's foot, who kicked the ball towards Senior Drew but missed it. Opposition player 1 trapped it, but instead of going for the goal post, he went for a different target. He harshly kicked the ball, sending the ball soaring into the air. In the spur of the game, everything transpired in a haze. It was going to hit Damy when Senior Chase shoved him to the side, injuring him in the process. What the heck!
"Senior Chase! "

"Fucking bastard! "
"Oh no! "
"Bloody Wreckers! "
My teammates screeched obscenities after obscenities, and to be honest, they earned it. Nasty rascals! Senior Chase was on the ground, his good hand clutching his shoulder. I stood there watching as everyone flocked to him. Senior Aylwin and Damien assisted him in standing up. They all gradually approached us. The smug expressions on those rascals' faces did not go unnoticed.
Mysie attended to Senior Chase's injuries while he sat on the bench. We were relieved to learn that the only damage was a dislocated shoulder. Ivy had an ice pack applied to his arm. The girl was on the verge of tears. Her eyes glistened with concern and compassion for him. Seeing the duo made me smile.
Senior Aylwin had remained silent the entire time. He reclined on the pole, arms crossed and eyes closed. He had his fingers clenched into a fist. His brow was covered with tiny sweat droplets. Even a fool could tell how hard he was struggling to keep his rage under control. None of them spoken to him yet, knowing that the Wreckers had awoken a sleeping beast.
"I'm perfectly fine, bro. Look, I still have the ability to make girls drool. " Senior Chase cracked a light joke after what seemed like an eternity.
Senior Aylwin gently opened his eyes and let his arms fall to his sides. Before facing his injured friend, he combed his fingers through his hair.
"Chase, this isn't fine. They did something that they shouldn't have done. Now it's payment time. " Every word that came out of his mouth was venomous and lethal. I couldn't decide whether I should be relieved that he wouldn't spare them or sorry for the scumbags who were only a few inches away from being confined to hospital beds. I sighed, knowing that whatever was going to happen would undoubtedly wreck the Wreckers.
"Just don't kill them, bro."
They both smirked. "Oh, trust me, I won't. Just a little extra special treatment, you know! " That 'extra special treatment' seemed too special to me.
Senior Ryder mumbled, "Rest in Peace, Wreckers!" which made us chuckle.
"Austin, man, you have to take his space," Damy said abruptly.
"Don't tell me he plays, too?" he smirked, as if to confirm my suspicions.
Austin looked conflicted for a moment. He stood there shocked, as if his long old secret was out. I gently placed my hand on his shoulder, causing him flinch, and my hands dropped. Why did he always flinch on touching?
"C'mon, you can do it. "
"Yeah bro, please, let's show them! " Felix soon joined me in persuading him. Reluctantly, he gave a nod.
"He won't break the rules, will he? " I asked Senior Chase, referring to Senior Aylwin.
"He won't break the rules, yet... he'll. "
Senior Drew started the game with a kick-off. It hadn't even made it 10 yards before being tackled and sent towards the goal post by opposing player 4. He chip kicked it, and the ball flew into the air, only to be stopped by Senior Jake. He served as our team's goalkeeper. Austin trapped the ball from player 3 while dribbling and passed it to Senior Aylwin, who hit it with his chest and the ball sailed into the goalpost.
"Yay! "
"Fuck yes!"
The game continued for the following forty minutes, with intense scores of . It was a tie, to be sure. The match's winner was determined by their last goal. With fierce tenacity and a desire to triumph, the atmosphere became denser.
"Ready to lose, Eldred?" Opposition player 1, a.k.a. The Wreckers' leader, made a remark. I couldn't believe he still had the audacity to mock him. His two teammates were already injured, and all thanks to Senior Aylwin, and Austin. I had no idea Austin could play as well as he did. His movements were razor-sharp, quick, yet rough, which was remarkable and impressive to say the least.
"Wanna play a real game, Wreckers? Be a man, boys! " Senior Aylwin retaliated with a rejoinder of his own. In his velvety voice, the underlying mockery and fury were palpable. It was the last round, the final goal, and the final chance.
A throw-in kicked off the game. Player 1 (Michael) struck the ball with his chest, which Austin trapped, and passed to Senior Ryder. He kicked it towards Senior Drew, but it was tackled by player 5, who passed it to player 4. Austin dribbled him down and gave the ball to Damy. For a time, the whole thing went on, and I realized what they were up to. They were toying the Wreckers, and I couldn't help but chuckle at their dilemma. In a minute or two, the game would be over.
"You piece of shits, stop fucking toying!" Michael spoke out between gritted teeth.
"Now, where's the fun in that, isn't it?" Senior Ryder mocked him once more.
Player 3 had the ball and passed it to Michael, but he was tackled by Austin's foot, who dribbled and kicked it towards the goalpost, but it was trapped by player 2. Oh, shit! The game was going to come to an end at any moment. He passed the ball to Michael, who swatted it towards the goalpost, but Damy whacked it with his head, allowing Senior Drew to take over. He tackled it while dribbling and passed the ball to Austin, who made the last move, but Michaels again tackled it with his chest.
"Man, this Michael dude isn't that bad. " Felix stated, receiving a nod from us.
The game was growing exceedingly challenging. Michael headed for the goalpost, but Senior Ryder tackled the ball with his foot while dribbling and passing it to Senior Aylwin.
"Ready to lose, Michael?" Senior Aylwin then dribbled the ball and tossed it up in the air after rolling it up to his knees. He executed a smooth and precise scissor kick at the perfect moment. I was too perplexed to figure out if everything proceeded in slow motion or at a breakneck pace. The ball sped past player 4's nose tip as he attempted to tackle it with his head, eventually striking the goal post and taking the goalkeeper with it.
"Yay! We won. "
"Oh, my goodness! "
"We did it! "
"Yuhoo! "
"That. Was. So. Fucking. Cool "
We were jubilant, dancing, yelling, and rejoicing in our triumph. We rushed up to them, as they did their bro-shakes and all. Of course, excluding Senior Aylwin, who walked up to his friend.
"Um... Sapphire? " Felix encircled her shoulder with his arm. "These young lads can't even kick a ball properly, and yet they come out all macho challenging."
"Both brothers are good for nothing." Senior Chase joined him as well, his arms draping over Ivy's shoulder. Boys!
The Wreckers' faces were flushed with rage. Michaels took a step forward and confronted Felix. He was about to strike him when his wrist was restrained by a hand.
"If you all want to go back the way you came, then I suggest, fuck off." Senior Aylwin's voice was calm yet lethal. Before scurrying away, they cast a final glimpse at us.
