《Golden Glow: Curses from this High One》Chapter 7

Getting to the adventurer guild did not take nearly as long as she had thought it would have. It stood in contrast to all of the other buildings surrounding it with it being just over 3 stories high. The foundation of the building was made of stone and the first floor looked to be made of bricks ,everything above the first floor was made of wood. There were no windows on the first floor which gave it a sturdy feeling and the large door situated at the center of the wall was the only way to see inside. The second floor stood in contrast with a dozen or so windows on the front side of the building ,and the third floor had a singular window that was circular in shape.
Nemesis walked in and was gently surprised by the lack of people. There was no boisterous adventurer NPC's sharing ale and there were only a handful of players sitting in line to become adventurers. Even that line quickly disappeared as they were teleported to what Nemesis assumed was the area to fight other players. Opposite to the entrance was a small bar with a single male NPC behind the counter wiping down glasses. To the right of her was a single booth with a receptionist inside that had just finished dealing with the other players. To Nemesis's left was a the wall of the building that was covered with a singular large board that went from one wall to the other. Nemesis approached the receptionist with a royal gait.
"I would be pleased if you would let me sign up to be an adventurer. If not, then you should being look for another job."
The receptionist simply smiled as Nemesis spoke to her. Not a moment later a quest popped up in front of her with what she was looking for.
Quest - Becoming an Adventurer
Alright, I can see that I will have to teach you how to be Adventurers! - Liminal, Guild Trainer
Objective:Defeat another player in one verses one combat
Reward: Adventurer's License
Accept / Deny
Nemesis clicked Accept and was teleported away immediately. She found herself in a rectangular arena that would be empty if it was not for her and another player at the other end of the field. There were no walls in the arena ,just a drop into an void. Speaking of voids, the entre sky box was pure white so seeing the edges of the arena was a breeze. Nemesis turned her attention to the other player who wore heavy robes, carried a staff, and had a large hat obscuring their face.

"They are probably a magician or wizard or some kind." Nemesis thought.
Match Timer Begin in: 5
Nemesis aimed her hands at the opposing wizard, preparing to hit them with a (Lesser) Weaken I. The Spell selector came into existence and the tips of her fingers with the usual golden sheen.
Match Timer Begin in: 4
Nemesis took a deep breath to calm her nerves and be gain to thing of an opening phrase.
Match Timer Begin in: 3
"Perhaps something like, 'Those robes seem heavy for your frail body, perhaps you should lay down and die!' ?" She pondered.
Match Timer Begin in: 2
Her fingers wiggled slightly in anticipation of the fight. Nemesis was ready at a moments notice to move in any direction.
Match Timer Begin in: 1
She took another deep breath and hovered her finger over the only spell in her arsenal. "This may have not been the best of plans..." Guy relented.
Fight! Defeat you oppenet to win!
Nemesis immediately cast (Lesser) Weaken I in the vain attempt that it would throw off the other mage, even if only for a moment. The opposing mage just stood there with their staff out in front of them.
Cast (Lesser) Weaken I on Mage Lv4! Mage Lv4 has -4Hp for 13 seconds!
Nemesis cringed slightly when she saw that the opposing mage was level four. She did not think that she would be put up against someone twice her level but fate had proved her other wise. Nemesis lectured herself for a moment before she went into a full on dash toward her opponent. For some reason they didn't even cast a spell yet which made her think that they were throwing the match. The arena was deceptively big as it took Nemesis a full seven seconds of running just to cross over near the Lv4 Mage. When Nemesis was finally in fighting range she threw a mighty right hook to knock her opponent off balance but the mage simply took two steps back. In return Nemesis took three steps forward and made for an upper cut but right as she took her third step a fireball appeared above her enemy and flung itself towards her. Luckily she jumped out of the way right on time and avoided the fireball hitting her head-on. Of course, this did not change her fate as the fireball exploded and set her right off of the arena and into the void below.

Nemesis's vison faded to black as the notification stated her death glowed mockingly in front of her. She took a deep breath and click the respawn button. Once again her surroundings went from the blackness of death to the walls just outside of the town. She had gotten unluckily in the quest matchup. It was seriously screwed up that she had to fight someone double her level. The glaring flaw of being able to cast only one spell helped to show her that she still needed to be a few more levels higher before facing that quest. That is to say, she needed Experience to earn more experience
Nemesis took another deep breath and pulled up her status page.

