《Golden Glow: Curses from this High One》Chapter 2

He materialized into the beginner town and inspected his character. The robes were brown and covered his player model from head to toe, only revealing his chin, hands, and the toes of his boots. The players' hands were in what seemed to be burnt leather gauntlets. The boots went up to half of his calf and seemed to be high heels near the bottom. After inspecting himself the player began to familiarize himself with the interface on his way to the meetup with the others.
He spotted what he assumed to be his friend. PoomSlayer had made a character that looked heroic, stoic, and muscular, his character was also very charming. Beside him was a mountain of a woman. Guy assumed this to be JstMaline, her character was probably a tank by the looks of her equipment. He continued approaching them until they took notice of him. Poom was the first to open his mouth and talk.
“Guy?” Poom reached out his hand and asked. The player responded with a silent nod and took Poom's hand. After staring awkwardly for a few seconds, JstMarine walked around him before she turned to Poom.
“I thought you said your plus one would play support? Why is she playing a…” She turned to him and asked, “...Assassin?”
‘Supports don’t just heal you know!’ The player shouted in his head.
“...Hexigation.” He responded curtly.
“Right, whatever her class is, it’s not a healer. Should we really bring her to Dive with us if she can’t even choose the right class?” Maline said accusingly. Poom moved behind the player and grabbed him by the shoulders.
“Not all supports heal, Right?” Poom defended and looked toward him for support.
‘Yeah, what he said, idiot!’ He complained in his mind.
“...Correct. My class deals with debuffing the enemy. If healing is your concern then it should not be a problem if we manage potions correctly.”
He furrowed his eyebrows. Poom told him that they were playing with some friends of his. He assumed that they had a degree of competence in class build and item management but from the short interaction, he had concluded that either Maline was unskilled at item management or just a noob entirely. Probably the latter seeing how simple her idea is regarding what a support was supposed to do.

After an argument about what counts as a support they all resumed waiting for the last party member. Poom, whose in-game name was Lukas, had his arm resting on Guy's shoulder. Even if Guy didn’t like Poom resting his arm on him Guy would still not tell him to stop. After all, Poom did pay for half of the console and the entire game. What was Guy to say if his friend happened to be a little more touchy-feely than most?
The fourth member showed up and introduced himself as Darwin, a magic caster class. Magic casters were a mid-range class with a larger focus into burst damage. That was just a generalization of the class as a whole.
The whole party casually strolled down the beginner town streets inspecting multiple shops along the way. About three-fourths of the way to the beginner dungeon Darwin stopped and informed the group he had to leave for a bit, Maline followed up with a similar excuse as they both logged out momentarily. Luckas picked Guy up and walked into a nearby alleyway.
‘Why do you have to take us into such a suspicious spot! Are you gonna mug me or something!’ Guy thought. Luckas began talking before he could build up the courage to ask.
“Sorry about that. I know that I said we would play with a couple of roleplayers today but something came up, you know? I had to invite these guys to come along for a business deal, you know! So… please just play along. They are a bit- no they are normies that would have really, really bad ideas about me if they find out you are a guy, you know! So just, sorta act like a girl in front of them ,yeah?” Luckas begged Guy with large puppy eyes and a big frown.
‘What?! The hell I will! Do you think of me so lowly! You asshole I bet you are just going to record this for black mail arn’t you! I will NOT act like a girl just because you beg me! What am I, Mother teresa? F you dude, you should lose this business deal! Why are you friends with normies! Idiot!’ He wanted to say that but what really came out was a soft “yes.”.

