《A Small Town Called Cadaver》Chapter 5

Earl moved his flashlight up and down the skeleton. It had a full uniform, blue and gray with a hat on too.
The outfit seemed familiar. He lightly kicked the hat off the skull and saw the logo written on it “POGO Mechanics.”
'Mh... Simon!' The name flashed in his mind, 'Yes, it's Simon! How’d you end up like this?'
Although Earl was getting used to the stronger smell in the cave, the corpse smelled awful.
Simon was one of those men who knew everyone in town, but they forgot about him when Earl was in his late teens.
Simon, a 60-year-old mechanic, always wanted to go to Mountain Cadaver and find out what's in the smelly cave.
Something not unusual for people to say in town, especially old folk who had grown in Cadaver. Earl thought there was something that drew people to the cave, like a call to adventure of some kind that builds over time and, when it reaches its peak, it’s nearly irresistible.
Simon's uniform was still intact, like the day he disappeared. He even had car keys attached to his belt.
Earl took the flash away from the corpse, walked ahead for a bit, passing by skeleton after skeleton. Soon, it became awfully normal to him.
Sometimes he heard voices, echoing from afar. Echoes so feeble, they seemed to come out of the cave walls themselves.
Something about this place made you feel like there was more than met the eye.
Once in a while Earl would walk into spiderwebs with no spiders. Or he would pass by wet, slippery ground but water was nowhere to be seen. Other times, he heard whispers in his ears, which gave him chills, yet he was alone.
Maybe it's just what happens when you're alone in the dark: your mind can't comprehend such an environment so it starts making things up to fill the void.

Earl wondered if the latest voice he heard was real.
'I think it's time to go guys...' A delirious female voice echoed. She sounded like someone who hasn't drank water in a while.
Earl stopped and waited, to know whether the voice would continue. He waited about 10 seconds...
'I've prayed to you God, but you haven't answered. No one has come to help us. We are all going to die here... Maybe it's true, you are a lie. Maybe if I prayed to Father Christmas, he’d come pick me up. If he can go through chimneys, he’ll have no problem down here. Or, maybe I’ll pray to the boogeyman... Bet he's friendly...' She struggled to laugh, coughing between chuckles.
Earl followed the voice.

Author's Note. This is book 7! Please feel free to hop on and enjoy! If you find you like my writing style, I hope you'll check out the first 6 books, all available to read on Kindle Unlimited, link below!) Alex was dying, and all the millions his father had left him meant nothing. The life he had been so eager to embrace, to do the memory of his father proud, would soon come to an end. Cancer. That ugly, terrible word. He had tried to be strong for his mother, even when the treatments left him violently ill, his body wracked with pain, his friends and even his girlfriend leaving him almost as fast as his once impressive physique wasted to nothing under the ravages of his illness. And just when he thought all hope was dead, a couple discrete referals placed by high-powered friends of his family got him an exclusive spot at the most sophisticated cryonic facility in the world. He didn't know if there was such a thing as an afterlife, but part of the package included uploading a copy of his cortex into a digital universe filled countless worlds to explore, where he could embrace whatever class or profession he could dream of. All of which sounded hell of a lot better than the miserable death waiting for him in the real world. In the end, he signed the paperwork, putting his pathetic flickering life in the hands of potential quacks and charlatans. After all, with death just days away, what did he have to lose? Even if he could never be successfully revived, he could at least adventure his heart out. (Authors Note: Books 1-6 are now live on Amazon and here is a link if you wanted to check it out! And I will continue to post chapters to Book 6 here first, until that tale is told! I hope you enjoy! And if you wanted to help support my work by checking out book 1 on Amazon, I would be extremely grateful!)

It seems time-consuming and dangerous, but Benimaru learned not to question it too much, largely because he had other things to worry about.Graduating community college, getting into Vermillion University with his best friend Aaron, and reminding everyone that he and Aaron are JUST best friends and have been for a long time.Aaron providing fan service to the girls in town doesn’t help their cause. Benimaru doesn’t understand why Aaron feels the need to tease him and the fangirls like that, but maybe it’ll all settle down when they move in with Charlie and start a new chapter in their lives at Vermillion University... Right?

You guessed it! Andrea is the mermaid, and Miranda is the Queen...Follows the plot of the original Disney movie pretty well, but I also added some things. I just really love the idea of Mirandy as the starring roles in the Little Mermaid!(fanfiction.net)
