《The Couple Test》Dal mein kuch kaala hai

"What do we have here?" Dr. Aadhya entered the operation theatre adjusting her gloves.
"The baby had turned blue for a few minutes and he made us do quiet a bit of work on him before we could revive him. His oxygen sat levels are still fluctuating. It could be even aftermath of a stressful delivery or something that requires surgery. Either case we need your intervention and he is 32 weeks. That makes it premature" Dr. Rohan said at one go and looked at her forlorn look.
"Let me take a look then. Thanks for the update" replied Aadhya and went towards the baby who was on the table underneath the fluorescent lights. She marvelled at the sight of the tiny human. He looked really tiny to go through all this at the time of birth.
"Hey handsome , aren't you scaring everybody around you ?" She cooed at the baby and started checking his vitals one after the other.
"Any idea if the mother was administered with the antenatal steroid injection ? Was this an anticipated premature delivery or an emergency" she asked as she checked the infant.
"Emergency. But I wouldn't say exactly cos there was a bit of fetal distress couple of weeks back. But nothing alarming" Rohan updated about his patient.
"Let me do the needful then. He might need to be under our observation for a while and it's better he stays in the Neo natal intensive care section" she instructed the nurses and continued with treating the infant.
"I will wait for you here and let's inform the family together" Rohan replied and sat on the stool observing his sister work her way around.
It took another 30 min to finish all other immediate tests and after informing the family, the siblings went to his cabin for a break after saving 2 lives.
"To my cabin" his phone read a message from his father.
In another 10 min they managed to reach their fathers cabin and to their surprise they found their mother along. They were happy to take the couch.
"Who has done what exactly ?" Rohan asked stifling a chuckle.
Seldom they had such gathering as a family. These things were pretty common when they were kids. When they were dragged to hospital after school to get scolded by their parents for pulling any pranks or any mischief. As far as he remembered he just returned from an awesome surgery and as for his sister is concerned well she was great at the operation theatre but something was sure off. Well it was going to be interesting he thought.

"We have guests coming home this Saturday" Gautam announced and relaxed in his chair. He wasn't too sure how he was going to break the topic to his daughter.
Preeti glared at her husband for beating around the bush.
"Is someone coming to check out Aadhya ?" Rohan asked and got punched in his gut by his sister.
"Thanks for making it easy for me Rohan" Preethi stressed her words eyeing at Gautam.
Aadhya all the while was trying to process what exactly was unfolding in front of her eyes. Her mouth opened and closed like a fish.
"What" she shrieked and Rohan bursted out laughing.
"I believe at the party last weekend, Anand and Purnima took a liking towards you and now they would love to have you married to their son, Avinash. Of course after you both say yes to the arrangement. It's anyways right time. You have been doing well in your field. And he has achieved quiet a bit given his age. We feel its a good alliance plus we know the family" Preeti said and looked at her daughter hopefully.
She took in all the information thrown at her. Now she knew whom they were talking about. It was the same guy who had her attention at the party. And then it struck her, it was again the same guy who ruined her sleep this morning. She probably can't let out too much in front of them. She had no intentions of sharing it with anybody. Hell that would be the end of her in this house.
"What are you thinking Aadhya ?" Gautam asked.
"I need to have a chat with him and I probably can't decide or heck even say a yes on Saturday. I haven't thought about marrying just yet" she surrendered.
"I reckon that should be the same with him as well" Gautam replied.
She simply nodded her head and excused herself. She need to be alone for a while. Get her head around the whole idea of getting married.
"I need to go and have a chat with her. That's one bomb you both just dropped at her" Rohan excused himself and went to her cabin. Her den.
"Hope our decision is right Preeti" Gautam asked with worry masking his face.
"She will be fine" Preeti consoled him though her thoughts were running a marathon in her head.
Nanda Corporation :
The office was constructed with taste. The tall building was nothing short of a sky scrapper. Every room screamed of class in particular the three main cabins. The centre cabin belonged to the CFO, Avinash Mehra. The room itself was spick and span. Not a piece of paper out of place. The files were arranged in order to one side, all the books to the other side. And the wall that he faced was decorated with his awards, certificates and a few pictures of his family.

