Kali put down the girl on the bed and the group faced her. “She needs a name.” “But what would it be Z?” “Maybe Hannah.” “To normal.” “Sandra.” “Seriously?” “What you come up with one then.” The girl looked at the two nervously. “Stop it you two, lets leave this up to the girl and Kali understand?” “The both nodded. “Okay.” Kali walked up to the girl, “So you’re a mage? What do you specialize in?” “U-um, I special-ize in, destructive type magic, illusion, and summoner.” “A summoner?” Kali said in surprise. “Those are a rare find. What can you summon?” “OH, um I can’t im too embarrassed its easier to do it outside.” “Hmm okay we can do that after. Now you do need a name though.”
“Name? I already have one, you guys never asked me.” “Oh you do?” “Lil-Lilith.” “Lilith, that’s a wonderful name. I’m happy to have you join us, however, you need some new gear and I know just the place.” Lilith’s eyes widened in excitement as she has never been treated this nicely before. They left the castle and headed towards the merchants store to refashion their newest member.
“Here we are, the place where we all got upgraded, minus this fella.” Zero said elbowing Alex. “Lilith let me introduce you to the old man who got us into shape.” The Merchant walked up to Lilith as he looked her up and down, “Why hello there, young lady, and the champion, what can I do for you all today?” “We were wondering if you could reequip our newest member.” “I see, so what does she specialize in?” Lilith turned to the man and replied, “Long distance magic, with some support abilities.” “A mage then? I can work something out. Do you have a weapon that I can work on as well?” She lowered her head, “No, I’m afraid I lost it.” “That’s okay, after your reoutfitted you can look for one in my store how bout it?” “Really?!” “Yes now follow me.”

Lilith followed the Merchant to the back to get herself refashioned. The group waited for around 10 minutes in the store, the girls restocked their mana stone supply, Alex looked at the weapons on the racks. Kali stared at the junk items, like a child she ran over to Alex showing him a figurine that was on a shelf. “Alex! Look at this thing! I’ve never seen one of these before isn’t it cute!?” “A little toy like that? Aren’t you too old for those types of things?” Kali looked shocked at his reply. “Gasp! How can you say such a thing! I’ll have you know Alex that girls never grow up when it comes to cute things.” “Right, right, my mistake so are you getting this then?” “No, can’t right now I’m low on funds since you guys haven’t done any guild quests while I was out.” “Right we did go through those funds quickly from Mal.”
Before they could talk more the Merchant came out and present Lilith who instantly made the two girls hearts melt. “Now presenting the Mage of wonders Lilith!” “h..hi guys.” Zero fell to her knees “Too… cute! Zi help me.” “I can’t… I’m melting from the adorableness.” Lilith’s new set included an orange and black striped robe, a pitch black hat, and black shoes. “Do I look that good?” “Yes you stand out quite nicely out of the five of us for sure.” Replied Kali. The girls couldn’t respond and Alex simply said. “That will do then for the group then.” “What’s that supposed to mean?!” “Just that Zero, don’t take it that hard for her.” She gave him a sour look. “Now Lilith you get to choose a staff or scepter of your choice.” “Really?!” Lilith went over to the scepters and looked around for a bit until she came across an engraved twisted wooden scepter. “Woah.” She said in awe of the unique shape of it. “My, my is that the one you choose?” She nodded her head.
“Well that’s been sitting there for as long as I can remember, as always free of charge for the champion party members.” “Thank you so much mister! Ill be sure to give this stick some good practice!” The Merchant smiled at kali, “So… is she strong enough?” “Yes she is Myra.” “Good” The merchant went back behind the curtains.

