Brea and Bella leaned up against Edward's car waiting for him to take them home....
Jasper casually walked by.... Bella pushed off the car and started to follow him.
"Jasper! Are you sure there's nothing I can do?" Bella asked.
"Bella.... our presence alone will distract the newborns. Their hunting instincts will take over driving them absolutely crazy... they will all be unable to concentrate," Brea said.
Jasper turned to face Brea.... a small smile appeared on his face.
"As Brea said... your presence alone will distract them," Jasper smirked.
"Good! I'm glad I can help! Also, how do you know so much about all of this?" Bella asked.
"I didn't have quite the same upbringing as my adopted siblings," Jasper smiled, rolling up his sleeves which revealed bite marks.
"WHOA! BREA LOOK!" Bella called out.
Brea quickly rushed towards them... her jaw dropped when she saw the bite makes.
"They look like mine!" Brea replied.
"Battle scars! All the training the confederate army gave me was useless against the newborns. Still, I've never lost a fight," Jasper smirked... slowly walking away.
Brea grabbed his arm and pulled... not realizing her strength.. Jasper stumbled. He turned and looked at her and laughed.
"This happened during the civil war?" Brea asked.
"Yes ma'am! I was the youngest major in the Texas Cavalry. All without having seen a real battle," Jasper said.
"U-Until?" Bella's asked.
"Until I met a certain immortal.... Maria," Jasper replied.
Brea walked up and gently placed her hands on Jasper's forehead... she looked into his eyes.
"I was riding back to Galveston after evacuating a colony of women and children when I saw them....I immediately offered them my aid," Jasper sighed.
While Jasper told his story.... Brea was looking at his memories of that time period, from the moment he met Maria....

"Maria was creating an army?" Bella asked.
"They were very common in the south. Constant brutal battles for territory! Maria won them all. She was smart, careful and she had me....to do all of her dirty work. I was her second in command, my ability to control emotions served her well. I trained newborns, but in this occupation...since she never let them live beyond the first year, it was my job to dispose of them. I could feel everything they felt," Jasper sighed.
Brea pulled her hands away.... feeling what Jasper had felt. Pain filled her eyes.
"I thought what Maria and I had was love. But I was her puppet, she pulled the strings....I didn't know there was another way, till I met Alice. How she seen me coming of course," Jasper smiled, allowing his thick country accent to come out.
Suddenly Alice appeared next to Jasper.
"You kept me waiting long enough," Alice frowned.
"My apologies ma'am. I don't know what I'd become without," Jasper smirked.
"Awe!" Brea said.
"Shhh.... you never have to be that ever again!" Alice replied, pulling Jasper in for a kiss.
"You guys are so cute! I am so glad you both found one another.... everyone deserves to have love," Brea said.
"Brea! You and Edward have the same kind of love," Bella laughed.
"What? NOOOOO," Brea smiled.
"Don't lie.... that smile is telling a different story," Jasper smirked.
"You know what! You guys are unbelievable!!" Brea scoffed.
"Whose unbelievable?!" Edward asked, from behind Brea.
Alice, Jasper and Bella all busted into laughter....
"They are!" Brea said, turning around to face Edward.... who was holding back a laugh.
Mhm....Bella isn't lying, but believe what you want," Edward smiled.
"You know what.... I can't with you guys," Brea said, holding back a smile.
"You girls ready?" Edward asked.
"Absolutely!" Bella smiled.
Brea rolled her eyes and started walking towards Edward's car.... mumbling under her breath.