Avinash Nanda was staring at the same wall. He had come a long way from being a spoilt brat in school to become one of the toppers in his university. There was a fire that was ignited within him after he was suspended from school. His father had almost threw him out of home. He was pampered by his mom the most and she made sure she distanced himself from him afraid he wouldn't reform. His grandmother then took him under her tutelage. Things changed since then. He became a man of few words to people outside his family. He definitely maintained a good distance from women. They could make or break a man. Those who claimed to be his girlfriends never really got to know who he really is. But today was different. She was consuming him. He was sure his parents had an inclination. Nothing escapes his mothers eyes and the way she kept poking him with questions, there was something she was clearly planning. He could crack anybody but not his mother.
"Sir, meeting in 15" his PA informed him.
"Clear my schedule after lunch" he informed his PA, Kartik and walked to the meeting room.
"These numbers are definitely off, Mr. Shekar. I don't think you want me to go through every single transaction and expect me to tally stuff here. This is not even a meeting that I am supposed to be heading. This is audit stuff" Avinash yelled looking at the numbers on the screen.
"Understand sir" his staff mumbled.
"Next week is the board meeting, I need all the financial out-standings , investment details and the tallied accounts that will be a part of the board meeting. I am just not the CFO here. We are a public listed company and bloody hell we are answerable" he shouted scaring everyone in the meeting room.
"Incompetent idiots" he muttered under his breath and dashed out of the meeting room leaving the people behind sweating. They sure had lots to do by the end of today.
"Akhil you wanted something ?" Avinash asked upon seeing his brother in his cabin waiting for him.
"Dadi is back and they want us home" Akhil answered and asked him to pack up.
"I was going to meet her post lunch anyway. What's the rush man ?" He asked.
"No clue but something looks off" Akhil replied.
"Pakka Maa ka haath hai Iss mein (I am sure it has something to do with Ma)" Avinash answered and the brothers walked together.
Nandas :
"We are home" Akhil entered announcing their arrival.
They headed straight to the dining area after being told by the helper. They took their respective places in the dining table and the brothers were happy to see their grandmother after a whole month.
"Ma, gobi paratha for lunch and other Avinash favourites on the table" Akhil asked surprised.
Avinash knew for sure. Something huge was coming his way. He smirked at his brother.
"Arre he was complaining of a splitting headache this morning and so thought of making his lunch enjoyable. Hai na tere aloo paratha bhi (your favourite aloo paratha is there as well)" Purnima smoothly replied and served herself some dal.
"Your mom says she has found you someone. Let's meet her on Saturday. What say Avi ?" Saroj asked and took a bite of the paratha to control herself from laughing.
Avinash choked on his water and almost spat it out.
"Oh and somemore, did you know she is a doctor? What's her name? Gautam's daughter" Saroj asked as if she forgot her name.
"Aadhya Chopra?" Akhil asked surprised.
"Yes yes. Your parents are taken by her and I believe your brother is smitten too. That's what your mother said" Saroj teased Avinash.
"What ?" Akhil yelled looking at his brother who looked definitely bothered.
He couldn't leave the table already and invite more questions his way. With his dadi it would only get worse. He made up his mind to quickly finish his lunch and head back straight to work. Yes that sounds perfect he decided mentally and ate the food making sure he wasn't reacting out of line.

Memoirs of A Healer/Clinical Social Worker: Autobiography of Bruce Whealton
A loving spouse. A healer. How does this person cope with evil villains willing to destroy everything? They convicted the victim... now how does the victim goes on with life as a healer? As the book opens, I was in a psychiatric hospital following a suicide attempt in December 2019. What starts as a simple conversation with another patient changed my life. Most of the rest of the book tells the reader how I got to this point. I experienced profound injustice between 2004 and 2006. By opening with a story about suicide, I want the reader to understand that the injustice was not just something that happened long ago. This book is an account of all the accomplishments and successes that I had in overcoming tremendous odds and challenges. Growing up, I was paralyzed by shyness and lacked social skills, and so the idea of becoming a psychotherapist never occurred to me when I went off to college. I learned that I could overcome those limitations. I wanted to bring that hope and healing to others. Activities like that make life meaningful and bring me joy. The reasons why I was suicidal in 2019 were set in motion in 2000 when a meteor would come crashing down upon the life that I had built leaving me powerless to do anything other than watching everything burn to ashes - the home that I had, the life I had known, the love I had, my career, everything would disappear almost as if it never existed. In that one the year 2000, I could not imagine things could get any worse. But the nightmare would continue for the next few years... culminating in a suicide attempt in 2019. Now, I am connecting with others, building relationships, and finding a reason to live again. I am writing my own story of my life. I will fight against the injustice of the past and offer my gifts to the world. I have so much to offer. I have quite a story to tell. I hope you will help me to move on with my life.