Lukas let out a smile on his face. He began to walk away before turning back around and approached Guy again.
“Can you still Oracle?” Luckas suddenly asked.
‘What?’ He thought out loud.“What?”
“Can. You. Oracle.” Lukas said slowly in a condescending tone.” I just want to know if the deal is going to work in my favor, Pleaseeee? Please, pretty please? I said it three times already you know? PleasePleasePleasePleasePlease-”
“FINE! Just … shut up.” Guy put his hand up to his forehead and began to hum a tune.
“...Ms. Heart walked down street 4…. Clown of the 20’s while rain poured…. Whore at the club ate a cord… Ok! I remember the order now.” Guy began to rub his hands together. “ Pick a number, 1 through 52.”
Luckas stood there for a moment thinking of his answer.
“Quick! Come on! Before I forget!” Guy grabbed Luckas by his neck with both hands and began shaking him.
“T-twelve!” Luckas cried out and Guy let him fall to the ground.
“Twelve, twelve. That was….” He walked in circles for a bit then snapped his fingers. ”Jack of clubs. Your business partners will be very loyal to you ,but you will also lose something in return.”
Luckas fought back a smile and skeptically raised an eyebrow. “Lose something? Wait don't tell me… am I going to lose an arm?”
“Shut up and help me get into character.” Guy said, shooting down Luckas’s remark.
Both grown men stood in the alleyway for a bit. One was just standing there taking deep breaths while the other watched. Guy flipped the hood of his character down and took another deep breath. Dramatically, she brought the back of her hand to her forehead.
“Oh, Sir Knight!” She let out sorrowfully. ”We mustn't be together! Father simply would not allow it!” A tear rolled down her cheek.
“A Princess and her Knight in love? They would sooner announce me a witch than let us make holy marriage!.” Her handsome knight had pulled her into his comforting arms.
“But must we keep it secret?” He replied. “Even if we cannot become one under your Fathers blessing then shall we run? To where my love? He holds more land than my eyes could see!”
“No, that is not right,” Guy blew out his breath and released himself from Luckas’s arms.
‘My goddess shouldn’t be some lovey-dovey princess...She should be more like, more like-’
“Saciline Garcia.” Luckas said randomly. ”I think she would fit.”
Guy nodded. ’Saciline Garcia. Part-time model, full-time self-appointed Queen. She had a personality that allowed her to not only be the head of the girls gossiping network but also had the work ethic, looks, and smarts to be class president for the entire time I was at middle school….. Her personality would do fine as a basis with a few modifications to it.’
Guy took another deep breath and closed his eyes. She puffed her chest with confidence and pointed her hand at the knight.
“Bow Sir Knight, You stand before perfection!” The white knight took a knee and looked toward the ground.
“Hmph, You may have the honor to give your name to one such as I!” The lady announced haughtily while looking down at the Kight.
“This one is called Luckas Veralis, your Graceful.”
“Luckas Veralis, By my command, you shall serve me. As such you shall call my name by Lady Nemesis or Mistress Nemesis.” She placed her hand in front of the knight's face. “Pledge your loyalty for the upcoming quest!”
Luckas delicately held her hand like it was his newborn and kissed it. The player smileed.
‘This is going to be so much fun.’ He thought as Lady Nemesis and Sir Luckas left the ally to rejoin the two others.

Agenda of the Villainess

Now, Alicia must find a way to escape the fatal punishment that is the destiny of a villainous noble girl. In doing so, she might even alter the fate of the whole world. This novel is a steampunk take on the otome villainess genre, heavily inspired by the late Victorian era of England and with a system of magic based around floweral circuitry. Toothpick
“Hello! My humble audience! I, the Bard of the North, am going to tell you a tale. Nothing new, nothing old. A story of a hero, some may say, others a poor boy who was hated by the world.” The storyteller paused as he waited, right timing was everything when telling a story. Pacing… Too slow and the audience became bored then left without tossing even the smallest of coins. If he spoke too fast and rushed the story. It would leave the audience confused and having no reason to be impressed. So like any good storyteller, the Bard has to do a balancing act of sorts. Not too slow, not too fast. Just perfectly in the middle. “In a shattered country in the south, a novice princeling has the ambition to mend a torn tapestry that is his birthplace. Struggling to fend off those who would usurp the throne in an unending civil war spanning centuries. A mercenary that left only death in his wake, unable to stave off the monotony and peace of life. He looks back at the path laden with bodies, wondering if it was all worth it. Wandering souls summoned by a madman, travel away from a wasteland in a foreign land, the first alone, the others as companions. A deity, ancient in her years, waiting to be freed from a duty she no longer enjoys. For all these people and their stories, none are the hero of this tale. No, the hero is not grand, not wise, not ready.. he was punished for nothing of his doing, who was an outcast that was unloved by many, including his father.” This was always the big reveal novices use to jump off into their story. He did not start here, instead, like any good fishermen, he set the bait and waited until the fish bit before pulling. As he saw the audience's eyes focus, he then started the backstory. The harness, that stopped the listeners from having metaphorical whiplash. The foreshadowing. “But that is not where the story starts. No, not even the hero's birth. Where the story begins, is the boredom of the deity, a deity many know of. She who hunts for the impossible, the guide for those who have lost the path, the Huntress of Mallon--” A small pause, a short breath. “--All old names for a single powerful being that has roamed the grounds of this continent longer than any line of kings or queens, lords or ladies. A being of worship for many an individual…” One last breath. And he began singing the first verse.
