《Sinfully Imperfect》3. Meeting-Greeting, First Day & Hissy-Fit

"Girl, I'm dead tired." I said to Ivy as I sat down on the mattress. We were back in our room after an hour of talking with her friends!

"How did you meet them, by the way, Iv? Isn't it like a week or something that you've been here? " That question was bugging me the entire time.

"Um... Felix and I went to high school together. We all sat together once, and they were a blast to be around. I was like—'Why don't we become friends?' So, we kind of became friends in a way." That was a fast friendship, but I had no doubts about Iv's ability to make friends.

"Good night, roomie!"

"Night, Iv!"

"Ugh!" Frustration?

Yeah, that's what I'm feeling right now!

I couldn't believe a week had gone by and what had I done!? Nothing. That was correct! Did I mention Mr. Procrastination was my best friend?

Heck, it is! It certainly is!

My classes began the following day, and I still had a great deal of work to do in preparation. My room was a mess, my closet was a wreck, my table was a muddle, and my thoughts were a disaster... Heck, even my body was in shambles! No, no, no! That wasn't a disaster, but that was, and that may or may not be a mess, and yeah-yeah, just that!!

Let's have a look back at what happened last week.

So, what exactly did I do? What did I do? WHAT DID I DO? Oh, I recalled that! The first thing I did was go on a campus tour, which, let me tell you, was absolutely important. I appreciated Ivy's cooperation. Then there was the fact that I spent a lot of time with her gang, which was really fascinating. I spoke with Ethel a few times, and he informed me of his upcoming dates.

Freaking playboy!

The best thing was that my mum and dad paid me a surprise visit. Hell, yeah!

Exactly three days ago, I was busy reading a book while mum called me. She told me to come down right away. As I stepped onto the campus, I was shell-shocked to see two very familiar faces. In front of my eyes stood a lady with dark blonde hair and hazel eyes. I dashed up to her and encircled her in my embrace.

"Mum, I missed you a lot."

"Oh sweetie, I missed you too."

"Alice, our daughter has a dad too, remember?" His words made us chuckle. I pulled away from mom as dad embraced me, saying, "Mr. Home is missing his children a lot." Dad never said his feelings directly. It was his way of saying—'I missed you.'

"Tell Mr. Home that I am missing him too." I could sense him smiling.

My dad, Emmett Jasper, was a very confined person. He wasn't one to readily communicate his feelings to others. I was more of a daddy's girl; in fact, I resembled my father more than my mother. I got my dad's light brown hair and hazel eyes. My mother had hazel eyes as well. Weird! I introduced Ivy and showed them my dorm. After about an hour, they were ready to go. Even if it was just for an hour, I was glad to have them.

Returning to the perilous scenario, my lectures would begin the next day, and I was still unprepared. A freshman party was also scheduled for the following day. I'd enlist Ivy's assistance. Iv, on the other hand, had gone missing early in the morning. She was somewhere in the world, and only God knew where she was!

Let's get back to work, shall we?

I heard the door open, signaling that someone had entered. "Hiya!" It was Ivy's tired tone. I glanced at the clock to see it was 8 p.m.

"Where the heck have you been since the morning?" I remarked, my gaze falling on her tired frame. Her hair was tangled, there were drops of sweat on her brow, and her breathing was ragged.

"I was with my sister." She collapsed on the bed as a result of her languor. "Are you really fine? Did you participate in a marathon or something? " Her state was... a shambles?

Heck yes!

"Do you have your pajamas on?" I nodded as I glanced in the mirror. I changed into my PJs after finishing my preparations.

"My eyes are good, my ears are functioning, I can talk well, and it seems some body parts are also perfect, so well, I'm great. Not now, Soph. Later! "

I passed her glass, saying, "Wow, what a short and fast reply! I'm sure your brain isn't fine. It's doing somersaults. Take some rest; I'll get you a cup of coffee. " I went to the canteen to bring her coffee.

It didn't bother me at all, even though I was in my PJs. After all, I was going to a cafeteria to bring coffee, not a runway show to deliver the best-dressed model trophy.

It was a little too crowded and loud in the cafeteria. A group of people were gathered around a central table. The exotic sign of a sport bike on one of the boys' jackets captured my attention. I was tempted to go see, but Ivy's ill health made me reconsider. Perhaps some of the usual sophomore jocks and cheerleaders!

"Hey Ben! One cup of black coffee, please. " I said, smiling at him.

"At your service, Soph." He started brewing my coffee.

"Ben, what's going on over there?" I inquired, pointing towards the crowded table.

His voice shifted from happiness to irritation, "Some pointless brawls and bullying. Need not pay attention to it! Here's a cup of coffee for you. "

"Thank you, and have a nice night!" It was not my place to intervene, so instead of quenching my sense of curiosity, I took my coffee and quietly walked away.

