Part 3: Going Down Six Feet Under
I held my hand up in front of my face. I moved my fingers.
I couldn't see anything at all. Nothing. I couldn't detect the slightest hint of movement. The darkness surrounding me was perfectly complete.
I tried to keep my breathing under control. The faster I breathed, the more oxygen I used up, and the less time I would have to live.
That's what I'd heard about being buried alive, anyway. I didn't see why it wouldn't be true.
Not that it really mattered whether I'd have just a few minutes to live or an hour. One way or another, this was it. I tried hard to accept the fact that I was going to die soon, that my life was going to end, that I was already beginning to suffocate. But it just didn't seem like it could be real, no matter how hard it was getting to breathe the air.
I reached out and touched the rough wood only a few inches in front of my face. I could feel its raw, grainy texture. The scent of freshly-cut pine was overwhelming.
This was real.
When I was a kid I used to think that the most horrifying way to die would be to be buried alive. Worse than drowning, worse than getting killed in a car accident, worse even than being burned to death. The pain of burning would be unimaginably excruciating, I knew. But the horror wouldn't quite compare to suffocating inside a narrow, hot box beneath six feet of heavy dirt.
I even used to promise myself that I'd never get close to a coffin as long as I lived. Inviting even the remote possibility of ending up trapped inside one seemed like a stupid risk to take.

And yet somehow here I was. I'd let it happen.
I felt around for my cell phone and clicked it on. The screen's dim light glared.
The battery was now almost completely dead. I'd lost count of how many times I'd tried checking my phone for a signal. Nothing had changed; there was no service this far underground, and there wasn't ever going to be.
I clicked off the screen.
Once again I was lost in darkness.
How did I end up here? It all started two days earlier, after Morgan was raped . . .

Dungeon Games
The world of Terra holds a very interesting and unique pastime, a game called Dungeon Wars. The game was developed after an accident created a form of Artificial intelligence that was able to create, and sustain it's own miniature habitat with an ecosystem based off of the creatures that began as it's 'start' This in turn created a craze of a new, and somewhat fun method of research that grew and became a game. They sold these A.I units for a modest sum, along with starter races, and from there it took off to become something larger, and greater. Welcome to the Dungeon Wars, a tournament based system where gamers can earn the points needed to increase their Dungeon pet A.I. quicker than natural means, and earn rare and prized races to add into their miniature ecosystem.

The story of a fire elemental's life in a world dominated by mages. He will have to learn how to manage betrayals, treachery, and maybe even love as he goes on adventures to find a meaning to it all. From dark, humble beginnings he will rise... or fall, devastating amounts in his journey across the world. Hello, Author here! I am, unfortunately, rather terrible at coming up with descriptions that seem to have the right amount of decorum and yet actually serve their function of adequately describing the story, so here's the coursenotes. - The story follows a fire elemental. (As you can tell from that, it is heavily besed on fantasy with mages and the like. Technology will not feature prominently) -As mentioned in the tags, this will have game-like aspects. (E.G. levels, stats. I will be trying to put my own twist on this notion however, so bear with me if the premise intrests you but you despise LitRpg) -It'll get rather dark, but not devastatingly so. (I'm trying to write a more complex story so it will have its dark moments, the prologue being one of them. Rest assured the whole story will not be this dark, though I'll make sure that no-one is a saint either) -The protagonist/protagonists will not be a Mary-Sue. (The plural will be understood when I'm further into the story. They also won't be impossiby unlikeable such as those in many Light novels.) -There is no prophecy (Anyone who says there is, is lying, trust me.)

A cooling corpse lies upon a pool of beautiful crimson. Fifty-six stabs defile the body. Blood trickles down, splash by splash, flowing freely into the sewage. The dim moonlight shines upon the body as dawn threatens to break. A single figure stands above the corpse. His fingers clench the handle of a bloodied kitchen knife tightly. This is Alister Moore. He stands there, quivering in his boots. Just a split second ago, he'd been drinking, pissing, cursing; the activities of a regular laid-off salaryman. A single thought fills his mind. What the fuck just happened?
