Under the guidance of the officials, all of the enrollees in the square, were walking towards, the main hall inside the building.
When the students went into the great hall, Inside the building, the students were intrigued, since we can feel a very thick mana from the main hall, not much like outside, where we can somewhat feel it, but not too much.
The great hall of the examination building has a floor paved with marble, and hanging above was a massive crystal chandelier. It could easily fit thousand of people, yet, still feel spacious, but they only let 500 students to enter, to refrain any disturbances.
At the very front of the great hall, there were lines of chairs. Directly in the middle of the great hall was the testing location. There are more than 10 circular platforms in the middle, that only one person can fill in.
The white robed church official smile and said in a clear voice.
White robed: The testing location is right in front of you. All enrollees, please come one at a time. All enrollees, please get in line.
First.
The bald old man pointed at the center and told the youngster to sit along the top of the circular platform.
Bald old man: I will teach and help you how to meditate.
After a while.
All the enrollees noticed, that the youngster keeps absorbing the mana in the environment, even if we can't see it, we can sense it. A minute has passed, the youngster woke up and get up to his feet. The youngster's body is surrounded by a dense layer of mana.
Then the bald man pointed the crystal ball besides the circular platform and said.
Bald old man: Place your hand atop the crystal ball. We will test your elemental essence affinities.

The first testee was a fourteen or fifteen year old young man. That young man nervously placed his right hand atop the crystal ball.
Immediately, the entire crystal ball began to emanate a hazy, light red glow.
The bald elder wrote something on the paper and emotionlessly said.
Bald old man: Age, 14 years old. Elemental essence affinities – Fire, average affinity. No other element affinities except fire.
Fail!
When the bald man told the young man that he fails the examination.
It's like a thunderous sound to his ears, that he doesn't want to listen, this made his brain stop for a moment.
After a point of time, the young child finally drop down to his knees and cried.
The judgement of the bald elder had just determined the fate of every enrollee.
Then the bald man continue the test.
After a while, as the time went on, we all can feel the mood, suddenly turns gloomy.
After 3 hours had elapsed.
Ned: Khald it's your turn now go.
Khald: Yes!
Khald seems so scared, his confidence vanished in a think air a while ago, since many enrollees who were devastated, because of a low passing rate.
We already determined, who can passed the exam, since there is only few who passed the exam, and most of the enrollees failed.
You must at least above average to pass.
When khald put his pudgy hand, while trembling atop of the crystal ball.
The ball emanates a stronger light.
The bald elder nodded in a satisfied manner. A trace of a smile on his face, he said.
Bald old man: Elemental essence above average. The qualifications for becoming a magician have been met. You can become a magician.
We yelled at the same time.
Nyka and Ned: Wow! Khald.
Ned: You really had a gift to become a magician.

Nyka: Right! Right!
He walks in a grand way towards us while talking.
Khald: See! What did I say earlier, I easily turn over this exam with a flying colors.
Ned: Really? How come you were trembling awhile ago?
Nyka: Yep!
We made fun of him again.
Quiet!” The bald elder snapped in a cold, unhappy voice.
Then the three of us shut our mouth.
Next!
Khald and Ned: It's your turn Nyka.
When Nyka walk forward, she has gained a little confidence since khald has passed the test.
After a while, she put her hand atop of the crystal ball.
It emanates a little stronger light, but not much like khald.
We are hoping for a miracle will happen.
When the bald man observed the magic crystal, he felt a bit shocked and smile, and talk the young lady in front of him.
Bald old man: You are a lucky girl, just barely passed to become a magician. Elemental essence affinities – slightly above average affinity.
When Nyka heard what the examiner told him, she can't contain her happiness that she keep on jumping and shouting.
Nyka: Yes! I passed. Yes! I passed. Yes!
Then the bald old man glared her to shut her mouth, then she became flustered and embarrassed, while walking towards us.
Khald and Ned: Congrats Nyka!
Nyka: Thanks Ned and Khald.
After that, Our mood suddenly lifted up and we're so happy that we can't stop smiling, but we didn't talk so loud, since the examiner is very strict.
After a while, we can feel the gazes towards us.
Many envious eyes were cast towards khald and nyka.
When Ned's turn came, most of the enrollees observe him, since, two of his friends passed the exam. That they predicted that he also will pass.
“Next.” The bald elder said again.
Khald and Nyka: Good luck Ned!
Ned nods at Nyka and Khald.
Ned calmly walked into the center, Then sit on the upper side of the circular platform.
After a while. Ned placed his right hand on the crystal ball. And so there was a sudden burst light coming from the crystal.
Afterward, the bald old man examine the crystal ball and look at Ned eyes.
He talks with a clear voice.
You fail the exam!
Nyka and Khald: WHAT?
They shouted at the same time.

Shift (Ben 10+DCU Fanfiction)
Omnitrix+ DCU, what's not to like? The main character will not be Ben Tennyson, rather someone from our world who gains the Omnitrix Hello! This fanfiction Shift is what I wanted to do for an homage to what I thought were underrated pieces of media, Ben 10 and some DCU characters. However, I would be remiss if I didn’t add context to two of the major works that inspired Shift, Dial, and A Practical Guide to Evil. Dial is another ben 10 fanfiction, however that story takes place in the MCU, and with an adult that is already a grown-up at the beginning of the story. Dial, by my own accounts, is more superficially Like shift, even though the Omnitrix is a central device in both. My protagonist starts out around 18 years old, so is less serious and can build relationships with some of the junior justice league members, and then later on in the story meet the Justice League officially. The tone will be more light-hearted at the beginning of the story as teenagers are known to use sarcasm and jokes at each other’s expense. Furthermore, in Dial, the protagonist has a well-developed knowledge of the MCU which he uses to have knowledge on events and characters, that the character in Shift will not have. While the MC will have some knowledge of people's abilities, lesser-known characters and people's real identities will be not included as much, but the MC of Shift will have some knowledge. APGTE's influence is deeper than Dials'. The epigraphs at the beginning of every chapter are an example of that, a place for light-hearted jokes and worldbuilding that's not pure exposition, but I also want to incorporate narrative stories to Shift (heroes win more than lose, providence, etc) on a lighthearted scale. While the heroes of Shift will have to work to win against villains, the MC of Shift will be allowed limited precognition, through narratives tropes and archetypes as a trade-off of less knowledge of the DCU. For example, a villain a hero faces might monologue, but the MC will not instinctively know how to counter every villain they encounter. I also wanted to bring in more realism than usual superhero stories, ie: the MC cannot just walk and have a meeting with Batman or Superman, he would have to “work his way up” in terms of credibility and whatnot. The Aliens that show up in Shift I tried to make different than the ones in Dial, just to share the love for lesser-known characters. And to make it fairer for the villains of the DCU, the main character will not wantonly use if gain at all an Alien X or a ben 10 form of Kryptonians, just so the characters have to work a little bit for victory. I urge anyone reading to consider checking out both APGTE and Dial as they are both amazing works, and I hope you enjoy them. The beginning of how the MC enters the DCU will not be as important as him actually existing in that universe, so that is why a ton of time is not spent on that part of the story. Chapters will be around 2.5 thousand words and come out around every weekday.
