《Scarlet Taste (Vampire! Yandere x Emotionless! Reader)》17. A painful end

You helped Cain make... well... nothing. He had nothing in his pantry or in his kitchen. No canned goods, no vegetables or fruit...and if he did have it, it was way over its expiration date. Cain had candy though, lots of candy, and it all was bought recently.
You pick up a strawberry lollipop, hopping up in the kitchen counter.
"This isn't healthy." You murmur, opening it's wrapper anyway. "You should buy healthier food." You say, sticking the pink lollipop in your mouth.
Cain bits his lip.
"Um...why?" Cain ask softly.
"So you can stay strong." You say.
You weren't allowed to eat candy. Your mother told you that all of your teeth would fall out if you ate it so you didn't. You didn't know why you decided to eat it... you knew what it could do. You were just curious.
"Curiosity killed the cat." You heard your mother's voice in you head. When she was alive she would say that all the time. It was so amusing because she didn't know the other half of the story...
"Satisfaction brought it back." You whisper.
Your eyes were glazed over as you thought about the taste of the candy. It was so... sweet, but you didn't dislike it. You swung your feet as you thought about the candy's artificial flavor, humming. Cain watched you, slightly confused. What was going on in that head if yours?
He was about to ask you, but he stopped himself.
You looked so beautiful... so vulnerable.
Cain smiled, but slowly that smile changed into a frown as his eyes focus on what you were wearing. He was starting to regret changing you into that outfit. Why'd he even change you into that anyway? He could see your underwear and your thighs. He was a gentleman, he had to control himself, but they way you were looking plus the way that you smelled was driving him mad. He didn't think he'd be so hungry so soon.
Cain was ashamed of himself. You were his friend, it's his duty to keep you safe. Cain's eyes glaze over.
"(Y/n)..." Cain moans softly. He honestly did not mean to do that.
He didn't think he would moan it. Now he really felt shameful. He was disgusting, pathetic... he was acting like an animal. If you weren't right in front of him, he would have slapped himself.
You snap out of your sugar induced trance.
"Did you say something?" You asks, staring at Cain with you innocent eyes.
He was glad you didn't hear him, but the relief that he was feel was short lived. The way you were looking at him was enough to drive him over the rails.
He couldn't take it anymore, but he didn't want to hurt you. He couldn't... if he were to bite you, which he never will, he would want it to be consensual and special. This was clearly not the right way to go about it....
"I–I um... I have to..." Cain gulps. "I have to go."
"But it's daylight..."
"I'll be fine!" Cain snaps. He lost control of he voice for a second. "Bye!"
And just like that, Cain was gone. You heard the front door slam.
You didn't really know what to do, so you decided to wander just like you did back home. You would most likely get lost, but you were sure that Cain would find you when he comes back.

You leave the kitchen. You were going to explore the second floor. That floor seemed to have a lot of twist and turns.
You stood at the top of the stairs. There were two halls. One to your left and one to your right. You were about to go down the right one, but then you heard a noise. You turn toward the left hall and walk down it, thing to find the source of the noise.
All the curtains on the windows were shut, making the hall's look dim. You could navigate through the hall just fine without the sunlight, but it still made you wonder why they were all closed. Cain clearly could go out in the sun, was there really a reason to shut them? You come across a few doors. Most of the doors were locked, except for a bathroom. As you walk further into the dark hall, you notice that the calming air was staring to disappear. You shiver. It was way colder than it was down stairs.
It was extremely dark now. You went to open a window only to see that the window was boarded up. You hear another noise. The sound of something moving against the hard floor. The noise was coming from the farthest and the darkest part of the hall.
Shrugging, you turn around and walk back from whence you came. You shiver.
"I should change later." You yawn, enjoying what's left of your lollipop.
You walk back down stairs and go to sleep in the living room by the still burning chimney. You hoped the house wouldn't burn down.
