Brea and Bella walked outside, the cold morning ..... air nips their faces.
Bella shivered, wrapping her coat around her body, tightly.
"Great!" Bella mumbled.
Brea laughed.
They both turn their head when they see Charlie pull into the driveway, driving Bella's truck.
"Dad, I can drive myself to school," Bella replied.
Both sister's walk down the steps.... Suddenly Bella had slipped and fell into Brea knocking her down.
Bella groaned.
But Brea laughed even harder.
Charlie climbed out of the truck and rushed to the both of them.
"You girls okay?" Charlie asked. Concern filled his voice.
"Ice doesn't help the uncoordinated," Bella replied.
"We are like dominoes! When one falls the other is sure to follow," Brea laughed.
"That is why I got you new tires! Brea, I'll get you new tires tomorrow, could you ride with Bella....today? Please?" Charlie asked.
Brea nodded...understanding where he was coming from.
"Y-You got me new tires?! No one has ever done that before," Bella smiled.
"I-I'll be late for dinner. I'm heading down to Mason County. A security guard at the Grisham Mill got killed by some kind of animal," Charlie sighed. Walking over to his cruiser.
"An animal?!" Brea asked...wanting to know more.
"You kiddos aren't in Phoenix anymore. They've been hunting it for a week with no luck. Thought I'd lend a hand," Charlie replied.
"Dad, Please be careful," Brea sighed.
"Always am!" Charlie smiled.
"T-Thank you! For the tires," Bella smiled.
Brea looked at Bella and Charlie... she noticed how he didn't react.
***************
"Yeah! Prom committee is a chick thing, but I got to cover it for the paper anyway... and they need a guy to help choose the music, so I need your playlist," Eric said, staring at Brea... who was lost in a new book. Gone With The Wild.
Suddenly someone ripped the book out of her hand.... She growls with frustration.
"Come on! Arizona sisters! Brea stop reading it's not cute," Mike smirked.
Brea, Bella, Eric and Mike all walk into Bio.... Brea looked angry.
"Mike I swear to GOD if you don't give me back my book.... I-I will break your arm," Brea growled.
Mike laughed and leaned towards Brea.

Brea looked around and noticed the teacher wasn't in the room yet...She quickly grabbed Mike by the arm and pinned him against the wall.
"Give me my BOOK!" Brea growled.
"O-okay....j-just let me go," Mike cried out in pain.
Brea straightened herself... snatching the book from Mike and started walking towards her seat, she froze when she noticed Edward was sitting there... with a huge grin on his face.
"H-hello!" Edward said.
Brea sat down and looked at him stunned.
"I didn't have a chance to introduce myself last week. My name is Edward Cullen and you're Brea," Edward replied.
"U-I'm....yes," Brea smiled.
Suddenly Mr. Molina walked into the classroom.
"Onion root tip cells! That's what is on your slides. Separate and label them into the phases of mitosis. The first partners to get it right, WIN.....THE GOLDEN ONION!" Mr. Molina smiled.
"Come on, people! TICK TOCK," Mr. Molina replied.
Everyone sets to work. Edward gently pushes the microscope to Brea, keeping his distance.
"Ladies first," Edward said.
Edward smiled.
"Y-You've been gone, Did I offend you?" Brea asked.
"No. out of town.... For personal reasons," Edward said.
She glanced at him but he moved away from her. Brea looked into the microscope.
"Prophase," Brea replied.
She begins to remove the slide.
"May i look?" Edward questioned.
Brea nodded.
"Prophase!" Edward smiled.
They both write it on their worksheet.
"Enjoying the rain?" Edward asked.
"Y-you're asking me about the weather?" Brea laughed.
"It appears!" Edward said.
"Oh! Well I love the cold.... And I love rain! My sister however... doesn't," Brea smiled.
Brea looked at him and noticed how hard he was fighting back a smile. For the first time, he seems more intrigued than in pain.
"What?" Brea questioned.
Edward shakes his head and turns to look into the microscope. Switching out the slides.
"Anaphase," Edward replied.
Brea smiled and turned to write it down on her paper.
"If your sister hates the cold and rain.... Why did she move here?" Edward questioned.
"She wanted to be with me...I-i was fine with coming alone, but I guess you could say it's a twin thing," Brea shrugged.