Nemesis let her breath slowly come out as she plotted her next destination. The Adventures guild was out of the question, it was obvious that she needed to level up a few times just to attempt getting an license. Partying up with other players was probably impossible as her class was not a desirable in a party member. That left two options on the table, she could go back to the dungeon and try to solo the first level multiple times or... Nemesis turned her back to the town gate. About two hundred feet away from the town walls was the tree line with only a single opening that followed a packed dirt road into said forest. It was not like she had any experience to lose so she walked down the dirt pathway into the forest.
A little after the entrance the trees became sparser and had enough room to let her into the seemingly innocent forest. Almost immediately after entering the forest she found a round, gelatinous blob that pulled itself across the ground like a slug. The blob was obviously a slime ,and the slime(that was a blob) was a drab green. Despite what normal media portrayed about slime and their slightly clear bodies this slime was rather opaque with what looked like dirt in its body.
Cast (Lesser) Weaken I on Slime(Earth) Lv1! Slime(Earth) Lv1 has -4Hp for 13 seconds!
The slime slowly made its way over to her with the viscous speed of a dead body. Nemesis walked over to it refusing to wait for it to come to her. She stopped next to it and dug her left foot into the ground and brought her right foot back. She then proceeded to kick the slime with all of her 2(+4) Power.
You kicked Slime(Earth) Lv1! Slime(Earth) Lv1 lost 1Hp!
Nemesis pulled her foot away for another kick but the slime wouldn't let go. It moved at its normal speed, slowly crawling from her foot to her calf. Nemesis quickly walked over to a nearby tree and kick the vegetation. This in turn smashed the slime between the tree and her leg.
You kicked Slime(Earth) Lv1! Slime(Earth) Lv1 lost 1Hp! You damaged yourself! -2Hp
It had hurt a bit kicking the tree but not as much as kicking one in real life would. Nemesis kicked the tree again, this time the slime stuck to both the tree and her.
You kicked Slime(Earth) Lv1! Slime(Earth) Lv1 lost 1Hp! You damaged yourself! -2Hp You have killed Slime(Earth) Lv1! + 20xp You have killed Slime(Earth) Lv1! + 2xp
Nemesis took a deep breath.
'That was relatively easy. I just need to wait till I regen my Hp and find 4 more level 1 slimes.' She thought.
Some bushes rustled and a slime slowly pulled itself out of its cover. Nemesis turned to face her new bag of experience. Just as she started approaching it seven goblins rushed out of the bushes and stabbed to slime to death. With a lighting quick assessment Nemesis cast (Lesser) Weaken I on all the Goblins she could and bolted for the safety of the road.
Cast (Lesser) Weaken I on Goblin Lv12! Goblin Lv12 has -4Hp for 13 seconds! Cast (Lesser) Weaken I on Goblin Lv10! Goblin Lv10 has -4Hp for 13 seconds! Cast (Lesser) Weaken I on Goblin Lv15! Goblin Lv15 has -4Hp for 13 seconds! Cast (Lesser) Weaken I on Goblin Lv12! Goblin Lv12 has -4Hp for 13 seconds! Cast (Lesser) Weaken I on Goblin Lv17! Goblin Lv17 has -4Hp for 13 seconds! Cast (Lesser) Weaken I on Goblin Lv11! Goblin Lv11 has -4Hp for 13 seconds!
'Shit...'

Polyrhythm Time -- A Bard's Tail
Have you ever met someone who loves what they do so much that they'll skip sleep, food, love and safety to pursue it? What happens if that kind of person encounters a different dimension, yet holds on to their love of music, and specifically of rock drumming. When the world ended at the end of 2057, Kevin Snackenbridge slept through it. He'd been drumming all night. tl;dr-- System eats world -- Monsters and magic ---- LitRpg -- Practice, not levels and stats ---- MC Bard -- support class -- low power ---- MC chooses music over survival skills --tl;dr Kevin trips into the Internal Strength Dimension where Thaumaturgy is king. With the help of a talking plant and several vicious monkeys he learns that the rule is "Change or die." Kevin changes, but remains firmly a drummer/Bard in this high fantasy setting. This is Kevin's adventure, and that of the friends he meets. Kevin has the soul of a real musician. He loves music, specifically rhythm and drumming, and would give his left nut if it would help him drum better. He's a rock drummer, and his language is that of a rock drummer: slanged, duded, and frequently laced with profanity. He focuses on music, and makes decisions that even the author doesn't approve of. However, that means all his decisions are Kevin's decisions, not those of a system-optimizing power-gamer. There's points (All of Arc 2) where he wanders aimlessly. Goals seem foreign to him at points. What would you do if you were a musician, and the world fell apart and you no longer had an audience or band-mates. You'd be kinda lost. Kevin is. Arc 2 is a lot of Kevin not knowing what to do, going with the flow, and not being articulate enough to know that he doesn't know what to do. 1.
