《The Golden Swan // Edward Cullen》Chapter twenty-seven

Brea tired navigating her way to the meadow, she looked from her map to the compass....after backtracking many times, she had finally found the meadow.
"H-Here we are, it use to be something so beautiful....now it's all dead," Brea sighed, remembering how it was once filled with life and many exotic colors.
"This is where you and h-him used to come, right?" Bella asked.
Brea nodded.
There was a sudden rustle coming from across the field, Brea and Bella looked up.... And see Laurent, standing a few yards away.
"Laurent?" Brea asked.
"Brea. Bella." Laurent smirked.
"Laurent!" Brea smiled, realizing he's real.
"I must admit, I didn't expect to find you both here....alone," Laurent said.
"I-We live here. But you-I thought you were in Alaska with Carlisle's friends?" Brea asked, pulling Bella behind her.
"Tanya, I was! It was kind of him to arrange, given my association with James and Victoria, 'The enemy'," Laurent smirked.
"Y-You tried to help us," Bella spoke up.
"I went to visit the Cullen's, but their house was empty. I'm surprised they left Brea behind. Weren't you sort of a pet of theirs?" Laurent asked.
"Um...something like that," Brea smiled weakly.
"Do the Cullen's visit often?" Laurent asked.
Suddenly Edward's apparition appeared next to Brea...causing her to jump.
"Brea, Lie!" Edward said.
"All the time! Actually!" Brea smiled.
"Lie better!" Edward replied.
"I'll tell them you stopped by!" Brea said.
Edward's apparition soon started to disappear, causing Brea to relax.
"Will they be able to reach you in Alaska?" Brea asked.
"I don't think so! Tanya's 'vegetarian' family was pleasant enough. But the dietary restrictions were difficult...living on nothing but animals, Tell me Brea. Do you ever feel compelled to cheat?" Laurent asked.

Brea took a step back....growing uncomfortable.
"But that's not why I left. I came back here as a favor to Victoria," Laurent smirked.
"Y-You're still friends?" Brea asked.
"More or less. She asked me to get the lay of the land with the Cullen's. Because, well....I'm afraid Victoria is quite put out with you," Laurent said.
"That's too bad," Brea replied.
"Yes! She feels it's only fair to kill Edward's mate, given he killed hers. Eye for an eye, mate for a mate," Laurent smirked.
"Threaten him!" Bella whispered.
"Edward will know who did it! He'll come after both of you!" Brea growled.
"I don't think he will! After all, how much could you mean to him if he left you here unprotected? Victoria sent me here for information. She won't be happy about my killing you...and once I kill you, I'll kill your sister as well," Laurent smirked, waking closer.
Brea grew angry...she felt her body burn at the thought of Laurent wanting to kill her sister, a loud growl escaped her lips...sounding like an animal. A wolf.
"NO! LAURENT!" Brea growled.
"No, no, no. Don't be upset! I'm doing you a kindness. Victoria plans on killing you slowly, painfully...whereas I'll make it very quick! But you smell so...mouth watering," Laurent smiled.
Brea threw her head back and then forward.... She soon found herself on all fours, but much taller then Laurent.
Laurent froze...
"Impossible," Laurent whispered, fear filled his eyes.
Brea turned to look at Bella, who looked like she had seen a ghost.
Suddenly Brea snapped her head towards Laurent and charged at him, she noticed how fast she had gotten....she looked down at her hands and noticed she had paws, very large paws.

"BREA!" Bella yelled.
Brea turned around and saw a pack of large wolves emerge from the woods behind Bella. She turned and looked at Laurent and continued to chase him.
Laurent turned around and faced Brea, smacking her... she flew halfway across the field. Quickly standing and charging after him.
Brea grabbed Laurent by the arm and threw him down...standing over him. A loud, thunderous growl escaped her mouth and she quickly grabbed him by the throat, pulling. There was a loud snap. Brea looked down at his body and noticed that she had just killed a vampire. She stumbled back and started to flee away, but was stopped by a large black wolf.
A wave of emotions washed off Brea, she quickly found herself running away from them...looking for Bella, who was nowhere insight.
Brea entered the woods and found herself back into her human form.
"BELLA! WHERE ARE YOU!" Brea called out.
"Brea?" Bella said, walking out from behind a tree.
Brea sighed in relief, knowing her sister was okay.
"So... I guess we figured out what's wrong with you," Bella smiled.
"I-I guess so," Brea said, she looked down and noticed she was naked.
She looked up at Bella and pointed at her jacket.
"C-Can I borrow your jacket?" Brea asked, trying to cover herself up.
Bella laughed.... handing her jacket to her sister.

