《Scarlet Taste (Vampire! Yandere x Emotionless! Reader)》22. Secrets and Surprises

No one was reported missing.
Your father didn't want your disappearance to be public and Aiden and Liam were too scared to go to the police about their father.
What were they supposed to tell them? The couldn't just walk into the station and tell the police that their father was missing because then they would have to tell them about you and the monster. "Oh and my father sacrificed a young girl to a red-eyed demon!"
It was horrible.
Their mother, who was resting peacefully in a hospital, didn't remember anything from the night you were abducted. She would ask if "that girl" was okay, but when questioned about "that girl's" identity, Louise would say that she didn't know. Matter of fact, Louise would often forget that she even mentioned anything about a girl. Aiden and Liam just didn't know what to do and to add on to the burden of keeping their father's absence a secret, they had Joel that kept on reminding them that you where missing.
She didn't go to the cops either, but she wanted to. She was just as scared to go into the station as Aiden and Liam, but for a different reason. She didn't want the police to find a body.
No, she hasn't killed anyone, but she didn't want to find out if you were dead or not. Ignorance is truly bliss and she would rather spend the rest of her life thinking you were alive than knowing that you were dead. She knew that you could be alive, but wonder if you weren't... wonder if they never found you... wonder if the cops were corrupted and killed you themselves.
Joel was overreacting, but she had a right to do so... her best friend was missing after all. Joel would rather find you herself without the help of police. If she found your dead body, it would hurt her, but to her, it's better than having a policeman come to her house and tell her, with a look of false sadness, that you were found dead. Her heart would break into a million pieces and to add to that, the police would probably preform an autopsy on you, which scared Joel to the core.
The thought of you getting cut up scared her more than it would if it were somebody else.

At least if she found you on her own, she could be the first to see you and if you were dead... she could cry by herself rather than having a bunch of people visibly pity her.
Then there was Thomas, who woke up the morning after he had assulted John, surprised by the fact that the police weren't knocking on his front door.
And it was like that for a couple of days... no knocking....
Someone should have reported John missing, but there was nothing in the newspaper about it. So Thomas sat there in his kitchen with a mug of coffee in his hand, three days after he had supposedly killed John, and then he smiled. He thought that maybe he was celebrating too soon... he thought that as soon as he let his guard down, the police would bust through the door with their guns pointed at him, but in never happened.
It was different from what happened last time... when his wife went missing. She wasn't really, her family were just overreacting. She was only gone for a day, but her family had a whole search party looking for her. They said she aways called every night to check up on everybody, but the night she didn't, they knew something was wrong. The searched the woods, they went through all the abandoned buildings, but they didn't find her. The next day, she was found in the big city in her car. The car was parked right outside her job. Perhaps she had been working overtime...
But no... she was dead. There was no struggle, she hadn't received any physical trauma, she was very healthy. No one knew how she died. The police had found out that she had been dead for well over twenty four hours, but inside the car was a warm paper cup of coffee with her lipstick and DNA on the rim... almost like she'd been drinking from it minutes before.
She died four days after the doctor had told her that she was infertile... that she could never have any children.
Thomas huffs, a smile still plastered on his face.
Things were working out well for him. Of course, he still had to find you, but finding you wouldn't actually get him arrested. Although, he might be called a kidnapper because he'd be the first person to find you, Thomas wasn't worried. He could use the fact that your father hadn't reported you missing in court. He could cry and say that your stepfather didn't even care enough to look for you. It was perfect and he would definitely win the custody battle.

You could be his simply because you stepfather worried more about his reputation than he did you.
It's been a week since Cain had spoken to Ebben. He was starving. He tried going over to other towns to get blood, but none of it helped with his hunger. Nothing was good enough. He didn't talk to you about drinking your blood yet.
He was too scared.
You were so delicate and fragile in his eyes. Humans could break if you put a little effort into it, but you... to him, you were like a thin sheet of glass. Emotional strain made you fall apart, so what would happen if he were to hurt you physically? Wonder if you started to hate him?
Then one day, Cain had woken up earlier than usual with a voice urging him to rip the flesh of you bones. It wanted to do horrible things to you. No, he wanted to do horrible things to you and before his hands could ever wrap firmly around you neck, he stopped and realized that he was starting to go feral. He was going to turn into a real monster if he didn't feed soon.
Even after realizing what was happening, rather than asking to drink some of your blood, he began distancing himself from you. He thought that what he was doing was the best and that if he was farther away from you, he wouldn't be able to hurt you.
He tried drinking the blood of others, but he only wanted yours. It smelled so good and the sounds that he imagined you making would be so cute...He was becoming sadistic.
Cain had to push you away in order to keep you safe.
That all leads up to where you are now, which is in the deepest part of the left wing. Cain has been ignoring you for a while and you were tired of it. You weren't really mad, just worried and you didn't like feeling that way. He wouldn't talk to you, he couldn't look at you, and he stopped sleeping in the same bad as you. It wasn't even gradual, it was sudden. He just suddenly stopped being so friendly and warm.
You never got that kiss that you wanted and the night he decided to ignore you was the night you slept in a cold bed. Cain didn't even want to cuddle you anymore. You hated the bitter feeling that came along with the cold and without him... it was only cold.
You weren't going to let him leave you. You didn't want him to leave you... not like mother did.
So what better way to get his attention than to disobey one of his rules!
He had told you several times not to go into the left wing. Each of those times, you were caught trying to follow him, but this time you weren't following him. No, you were on your own in a dark and scary hallway. Of course, it wasn't scary to you, it was just dark, but you should have been a little scared because with fear also comes either irrationality or common sense. Without fear, you could be walking into your own grave and you wouldn't even realize it.
The hallway was straight and so all you had to do was walk straight ahead.
It was easy... until you bumped into a wall... no wait, it was a door. Finding the knob was easy enough, it was navigating down the stairs that was hard. You didn't even know there were stairs on the other side of the conveniently unlocked door. It was the suddenly drop of the first stair that made you realize that on the other side of the door was a stairwell.
You used the wall as a balance as you made you way downwards. It was pitch black in the stairwell. At the bottom, was a small space. You could only move forward a few steps before your hands, which were placed in front of you, hit another wall. It was another door and you found the knob, but no matter which way you pushed or pulled, the door wouldn't budge.
Suddenly, the door was pulled open from the other side.