John sat in his house by himself. His children were at school, he didn't have a job, and his wife was in the hospital. She was definitely going to leave him for sure. He just knew it.
He felt guilty. He just sacrificed a young girl just for a week of freedom. Maybe if he made the deadline, he would have felt a little bit better bout it. He would have been free from the monster forever, but he failed. If only he sacrificed you sooner. What was wrong with him? You're probably dead. He just let some die. He shouldn't have been so selfish, he should have been...
'But no one will miss her.' He thought. 'And her mother is out of the picture so I don't have to worry about her. Everything will work out fine. No one will know.'
Knock knock
Someone was knocking on the door. John hesitates. He wondered if it was the police... what would he do?
"John? John I know you are in there." A familiar voice could be hear outside the door. "You didn't get a job without telling you buddy did you?"
John finally goes to answer it, smiling when he sees who it is.
"Oh? How are you doing today Thomas?" John says.
Thomas was a good friend. He would always listened to John's crazy ramblings and John really appreciated it. It was nice to know that there was someone out there who didn't think he was crazy. That's why John didn't mind that Thomas was wearing thick leather gloves, a medical mask, and a hat during a hot summers day. Thomas liked to show off his looks so this was a weird occurrence, but John couldn't judge. He was weird too.

"Hello John. Um... may I come in?" Thomas asks, pulling his medical mask Dow and smiling back.
"Of course." John steps out of the way, letting Thomas walk past him.
Thomas walk into the kitchen and John follows. He pulls out a chocolate flavored cigar, lighting it with a gold plated lighter.
"It's good to see you." John says. "What's with the getup? Are you sick?"
"Somewhat. Didn't want to spread it." Thomas says, chuckling. "Could you open a window for me buddy. I don't want the smell to linger."
John didn't mind when Thomas smoked. The smoke always smelled nice so it wasn't really an issue to him, but his wife and his step son Aiden hate the smell of smoke. They couldn't handle smells like that.
"That's very considerate of you. My step son probably wouldn't wanna come home to the smell of chocolate smoke." John laughs. "Wanna beer?" John asks.
Thomas hums, nodding. John opens his refrigerator, leaning over to get a four pack of beer from the bottom shelf of the fridge.
For a moment, everything was at peace. There was not a thing in the world that could ruin this moment and the happiness that John felt. He felt truly free, truly relaxed.
Thomas pulls out the small taser that he had stashed in his back pocket, it was ready for use.
"Sorry about your wife. Is she doing okay?" Thomas says, feigning worry.
"Yah, but she could be better. Ya know?" John smiles sheepishly glancing at Thomas. He didn't notice the small taser.
Thomas was such a good friend.
"Mmmhm." Thomas's eyes become dull. He pulls up his medical mask, the taser in his left hand.
"Here you go old friend." John turns around, two beers in hand.
He really needed this talk. He needed a friend, he was glad that Thomas was so caring. The friendly smile on John's face is immediately replaced with a look of pain. Thomas had tasered John. The beers fell to the ground with a loud crash.
The betrayal that John felt, the betrayal that both of them felt, was immense. Both of them had lost a friend. Thomas enjoyed John's company, but John wasn't a true friend. True friends don't steal each other's things.
He trusted John.
He hates John.
"T—Thoma—"
"Don't fucking say it." Thomas snarls. "I don't want you to say my name. I want you to tell me what you did with my company?"
John has never seen Thomas make such a scary face. Thomas is only seen with a smile on his face, but now he looked like a monster... just like the one that took you.
"I was just going to talk to you, but your smile really pissed me off. How can you be happy when my daughter is missing?" Thomas kicks John. "How can you be happy when my little girl is probably a rotting corpse somewhere because you couldn't keep your hands off her." Thomas furrows his brows. In a soft and sad tone, Thomas says. "Tell me where's she's gone."