"Sounds complicated," Edward replied.
"You have no idea," Brea laughed.
"I think I could keep up, if you explain it to me," Edward said.
Brea was confused as to why he was so interested in her.
Brea snapped her head in his direction.... and frowned.
"Are you okay?" Edward asked.
"I-I my mother remarried," Brea replied, changing the subject.
"And you don't like him or what?" Edward questioned.
"Phil is great! Maybe young for her, but he makes her happy," Brea sighed.
Brea grabbed the microscope....
"Interphase," Brea said.
The bell rang...dismissing class. Brea grabbed her things and hurried out of the classroom but was stopped by Mr. Molina.
"Ms. Swan! Congrats.... You and Mr. Cullen won the golden onion," Mr. Molina smiled, hanging her the onion.
Brea nodded, and rushed out of the classroom....where she then ran into a hard but cold chest, she looked up and saw Edward.
"Why did you both move here? Why not stay with your mom and stepdad?" Edward asked, looking down at Brea.
"Alright! Phil is a minor league baseball player, so he travels a lot. My mother would always stay home with me and Bella, we both saw how unhappy she was. So I-We decided to spend time with our dad.... A-and I feel the most at home here then with my mom," Brea sighed.
"Are you happy here?" Edward asked.
"Happier than I have been in a long time," Brea smiled.
"What about your sister?" Edward asked.
"I-I don't really know," Brea frowned... feeling utter regret.
Brea turned away... feeling sad.
"I-I'm just trying to figure you out! You are very hard to read sometimes," Edward replied.
Brea turned to look back at him...staring into his eyes.
"W-Wow, you have such beautiful eyes... are those contacts?" Brea asked. Getting lost into his golden eyes.
"No!" Edward snapped.
"But your eyes were black before, now they're this golden brown or......" Brea said but was cut off.
"It's just the fluorescents," Edward growled, abruptly turning around and walking away.
***************
The rain had finally stopped, but the parking lot was full of water and patches of black ice.
Brea and Bella made their way across the parking lot...and of course Brea had her nose in a book.
They reach the truck... Brea jumps up on the side and looked across the parking lot, Alice looked at her and waved. Brea waved back.
Brea's eyes met with Edward's, they both stared at one another.....Confusion filled Brea's while Angry filled Edward's.
Suddenly there was a high pitched screech, that quickly grew louder by the second.
Brea and Bella looked toward the noise and see a van skidding on the ice coming straight towards them... without even thinking Brea jumped down and shoved Bella out of the way.... waiting for the van to crush her. She stared at a familiar pair of golden eyes, fear instantly filled her eyes.... while he stared back with such horror. Not wanting to see her die, in front of him.
Brea closed her eyes... waiting to meet death, face to face.
She opened them, when she felt a cool breeze against her face.
She gazed up into a familiar pair of golden brown eyes....Edward was on top of her. Their proximity is overwhelming, electrifying. Both breathing in each other's scent. Brea took in his flawless face.
She moved away and looked, examined on how close the van really was....Edward's hands were creating a deep dent in the side of the van, pushing it away.
Brea looked all around, trying to absorb on what happened. She sighed with sadness when she saw the golden onion on the ground...smashed like she would've been.
Reality set in, Brea placed her hand on Edward's cheek.
Edward gazed into her eyes......Relief instantly filled his eyes when he saw that she was okay.
Brea stood up... carefully and slowly.
"Bella?!" Brea called out.
Bella rushed towards her.... Tears rolling down both of their faces.
'OH MY GOD! BREA!" Bella cried out.
Suddenly everyone flooded around the truck and the van.
"BREA!" Eric called out.
"Are you okay!? Are you hurt?!" Mike said, wrapping his arm around Brea.
Brea shoved him off...
"GUYS! I'M OKAY! JUST GIVE ME SOME DAMN SPACE!" Brea yelled.
Brea looked all around and noticed Edward was nowhere in sight..... it was if he disappeared into thin air. Again.

The Adventures of Alan
What happens when a university professor somehow ends up in another world, where magic bends the laws of nature? Alan is, albeit unwillingly, about to find out. As a professor of physics, he has a decent understanding of how the world works, or so he likes to think. Armed only with his knowledge, Alan is thrown into a world very different from his own. In his new reality, he will meet both friends and foe, he will seek knowledge, he will build power, and perhaps he will even find love again? Follow Alan through his adventures, and find out for yourselves how he deals with the challenges thrown at him by a new world, while struggling with the issues brought with him from his old one. * Author’s note: A fair warning. This is the first time I’ve published anything, and basically the first time I’ve written anything more than mandatory school-stuff. The story will probably have inconsistencies, grammatical errors (not my native tongue, though that excuse is getting old), and potentially confusing (missing?) plot. I will naturally do my best to write something worth reading, but my main goal in writing this story is to have fun and explore the limits of my own creativity. My hope in publishing it here, is that I’ll reach someone who enjoy the story, and can push me forward towards writing more, as it is difficult at times to find the motivation to write just for myself. Additionally, I can’t really promise to have regular updates, as I have a full-time job that often likes to take the ‘full-time’ part literally, and a sporadic social life that occasionally surprises me (happy surprises mostly, so I shouldn’t complain). I’ll aim for once a week to start with, and take it from there. Happy reading! Cover photo by Jeff Hire (/photographer/gun4hire-58415), from https://freeimages.com/.

Contact First
2039 - Earth A narrow beam energy signal appeared aimed squarely at earth from the TRAPPIST system. The communication consisted of a layered set of repeating data over several thousand wavelengths. Over the next few months scientists discovered that the lower wavelengths carried an encoded numerical language which could then be used to interpret the more complicated messages carried on the higher wavelengths. After half a year of painstaking work the signal was fully decoded. It described a small satellite launched along a precise trajectory towards the fourth planet of our solar system. Included was a package of advanced research that humanity would need to have ready in order to receive the satellite and decelerate it safely. The alien data provided the kick that humanity needed to turn from petty squabbling and unite to explore the final frontier. Major government and corporate leaders worked together to create the framework for the United Federation of Sol. UFS spaceports went from scaffolding to daily launches in every major city around the globe. Ships floated like dandelion seeds, spreading on solar wind to grow into colonies. 2397 - Mars orbit, Egeria Station The command center was a hive of activity as checks were conducted and systems initialized. Scientists flitted by like mayflies as communicators beeped and holoscreens spat out green tinted readouts. Nervous energy was thick in the air as everyone anticipated the culmination of over three hundred years of work. Massive fusion reactors under the planet's surface thrummed with barely restrained power as energy fed into a gleaming metallic maze criss crossing the planet. Metal fingers reached up, overshadowing the mighty olympus mons and trying to grab the stars. All over the solar system, people quickly turned to look as gigantic energy lances shot from the dusty fourth planet. Two years later. The same people that clapped loudly at the successful activation of project Hermes now wait with baited breath. A silver capsule trailing bright photonic sails is captured by a net of grav beams and guided with care bordering on reverence into the station. Holoscreens across the headquarters project an image of the sleek craft settling in the bay. Data connections are established and the holoscreens blink to white. Slowly an image forms on the screen. Across the headquarters people stare in wonder as a wholly alien face stares back. "Contact established. Welcome to the universe."