Reality Grants One Chance
Some people are lucky, some aren't, some - have terrible luck. Our "hero" is of the latter kind. During young age he got into an accident, which allowed him to learn the fact that he belongs to a rare group of people.. People diagnosed with lung cancer, which he, however survived. Can't say he's lucky, as his life went downhill from that point... Our story happens years later, when his fate decides to make a loop and throw him in the same kind of accident. He gets hit by a truck. Surviving the crash, suffering just a few scratches, he is ultimately "lucky" to find himself out of the hospital in no time.. however every bit of good luck always brings him terrible luck afterwards. This time pushing him maybe a bit too far.. How far? Making him vanish without a trace and find himself in the middle of an unknown forrest. Doesn't sound bad? He can consider himself lucky? Just wait and see...It can always get worse.. always.. .... Congratulations, you've made it through the intro and into the author note! If you by any chance missed the tags and didn't read the warning, please do that now. I really recommend you to. Before you jump to reading, and unintentionally scar yourself, do mind that the story is about a dark, unforgiving world, a world in which you have more opportunities to die a horrible death, than take a piss. Hero doesn't have great luck, he has dumb persistance, he doesn't go through any trial with a breeze, he pays the price of blood, flesh and tears to live..and will be paying for every mistake.. No one outright explains anything to him, just as us for the most part - he is not sure what the hell is going on.. Some real survival tactics are used as a base of the descriptions, they are as important to the world and character as any other element.. Mind that the story starts really slow, but as the stone starts rolling downhill - the pace gets faster.. Every tag for this novel has a reason to be there, so if you don't see the particular element there, don't panic.. it's either well camoufalged, subtle or simply not encountered as of yet. Big thanks to Hobbo, Enyhrye and Hveth! ...not only pointing that the description could be better, but providing invaluable input.. and being patient enough to give fleshed out advice.

Unique Fusion Magic Hex
World Essence. The mysterious energy coursing throughout the entire land of Vor'ten, and very possibly the entire world. This energy has allowed humanity to flourish, building great empires and vast kingdoms, conquering nature itself with just a sweep of their hand. Humans were the strongest existence, and with the help of channeling this World Essence, many were able to turn into Magic Knights, gaining magical abilities to combat the various fierce beasts throughout the lands.Alas... those glory days of old were long gone. Humanity has now been pushed to the brink of destruction, and now the remaining members of the human race are encased within giant domes known as 'Alkkras', made with the last remaining bits of the World Essence. It was said that those giant domes were the last gifts left by the remnants of the ancient human race, as a means to protect the future generation from the attacks of the many wild beasts roaming outside. Five Spiritualist Invokers, all combined together, used the last bit of the World Essence and sacrificed their lives to lay a gigantic, 1028-seal formation magic array to form these barriers, forever saving humanity, but also trapping humanity within these barriers. However, the humans were never completely helpless. No matter how little World Essence was left, the humans still had some remaining. Realizing the incoming crisis, the humans found a way to seal World Essence inside a special type of crystal. Soon, these crystals began to become implanted into weapons, turning them into World Essence Weapons, and they began to display properties of their own. Extreme heat. Bone chilling cold. Absurd sharpness. These normal weapons, after being imbued with the energy of the World Essence Crystals, began to form natural affinities to elements. Fire. Water. Earth. Wind. Darkness. Light. Using these weapons, one could become a Chevalier that wielded the power of the elements. However, if one wanted to reach a higher level of enlightenment and understanding, one could become an Invoker. Via the study of magic array formations, one could directly use the power of the World Essence to cast devastating magics upon the enemy. These people were Invokers, highly valued for their combat potential by the Army. These weapons and magical arrays were used in the great fight between the humans and the beasts long ago. They had long since been put away in storage, almost long forgotten...However, after ten-thousand years of suppression, the human race is beginning its counterattack against the Beasts... Synth was an Invoker in the Magecroft Academy. However, his talent was terrible, being only at the Spark Stage. This led to him being looked down upon and bullied. He was unable to cast any Calamity-rank or even Destruction rank spells, and was only able to cast Coalescing rank spells at the age of 17, a record low in the academy for cultivating these rare Invokers. Even though he put in more effort than anyone else, he was still unable to advance his Channeling Energy. But due to his constant research and study, Synth ended up creating a power that would go against the heavens - he had found how to Fuse spells together. After trying it out once, merging the magical array for the Small Fireball and the Mortal Judgement skills, he was able to create a mid-rank Destruction tier spell, Holy Judgement Flame. However, after this, no matter how hard he tried, he was unable to fuse more spells together or even cast them, and noticed a weird, pentagram shaped formation on his left arm. He would later call this mark the Fusion Magic Hex, a curse that prevented the wielder from casting magic that wasn't their own...This meant that with the exception of Synth's newly created skill, , he was going to have to create unique magic arrays if he ever wanted to step on the path of becoming an Invoker! This power that destroyed the laws of the Invoking System, and his unyielding persistence in testing and creating new spells, would later gain Synth the nickname the Unique Fusion Hex, and lead him to become one of the strongest beings in the entire World!
