《Apocalypse The Fantasy》Chapter 1: Rebirth

I have returned to the time, where I activated my power for the first time. It was my third time to experience going back through the time. It should be a bit over a month after the apocalypse has started.
My head turned to the left and right, realizing that I was standing on top of a building.
"This building..."
I remembered it. This was a mall and everyone was rushing inside to secure food and weapon for themselves. My family also went in together and after a while, a gunfight started to take place. People died and we went hiding while panicked inside a storage room in the basement. It only had clothes and several bottles of water. After a week, we couldn’t stand any longer and dad started to explore the upper level.
Afterward, I followed behind and saw that he got himself killed by a bandit. I panicked and ran back inside the storage room. From the room, there was a small black stained-glasses window. When I heard the bandits have left with their cars, I told mom and little brother to stay inside the storage room as I sneaked around and got food for them.
That time, I was still frustrated that I couldn’t save my dad but I knew that he wouldn’t want me to get revenge for him. He wanted to save his family as much as he possibly could. I closed my eyes and clasped my wristwatch on my left hand.
"Don’t worry dad, I will protect your treasure for you."
Tears streaked down to my cheek even though I tried to restrain it. I wiped the tears and looked down the building to the road. What I saw was, aberrants. They were slow and look weak.
They had a different color of skin to determine their strength. The weakest, for now, would have red and brownish skin color while the strongest, for now, would have a beaming copper skin.

Having identified their number, I went down the stairs. I remembered the blueprint of this place. There was nothing on top of the building except for some broken pole and electric wires.
I felt confident as I climbed down the stairs. The power that I have was the power of Tree Life. In the past, it was a hidden treasure behind the disguise that made people think we were weak.
Even though for the first few stages, I needed some seed or plant to mediate with my abilities, I would be strong enough after I fought the aberrants. Around this time, the aberrants were still dumb, deaf, blind and slow. Also, if they ate something, they would need time to digest it and get stronger afterward.
Hence, I was not worried while going down the stairs.

Floor 3, the gaming center and cinema. As I sneakily open the emergency door and saw a few aberrants walking around the corridor while some were sitting on the bench.
Having lived for the third life, I experienced many things. Including being killed as an aberrant. Being an aberrant was the most suffocating experience ever. You had a consciousness but you couldn’t control what you think or what you do. You only know, hunger and kill.
Being aberrant did not mean dying but killed by someone who was alive did kills you.
"Fuu..."
I took a deep breath and walked toward the gaming center which on the left side while most aberrant was at the right.
There was no weapon as to be expected but what I want was still available.
Inside, the chairs were broken and just perfect for me. I sneaked in and took a few steel rod from the broken chairs and put them behind my back as I held one in each hand.
After I took another breath and calmed down the adrenaline in my blood. I ran toward an aberrant that was standing nearby. My muscle was not trained yet, thus I ran slower than expected and I made noises while running. The aberrant took notice and started to walk toward me.

Discord Community: https://discord.gg/3tHKHAx7Ye The Vitaean Chronicles are a debut LitRPG High Fantasy series written with the intent of filling a niche I've yet to see filled anywhere else. This is my first novel of this kind, so please be patient with me. Throughout this story, I will endeavour to create an evolving and expansive narrative anchored around believable characters, compelling plotlines, and a consistent and sensible magic system. The purpose of this work is to create what I believe to be a relatively unique piece of fiction, drawing inspiration from many great stories that have come before from the likes of Tolkien, Jordan, Hertbert, Goodkind, Pratchett, Martin, and several others. My goal is not to create a masterpiece, but simply to create a story that someone can read and re-read with the same joy, same frustration, and same investment each time. This story will contain violence, politics, Shakespearian drama, tongue-in-cheek references, adult content, and well-crafted relationships of both platonic and romantic natures. I will not promise you will like every choice I make. I can only guarantee that I will do my best to create a story I, and you, can be proud of. As I progress, I will have room to incorporate fan-made characters for those interested in making their mark within the tapestry of this tale (with the customary disclaimer that they do so while waiving any rights to future profit, lol). Thank you to Royal Road for giving me the platform to do that, and thank you dear readers past, present, and future for choosing to come on this journey with me. Finally, just to cover myself: This work is Copyrighted to the Author herein known as 'Hannibal Forge', and recreation, distribution, or re-release of any material herein in a commercial or public capacity absent permission from the Author can and will be prosecuted to the full extent of the Law.
8 187The Errant Otherworlder Watanabe
“In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death, taxes and trucks whom transport men to other worlds.” Meet our titular protagonist Haruto Watanabe, a man who has all the markings of a good protagonist for a generic portal fantasy story. As an overworked office worker, to escape from the grips of crippling capitalist alienation, he had taken up to reading many stories where young men like him were transported to other worlds and enjoyed their lives at a most leisurely pace. Armed with genre-awareness and (what he believes to be) a marketable personality which would make him an easy audience self-insert, he longed for the day the isekai express would take him to his long-awaited adventure to another world. When the fateful day came, where the fair yet harsh mistress that is the fabled truck took Watanabe on one last date to the other side, he was most ready to escape his previous life, ready to embark on an errant so great he’d be most overpowered, his heroics so exceptional and his harem so vast that they would barely fit ten or twenty volumes of an overly long novel made by a desperate author looking for quick cash. Lo and behold however, Watanabe instead found himself in a low fantasy world which lacked severely in the department of any game-like systems, cheat skills or easily charmed damsels in distress. In a setting so antithetical to his established genre savviness or any attempts at power fantasy, how will a man like Watanabe, lacking in strength, wits and courage, manage to survive in a land most foreign to him? This is my first time trying to share to the wider world what I’ve written, and I hope you’ll enjoy reading the errantry of Watanabe as much as I enjoy writing about them. I'll be posting one chapter per week on Sundays, along with extra chapters whenever I get the chance to write more than usual.

8 106Conquest Of Mortem
*NOTE* This novel is a war of attrition. To say anything less is a disservice to its demand. While comparable to other such works as Ulysses or Moby Dick, each sentence in Conquest is an enemy to be tackled. Not in the ways of difficulty but in absurd density that wishes nothing more than to destroy what patience you may have. Do not tackle chapters as you would ordinary chapters in an ordinary book. Tackle each chapter as a book unto itself. A foe to be vanquished, a period of life to leave behind. Seek to be master of this work. Seek to overcome. For in its design is the willpower, and the perseverance, and the strength of someone who sought meaning in struggle. As I discovered these in times of ultimate desperation, so I hope for you to discover these things. This novel is a love letter to your trials. May you overcome them. May you master them. May you become conquerer.- SeedSagaA literary epic for logophiles, philosophers, and poets alike. A journey into zeitgeist, the impact of media on culture, and the endurance of morality against an onslaught of hatred. These vague descriptions do little to compact Conquest's density into a bite-size summary. They do however relate the basest themes found within. A plot, if such can be surmised, is strung thinly across multiple perspectives, weaving together these concepts into a seemingly distorted tapestry of indecipherable events. Inspired by early 20th century modernism, Conquest will challenge the reader, and provide critique on the medium upon which all great stories are derived. Further interpretation is up to you now; an explorer among a sea of words. Venture on and discover what lies ahead, in...CONQUEST OF MORTEM
