《From NPC to villain》Chapter 7. Promise and Last Wish

As long as I can remember, Asania has always been a land of beautiful flowers. Lilies, the symbol of Asania, were fragrant around every corner, in every clearing, in every available area. In daylight, they shone white like milk, and their fragrance intoxicated everyone. As night fell, the lilies turned blue, like a moonless sky. As a little boy, I was captivated by this landscape. My love for the motherland prompted me to work for its benefit and for the benefit of all its inhabitants.
I wasn't physically strong, but I always loved books. Blank sheets of empty books always looked like a new beginning, and I didn't want to ruin their future. For my accuracy with books, others often called me a bookworm, but they just didn't understand me. After all, if you spoil the surface of a new book, you'll just have to throw it away, that is, ruin it. Of course, it sounds strange, but my mother always said that since childhood I thought that all objects have a soul.
In general, I adored books and absorbed knowledge from them. My love for books led me to a place that turned out to be important in my life – the royal Library. For someone who was obsessed with books, this place was like a sanctuary. Thousands of books, rare, ancient, unexplored.
After spending two decades in the library, I got my first assignment. The king sent me as part of a small group to search for rare specimens in Mitras. The people who inhabited this country discovered an underground library and since this land used to belong to the elves, they decided that the elves should explore the library. For a young elf like me, such a trip was a gift. Nevertheless, I didn't know that the real gift was waiting for me in the future.

Exploring the underground library, our group found hundreds of rare books, many of which were historical stories of our ancestors about Berlu. Some contained text that even the wisest of us could not read. In total, our expedition lasted 3 years. When I returned to the country, the first thing I hurried to the royal library. I was looking forward to studying the imported copies. It would seem that what could go wrong and turn my life around. What happened was that I met your mother.
The little girl looked into her father's face and smiled.
Rish: So you met Mom in the library.
Lurg: Yeah. Your mom came to the library as my assistant.
Rish: Did you fall in love with her right away?
Lurg: At first sight.
Rish: And Mom?
Gadlin: And I, but unlike your father, I tried not to show it. If you've already talked too much, then let's go eat. Dinner is getting cold.
Father and daughter got up from the grass. The girl took the elf by the hand, and they walked along the path along the changing lilies.
Rish: Dad, how did you get married?
Lurg: It's a long story, honey.
Rish: But I want to listen.
Lurg: Let's watch the sunset again tomorrow, then I'll tell you.
Rish: You promised.

Necromancer: Welcome to my domain. I'm sorry for your grief. The death of a child is the most terrible thing a parent can experience.
The Necromancer's words echoed through the empty hall. This place was once the heart of the strongest country, but today it is a dead room, devoid of light and filled only with blue lilies growing through the stone floor. The necromancer got up from the throne and went down to Alme. Her face expressed pain and grief. Lurg understood Alme perfectly.

Lurg: Why did you come? I don't think it's for consolation.
Alme: Your army… How do you raise the dead?
Lurg: You're not…
The necromancer didn't have time to finish. Alme handed him the cracked stone. The necromancer took the stone.
Lurg: Do you want me to bring your daughter back to life?
Alme was just silent.
Lurg: Even if I do, your baby won't come back. Instead, an embittered dead man will wake up.
Alme: Your army consists of those killed by monsters and people. When they died, they only knew anger. Therefore, when they woke up at your command, they were angry. Uuna is not like that.
Lurg: Alme…
Alme: They refused to bring her back to life! They said they didn't have time, but they just didn't want to save her!
The scream echoed through the hall. Alme fell to her knees and began to sob. Her shoulders were shaking and her fists were clenching the hem of her dress. Lurgus sat on his knees and hugged her.
Alme: They wouldn't let me get her back... if I just…
Lurg: Ringras decided so. You know we can't resist her orders.
Alme: If someone else had taken the order to resurrect fallen heroes... if she hadn't chosen me... Uuna would be alive…
Lurg: It's not your fault.
Alme: Give her back to me... please…
The necromancer sighed heavily. He took Alme's hands and the hall was filled with green light. Alme raised her head. Lilies were sown with silver light. Her daughter appeared in front of Alme's eyes. Lurg pulled Alme to her feet. Still holding her hand, the Necromancer led Alme to Uuna.
Lurg: It's not your daughter. It's just a shell left after her death. Like all dead people, she longs for the death of her killer. I'm holding her back, so you can say goodbye to her.
Alme ran her hand over her daughter's cheek. Instead of the warmth she was used to, she felt cold. The girl's eyes were empty. She didn't move. Alme knelt down again and hugged her daughter's cold body.
Lurg: You need to let her go. The dead, called by me, are driven by only one desire.
Alme: Do you know what will happen, if they grant a wish?
The Necromancer's face straightened. He was very surprised. What happens if they grant a wish? He had read about it, but he had completely forgotten. He didn't need to remember that.
Lurg: They will rest... the dead, who have achieved their goal, find peace.
Alme: That is, if her killer dies, will Uuna be able to find peace?
Lurg: I think so.
Alme laid her daughter among the flowers and closed her eyes. She folded her arms across her chest. After straightening her daughter's hair, Alme got up and looked at Lurg.
Alme: Help me fulfill my daughter's wish.