"All set, Iv?" For the tenth time, I inquired.

What the hell has this girl been doing in the bathroom for the past thirty minutes!?

"Soph, take it easy! You sure you're a girl? I hope you realize that there's a thing called "makeup" that takes time." She yelled out.

"In which book does it say that to be a girl you must wear makeup? Are you certain you're putting makeup on your face rather than the faces of the walls and mirrors? " I heard a frustrated groan accompanied by the door opening.

At long last!

Her outfit consisted of a cream tank top paired with high-waisted blue jeans. Her red hair was neatly tucked into a ponytail. She smiled and gave me a head-to-toe glimpse.

What!? Do I look funny?

She chuckled and said, "No, you don't! You do, in reality, have a cute appearance." Did I think aloud? My outfit consisted of an oversized white panda hoodie and black jeans. As always, I wore my messy brown curls in a bun. "Let's get going; you're going to make us late!" She pulled me along.

Look who's talking 'bout being late!?

As I expected, the hallways were filled. Freshmen and sophomores were strewn around the place. We split up as our majors were different. I eventually found my first lesson, after a few turns and walks.

I sat in the front row of the massive room. A woman in her mid-fifties entered the room a few minutes later, holding thick folders.

Dude, the session began today itself, remember!?

She was dressed professionally in a teal suit and had big black rimmed lenses over her nose. She introduced herself as Mrs. Marilyn Jones and set her things on the tall wooden desk facing us and began her lecture.

Hello to you too, Mrs. Jones.

"Oh, my goodness, that sucks! I'll see you at the break. " We parted our ways after Ivy's relentless bickering.

'I don't like the class.'

'Why is there journalism in the world?'

'Can't we all learn the simple stories, and poems?'

'Can't journalism books have pictures of hot hunks instead of complicated theories?' I had to laugh at the last one. The girl had a personal dislike for journalism.

Mr. Journalism, I'm sorry, but I think she doesn't like you... Heck, I'm not even very fond of you!

Soph, just two more classes!

I gathered my belongings while thinking about that. So far, the classes have been enjoyable, albeit tedious.

"See ya, Sophronia!" I turned around to see Winter smiling at me.

"See ya, Winter!" I replied as I walked into the cafeteria. Winter Grey was my project partner for that year. With her jet-black hair and emerald green eyes, she had the appearance of a model. Her small stature and sun kissed skin gave her a stunning look.

I looked around for my friends before picking up my tray and heading their way. They were engrossed in their conversation. Lunch was shared between sophomores and freshmen, while juniors and seniors ate in separate wings.

"Are you going to tonight's party, Soph?" That was the topic I'd been putting off for the whole week.

I shrugged, "Mr. Party and I don't get along. So, if I don't go for one, that's good."

Damy gave me an irritated look and said, "Please, no! It isn't every day that you attend a freshmen gathering, and who knows, maybe you'll meet some hot hunks. " I laughed and shook my head.

"So, you in?" Felix asked, showing me his puppy eyes and dimple. Damn!

I nodded, sighing. "We'll meet at the campus, sharp at 7."

The rest of the day went by pretty well, excluding the fact that Ivy had complained a lot. Sometimes, I doubt she was suffering from chronic complaining syndrome or obsessive complaining disorder.

Maybe both! Who knows?

"Ah, at long last! This moron of a professor can't really do this to me! I don't think he's natural or something. Maybe he isn't human at all. Perhaps he's a vampire who feeds on the blood of stressed students. As a result, he assigned us a plethora of tasks in order to make our blood taste as good as sugar. Maybe he's a murderous psychopath who murders students by overloading them with assignments, presentations, and other responsibilities! Maybe he's friends with the maker of the Blue Whale game and encourages kids to commit suicide because they're overworked. Or maybe he's a member of the Italian or Russian mafia, and he's hatching a new scheme to assassinate us by assigning tasks. Or maybe... "

"Breathe, Ivy, breathe! Calm, relax! " I interrupted her before she could mention any more "maybes."

Huffing, she sat down on the bed. "Ivy, you sure you aren't suffering from chronic complaining syndrome or obsessive complaining disorder?"

She stood up right in front of me and gave me a look that screamed—'Are you crazy? I'm perfect! '

"When did I complain?"

That was my chance to give her a glare that said—'Who's the one who's been whining all day? Unborn aliens of Jupiter or you! '

"Ms. Ivy Morris, hear me loud and clear. Mr. Assignment has been assigned to us all by Professor George. Mr. Assignment, too, did not want to be assigned, but he is. So, for Mr. Assignment's sake, we must finish it; otherwise, I'm not sure whether you'll commit suicide or not, but Mr. Assignment will, without a doubt, commit suicide. Have you grasped what I'm saying? " With wide eyes and a nod of her head, she gazed at me. I walked into the restroom without saying anything.

Poor thing. Face it! It's going to be a long day today!