Delve
Summary – Level 1: Delve is an isekai litrpg that follows an average guy who just happened to wake up in a forest one day. He wasn’t summoned to defeat the demon lord or to save the world or anything like that, at least as far as he can tell. The only creature there to greet him was a regular old squirrel. Soon enough, he meets other people, only to discover that he can’t speak the language, and that not everybody immediately trusts random pajama-wearing strangers they met in the middle of the wilderness. Things generally go downhill from there, at least until the blue boxes start appearing. Delve is a story about finding your way in a new, strange, and dangerous world. It’s about avoiding death, figuring out what the heck is going on, and trying to make some friends along the way. It’s not about getting home, so much as finding a new one. Did I mention that there will be math? Summary – Level 2: Okay, but what are you in for, really? Well, this story is supposed to be realistic, or at least, as realistic as a fantasy litrpg can be. The main character doesn’t instantly become an all-powerful god and murder-hobo his way across the universe. Delve is, at its heart, a progression fantasy, but that progression is meant to feel earned. The numbers in this story actually mean something. Everything is calculated, and if you find a rounding error, I expect you to tell me about it. That said, if math isn’t your cup of tea, there is plenty more that the story has to offer. Characters are meant to feel real, and progression isn’t only about personal power; it’s also about allies, connections, and above all, knowledge. Figuring out how the system works is a significant theme. ... What, you want more details? Okay, fine, but this is going to get a bit spoiler-y. Are you sure? Yes! Really sure? I mean, this summary is practically half as long as the first chap– Now! Okay, okay! The main character becomes a magic user, but he takes a route that is not very popular in adventurer culture, namely that of a support. There is a full magic system with various spells, skills, and abilities, but our MC decides that aura magic is the way to go, and that the only stat worth investing in is mana regeneration. Most people at the Adventurer’s Guild think that this makes him a bit of a dumbass, but he’s playing the long game. We’ll see how that works out for him, won’t we? Because of his build, the MC levels up fast, at least compared to normal people. There are no cheats, though, and he is limited in other ways. There are some clear and pretty obvious downsides to his build. That’s what makes it fun, no? Morals? Our MC has them. Again, we’ll see how that works out for him. Realism, remember? Would you be okay with killing someone and looting their body? I sure hope not. POV? The focus is on the main character, but there will be occasional varying perspectives from people around him, or involved in the events related to the main plot. It isn’t going to jump all over the place. Tech is standard medieval stasis. No smartphones, but the MC does have a technical background. Computers and their programming might be involved. There might even be a bit of uplifting down the road, who knows? Anyway, it isn’t the focus. He isn’t going to invent the gun in chapter 1 and change the face of warfare. Romance is not a major focus. Friendships are more the name of the game, though there will be some characters in romantic relationships. There is exploration, though not as much of the geographical nature as you might expect. It is more about exploration of the system and the culture. The pace is slow and detailed, sometimes verging on slice-of-life. The action is meant to be realistic and grounded in the numbers, and it is intended to have meaning beyond simply punching things until they stop moving. The general tone of the story is grey, and some parts can get quite dark. People die. Sometimes, people with names, but not anywhere near GoT level. There is plenty of light, too, though, to balance the darkness. The world is dangerous, but overcoming that danger is why we’re all here, isn’t it? Anyway, if you’ve made it this far through the summary, you clearly like words. I hope you enjoy the story! Cover by Miha Brumec Summary Updated: 2020-06-14