"I... I don't—"
"Yes you do. I know you do." Thomas says sweetly, almost like he was begging. The venom in his voice disappears completely as he tried to charm John into telling him all he knows. He said it like he was encouraging a dog, like he was telling John that he was a good boy. "Speak John and maybe I'll give you a treat."
"The monster took her." John admitted, tears sliding down his face.
Thomas grimaces in disgust at the sight of John's tears and then he chuckles. It was a quiet chuckle and then slowly, it transformed into a sinister laugh.
"A monster? You fucking idiot!" Thomas stomps on John's back.
Crack
"Who do you think I am?!" Thomas screams. He stomps again.
Crack.
"I'll kill you John! I'll fucking kill you!! I'll kill you!" Thomas laughs and he stomps again.
He kicks, he stomps and all could be heard was John's spine shattering. John was paralyzed and John was going to die.
He was going to die.
"Useless. I'm leaving John. Bleed out here... I don't care what you do, but I want you to remember when you are burning down in hell that you got what you deserved." Thomas crouches down to John's level. "You aren't a good friend John. You are not a good friend, a good father, or a good husband. You are trash."
John drifted in and out of consciousness. What felt like second to him was hours. The insane laughter of his good friend had faded minutes ago, but it didn't feel like that. It felt like it just happened. It didn't feel like half an hour. His wounds still hurt just like it did when Thomas was inflicting them. Seconds later... or was it hours later, John felt his body get lifted off the ground.
'Thank god.' John though. 'Help.'
But John was horribly wrong. He was face to face with a red eyed monster. Glowing red eyes and sharp dangerous teeth.
"It seems that this is my last meal with you John, I'll be sure to put your blood to good use." The monster says, but john only heard bits of the sentence.
John had lost all hope. He couldn't move, he didn't have enough energy to scream. He was going to die. Even if the monster hadn't found him, he would have died. John would have died from internal bleed if it wasn't for the red eyed monster looking at him.
"Perhaps I can save some of you for later."
Cain was glad that things played out like this. He wasn't worried about whoever tried to kill John, he was actually thankful. John's blood was salty, but he was sure he could use it for something. Of course, even though he had his meal right in front of him, he was still thinking about you. He wouldn't be able to come home for a while.
Your scent would drive him crazy even if he was full. He was sure that if he did bite you, it wouldn't be a gentle bit at all. Then again, if one was to do it the right way, vampire bites can be quite pleasurable.
The thought of you making cute noises while he drinks you blood made him feel giddy.
He definitely couldn't go back home now.

Apollyon's Curse
Within the pages of folklore and fantasy, tales of people who chase after the dream of eternity, of living forever, rarely find a happy ending. They are either struck by the grim truth of reality, give up, and return to mortality or face a ghastly realization of their wishes. The latter often the worse fate, as they come to realize, only far too late, that what they sacrificed was worth far more than the time they gained. Ultimately, the common thread in these stories is that “immortality is as much a curse as it is a blessing”. People either realize it early and give up or are doomed to inevitably face its consequences. In the world Enrich lives in, that saying does hold merit. Every pathway towards eternal life has shackles of its own. They bring those high above down to the ground, evening the playing field. It is thanks to these fundamental laws that ambitious mortals are able to defy the heavens and achieve immortality themselves. The variety of methods result in each of these bindings varying in intensity and degree of freedom. Enrich’s path doesn't break this trend. Though, after what he did to himself, most wouldn’t even consider him a living thing anymore. On the day of his ascension, a world’s worth of souls were melted and recast. On that day, the human’s path had reached its conclusion, recast into Apollyon. An artifact, a weapon, is eternal, after all. As for the curse? The payment will be made, as it must. So why not offload the curse to someone else? Mortals throw their lives away for all manner of petty reasons, noble or otherwise, especially in desperation. Eventually, someone will be willing to foot the bill. Most will if given the chance. The bait is far too tempting, after all. Power, status, knowledge. All at their fingertips. If only they say “yes”. And Apollyon is very willing to help any lost souls. If they give up everything in return, of course.
