《Golden Glow: Curses from this High One》Chapter 4

Cast, dodge, and repeat. This was the rhythm that Nemesis had gotten into as the party continuously slayed rats. Luckas was a few metres to her left, he was cleaving and splicing bats and rats all around him as Darwin let out a constant bombardment of fireballs. Maline had gone ahead of them and was throwing a flurry of punches, kicks, and head butts at the mobs around her.
Nemesis was not so lucky. She had a build which should not see any front line work and was now paying the consequences. More than once had she run out of mana or stamina and had nearly been killed. If it was not for Luckas slicing his way over to her and clearing out the mobs she would have had to start over dozens of times already.
At the moment there were only three rats left which were quickly taken care of. Nemesis was on the floor and panting. Their parties' complete lack of teamwork had left her menally, and physically drained. While she was sniffing the ground a system message popped up.
Killed Rat(x4) +80xp Killed Rat(x4) +8xp Level up!
Nemesis immediately perked up. A rush of adrenaline flowed through her veins as she pulled up her status card.

Nemesis bit her lips. She had 10 status points to assign anywhere. If she wanted to stay true to what she chose when making the character then she would put it into knowledge, Wisdom, and a bit into the Create. Then again, the ongoing experience in the dungeon had shown her just how far the build would go when nobody was protecting her.

Then again, agan if it was possible to acquire NPC and customize their build she only have to deal with dumb player inside of top teir activitys. That was a long term solution but for the short term she could just join other parties.
Maline approached Nemesis with a smug simple on her face.
“I leveled up once, noob.”
‘I can not believe that someone could say that seriously... Maybe she has some sort of mental disability? If that is the case then I will have to treat her nicely. Don't wanna get arrested, lol...’ Guy took a deep breath
“Good for you.” Nemesis said flatly. 'deep breaths, deep breaths...' Guy forced himself to take a deep breath before he flew into a rage and beat her up.
Guy looked back at Maline to compliment her on leveling up once. Yet when he looked at her annoying face he had to take another deep breath and looked away. Nemesis’s cheeks puffed up with air and she brought her hands together. She rested her pointer fingers on her lips while blowing out air slowly. The whole act had made her look like a cutely, angry chipmunk.
His stress had been growing ever since he realized that the extras his friend had brought were horribly inept at playing in a group. It was bearable at first because Luckas constantly kept the two of them going. If it was just him and Luckas they could do anything ,but with the two dodos dragging them down it would be impossible to even do anything considered power leveling. Once Guy breathed out enough stress to make sure he did not attack his party members, He gave Luckas the 'Look'. After years of friendship between them they had master the technecue of giving directions to each other with just a look. The specific look he gave Luckas was one born out of necessity. Many times in their early, early youth Guy would fly into a rage at the slightest agitation and proceed to beat the living crap out of anyone nearby. Young, old, rich, or poor none were safe from his outbursts. It was a real problem that eventually led Guy and Luke(Luckas IrL name) to be separated.

Luckas stepped between Guy and Maline. As he explained that Maline should keep from antagonizing Nemesis, Guy kept up his calming breathing exercises to relieve a bit more stress. Maline continued to brag and boast about how amazing she was. Feeling that he was nearing his breaking point Guy stood up and approached Luckas.
“I hope that Business deal works out for you, Luckas.” Before Luckas was able to even open his mouth Guy logged out of the game.
~~~~~~
Guy woke up to the low hum of the Virtual Reality Pod. The Virtual Reality Pod took up half of his room and the fridge laying on his floor took up the other half all the way over to the door. The pod was not that big on its own; it was just that his room was more like a janitor's closet than a place for living. His sink was halfway up the wall due to some kind of mismeasurement on the building company. His house was crap, not his fault in any way.
He looked down at his lap and stared at the stump of his left hand. He lost it in an accident when he and Luke were still hanging out. He had gotten into a fight with a college student. They were at the train station, Guy had no time to react when the train tore his arm off. The court had judged that it was an act of defense and the students family had to pay for sowing his arm closed. Lesson learned, it sucks to get screwed by corrupt judges. What he did after was as satisfying as it was stupid. The student had to get 56 stitches between his arm, legs, and head.
That caused a series of events that got him kicked out of the orphanage, and middle school. Then when police heard that there was a rogue child living on his own they tried to catch him. While other kids were learning what negative numbers ,multiplication ,and fractions were he was learning real life skills like: running from the police, manipulating store clerks into giving him stuff ,and the use of hard work.
Guy laid back down, a bitter taste filled his mouth just remembering the events. He turned on the pod and began to scroll through forums on the game, he was not sure what the name was, Fantastica (Insert # here) ,or something. After getting past all the bot posts he finally got to a post talking about classes and builds.
