Chapter 26
--------------------------------------------
Antona ran forward at her top speed. She had to quickly complete her assignment.
She had deemed this her second most important mission ever.
Of course, second to protecting & watching over Adrian.
She had risked exposing her existence in front of Adrian & even went against the Guild Master's orders.
But, she knew the importance of this trip. She quickly sped up and shifted through the multiple dungeons of fierce monsters.
She had long become accustomed to drifting in this forest & soon, she arrived at the Crimson Guild's headquarters.
After informing the guards, she quickly went towards the Guild Master's study & slipped inside.
Antona soon found the one she was looking for.
Sitting on a comfortable luxurious chair while dealing with a pile of documents was the sensual Guild Master of the Crimson Guild.
Antona quickly kneeled in front of Floriana & replied,
[Guild Master, Antona reporting.]
Floriana moved away from her work & glanced at her underling in confusion.
[I told you to guard Adrian... What is so important that you returned without him?]
Antona bowed her head shamefully & replied,
[Guild Master, Master Adrian knows of my existence & has allowed me to come back.]
Floriana stood up furiously as she picked up a vase & smashed it near Antona.
[How dare you reveal yourself in front of my son?! You're an Assassin!! Darkness is your element for victory & you abandoned it?!]
[You better have a good reason, or don't expect to go back unscathed...]
Antona trembled fearfully as she replied,
[I beg your forgiveness! Guild Master! But I returned for something very important!]
Floriana raised her brows as her curiosity was piqued,
[Oh? Then talk. What is it?]
Antona controlled herself & quickly presented the spray bottle of FULL HEAL in front of Florina.

[Guild Master, Master Adrian used this wonderful medicine on someone & he soon became healthy after it's use. He was almost dead before , but he recovered splendidly!]
Floriana received the medicine & looked it all over.
[So? Why did you bring it here?]
Antona quickly replied,
[Guild Master, the reason why we had been reduced to such a state is because of our elite general's injuries. Especially yours, Guild Master. If the medicine is put to use, surely it would be the time that our Guild fights back!]
Floriana digested everything Antona said so far & some queries popped up in her mind.
[Do you know who made this medicine? Or how Adrian came to have it?]
Antona kept silent for a while, before she replied,
[I'm sorry, Guild Master. I only came to know of this when Master Adrian used it on a patient.]
Floriana shook her head as she sighed to herself,
[Did Adrian give this away to you by himself?]
Antona replied without missing a beat,
[Yes! Guild Master, he gave it away as soon as he heard that the Guild needed it!]
Floriana smiled upon hearing this. Her lustrous lips curved up in an elegant arc.
(...my boy has grown up so much... so the matter about the guild's regression is known to him.. hah, oh well, time to work harder I guess...)
Floriana made a decision as she commanded,
[I understand. Then tell me, how much should I use of this?]
Antona looked at the bottle and quickly explained it's mechanism.
[The amount used up by Master Adrian was able to defy death! Surely half the amount would be sufficient.]
Floriana mused to herself, before going along with the suggestion,.
[If we act as you suggested, then it can be used 6 times. If it succeeds, call our best 5 generals that are grievously injured or retired & use it on them.]

Antona dutifully nodded.
[Yes, Guild Master.]
After which, she took the spray bottle & used it like what she had seen Adrian using it.
After a few minutes, the effects started to become apparent.
Floriana remarked as she felt the changes within her body.
[Oh? I feel a tingling sensation throughout my body & a numbing pleasure is overtaking my senses..]
Antona became excited as she replied.
[Guild Master! It must be working!]
Floriana nodded & tried to touch her old wounds. The obstructions they provided were lessening by the minute.
[Hmm. It seems that way. Let's wait until we see it's full capabilities.]
----------------------------------
After about 30 minutes, the effects finally slowed down.
Floriana moved her body and tried various battle techniques she had acquired at her peak.
Soon, she found out that she could use them flawlessly!
Next, she picked up her old heavy axe and tried to wield it to her limits.
She was pleasantly surprised, since she could use it better than the past!
[HAHAHAHAH!!]
A loud laughter resounded throughout the room, as Antona watched on patiently.
After Floriana calmed down, she remarked,
[Brilliant! Excellent!! This came at the right time. Call the generals back. It's time they resume their duties.]
Antona had waited for her command & quickly left.
Floriana, meanwhile looked outside the window, with her eyes burning with passion.
[Soon, this kingdom would once again be rocked by the name 'Crimson Guild'. The Blood Empress will make her return now..]
She smiled to herself as she planned about how to torment her enemies.

The Kodoku Game
In Japanese folklore, there once existed an ancient technique among alchemists for harvesting the strongest poison known to man. A poison so vicious, so horrendous, that a single drop could incapacitate an entire nation of humans, several times over. A poison so intense that a single drop could turn the tides of a war on its head. As potent as it appeared however, this poison could be harvested from the blood of a single insect alone- an insect the alchemist’s called the ‘Kodoku’. As lucrative as was attaining this poison however, the problem lied in identifying this insect- its appearance, shape and size changed from region to region and from continent to continent. Sometimes it took the appearance of a ladybug and other times a horned-beetle. In order to determine the identity of this special insect the alchemists came up with an ingenious method. They created an impregnable jar of clay out of the best sandstone they could find and placed hundreds of different insects into the same jar. The jar was made with such great mastery that it allowed no insects to escape and allowed no objects to enter. The laws of nature dictated that the insects would remain together in the jar forever. However, it turned out that as time went on, the insects’ hunger for food and power caused them to turn against each other- one insect ate another until only one remained. This sole insect contained a poison that far surpassed that of all the others and became stronger as it ate more and more insects. The alchemists at this point had succeeded in identifying the Kodoku and could extract it’s poison as long as they continued to feed it regularly. Although this folklore ends here, the actual story does not. One day, as the alchemists cheered in joy of having identified the Kodoku they so eagerly wanted, they forgot to close the lid on the very jar that was considered to be completely impregnable. This small gap was just large enough for the Kodoku inside to crawl out. Famished from not having been fed for weeks, the Kodoku ended up eating the very alchemists that nourished its growth until not even the bones remained. Yet, the Kodoku’s hunger didn’t seem to subside in the slightest. So it traveled to the next village and began eating whatever it could find there. Its poison made it unparalleled in strength and slowly but surely it began to dwindle down the population of the entire city. Yet its hunger only continued to grow. So it traveled to the next city over and ate all it could there. Very soon, the Kodoku couldn’t find any more food to eat. There was no one left to eat and no one left to spectate. So it stood there, by itself pondering what possibly was left to eat that could satiate its hunger. But there was one thing left that Kodoku realized it had never eaten. Itself.
