《The CEO. (W|W)》7.

"Good morning." I chirped to Amelia as I walked into her office and handed her a cup of coffee. She looked at the cup for a second before shooting me a look.

"Seriously?" She scoffed. I rolled my eyes and placed it on her desk before sliding it over.

"French vanilla decaf. No nuts."

"Yeah we don't like nuts on this side." She snorted to herself, before blushing. I was taken aback, my mouth slightly parted as I grinned at her wittiness. Her cheeks turned a deep red color and she rolled her eyes before looking toward the window.

"If you think we're friends, you're wrong."

"I never said we were."

"As if you didn't want to be."

"Okay bestie." I smirked. She scoffed and rolled her eyes, before looking at the cup and gasping quietly. I decided to try something a little different today, writing her name in cursive with a heart at the end on her coffee cup.

"Enjoy. I also have muffins.." I sang as I shook the brown bag in front of her face causing her eyes to widen. I noticed she was a junk food lover and it repulsed me on the first day, watching her scarf down an entire box of only

Pink starburst.

But the last few days, I was no longer disgusted by it. Instead I adored it, watching her devour a bag of takis during our lunch break. She didn't know I saw her, but I did.

And it was the cutest thing ever. Except when she licked her fingers. That was gross.

"Chocolate chip?" She asked quietly. I nodded and she smiled, tapping her fingers together as she stared at the bag.

"Oh? You want one? I thought you weren't my friend." I fake pouted causing her to roll her eyes.

"Keep your muffins. I can buy a million."

I scoffed at her ego and shrugged before turning around and walking toward the door.

"Alright fine fine, give me the fucking muffin. Jesus Christ. I'll come to your party and be your...whatever. Just give me the damn muffin."

"That's what I thought." I grinned as I walked over and handed her the bag. She rolled her eyes and looked into it, smiling widely as she took the muffin from the bag and handed it back to me.

"Thanks." She breathed. I nodded before walking toward the door, but stopped in my tracks as I heard a soft, breathy whimper come from behind me. It made my stomach tighten with arousal.

Is that how she sounds?

"It's good, huh?" I asked breathily as I turned around. She looked up at me and nodded as she took another bite and I swallowed hard before walking swiftly to my desk.

What a tease.

"I see you and Amelia getting real close and personal." José grinned as he cut into his salmon. We were on lunch at this Italian restaurant a few blocks away from the office. He asked me to join him and I couldn't resist.

I love pasta.

"Yeah, right." I scoffed as I pushed my penne a la vodka around my plate. I was trying to stay on her good side, but part of me always wants to stay on her good side. I might be devastated if it becomes the opposite.

I'll buy her every single piece of candy in the world if I had to at this point.

"I mean..you're not fired. She still accepts coffee from you and let you sit in one of her meetings. She never let any of her assistants do that before."

"What happened to last assistant that was here?" I asked as I bit into my pasta. He sighed and shook his head with a sad smile on his face.

"Amelia has always been a bitch. But she's even bitchier than she used to be-"

"What?! You mean to tell me this is not the worst of it?! Sheesh." I scoffed causing him to laugh.

"Shut up. Anyway, her last assistant she had a pretty good relationship with. The girl was quiet, kept her head down always did what she was told. But one day..Amelia's accountant called and said that money kept going missing from her account.."

"No.." I gasped as I stared at him with wide eyes. He nodded, eating his spaghetti before he continued to talk.

"Yeah. She was wiring money from Amelia's account to hers. It was a shit show. I've never seen Amelia so...devastated. That woman was kind of like the only friend she had. It got pretty bad, Amelia throwing her red bottoms at the woman's head in front of EVERYONE in the office. It was terrible."

"Wow. No wonder she's such a bitch to me."

"She's always been a bitch. She's just bitchier now. She's very closed off. Any little thing will cause her to retract herself completely from people. It's why I just steer clear. I rather keep it professional than get personal."

"I invited her to my birthday party."

José's utensils slammed so hard against the plate as he dropped them that people looked over. He stared at me with his jaw dropped and I chuckled before nodding.

"And she said yes."

He gasped louder before covering his mouth and tapping his feet on the ground before grabbing my hands.

"She never goes out. Let alone with co workers. You're special. You've gotta be something special to her. There's no way she said yes. Did she text you? How did you ask?"

"Does she have friends?"

"We're the closest to friends and family she has."

That caused my heart to sink into the pit of my stomach. I couldn't imagine being so alone like that. No wonder she's a stickler.

"Give me one second." I breathed before standing up. I walked over to the counter and waived the cashier over and smiled.

"Let me get a lemon pepper salmon and pesto spaghetti to go. Oh, and a double truffle chocolate cake."