“KALI! Come on I wanna show you guys some of my magic!” “Go on ahead guys I got to finish checking some of the details on my armor I’ll catch up!” “Sure, but don’t take too long you stud!” Zero screamed out while running away.
Outside of the city gates there was a small pasture and a large tree, The group minus Alex who was still in town. “Okay guys um stand right here okay, im going to cast some simple illusion magic to start off.” Lilith backed up and began her chant. “Light become shadows and disguise my allies, Kamo!” She sent a blast of magic at the group who in turn braced themselves. The magic hit them and transformed the group into new identities, race, and outfits. “With this nifty new outfits we are totally untraceable but enemies.” “Woah.” Zero twisted and turned to see herself. “So that’s what I’d look like as a human?” Ziro stared at her. “For some reason you look more attractive as a human.” “Quit your kidding you cant handle all this as an elate.”
The disguises timed out and the spell ended. “Awe…” Zero said as she transformed back to her original self and outfit. “What you got next lil?” asked Ziro. “My familiar, when promised mages turn to summoning at an early age they get to choose a familiar to follow them to battle and live with at any and all times. My familiar is this.” She turned and chanted a short spell. “Come to me struma!” A wolf jumped out of the scepter and sat in front of Lilith.
“His name is Struma, a dire wolf familiar, he and I have been partners for many years. Weve formed a strong bond. Watch this. Struma!” The wolf turned to her call. “Marked for death.” Lilith target a tree nearby and the wolf slashed one swipe at the tree cutting it into pieces. “Holy shit! That was amazing! And you did that all with one command?” Kali praised Lilith. “Hu hu hu hu. You haven’t even seen my destructive capabilities!” the girls tilted their heads, “Ready when you are.” “right. First a protective shield to protect you from the debris that may come back at me. Aura of the undying knight protect my allies!” A silhouette of a knight in shining armor formulates in front of the group and vanishs.
“And now my ultimate spell. Let fire consume those who defy my name, and those who deny my beliefs, AMA MARI RA COZEN!” Fire was flung onto the ground that went in the direction she pointed her scepter, until the flames shot up and curved inwards and hit the ground with such force that the ground blew up beneath it. Giant masses of the earth were thrown into the air and flung in multiple directions. Some of the debris hit the shield protecting the group. It seemed as if she was not going to be hit by any of the debris. The spell ended and all that was left was searing scorch marks from the ground and a giant crater.
“That, was so cool!” Zero cried out in excitement. “Yeah it was pretty cool I guess” Lilith replied. “So that’s a normal spell?!” “Yeah it is Kali, that’s my most mastered spell however. I also do a little healing. Not life saving just cleansing and small wound spells is all.” Arriving as late as ever Alex enters the field. “Alex you missed the most amazing spell ever!” “I saw some big explosion and fire from the city is everything alright?” “Yes everything is in fact our little Lilith just showed us how powerful she is.” As the team prepared to leave a loud gumbling noise came from the crater. And out from it a basilisk crawled out. The group prepared themselves for battle.

Luck And Chronomancy
Time Magic is the best magic as everyone knows, although there are lots of unique Talents in the world. Most people only remember Haste because it is hard to get to higher Phases of Chronomancy. That is still enough to make the Talent iconic. A lucky enough Aleatory Talent can position you for greatness or leave you languishing in obscurity. The only true equality in the world is when that glowing message pops up at 8 years old. Even if it doesn't activate until you are an adult at 16 you still know. Sure you can find a new dungeon spawn and get another chance at a rare Talent, even this one, but you have to already be ready to delve into the *Far Wilds*, which is far easier with wealth or family power. This is the story of where my good fortune took me and the difference it made, even among a party of 7 others including an Arcanist. It is a journey of magic and monsters but also math, which some think is actually worse. Luckily I was born with Intelligence and Focus as my personal traits, and my parents were scholars. Of course Chronomancy can also be a frontline combat talent. Versitility well beyond other Elder Talents like Gravity, Abstraction, or Arcana. Might could have worked for me, too. I also met a runaway princess. All the best adventures have a princess. She hated being a noble and we didn't get married but it still counts. Besides she really filled out our front line. All that Leadership training came in handy. I still don't know where she's from. Who cares? How well Haste goes with giant hammers is what's important. I never learned much about anyone in the party, except the one I grew up with. I'm not a people person. I just wanted to optimize dungeon clearing time. *******Story Details******* No romance, politics, or traumatizing content, slice of life, or even dialogue. 1st person narration, like a guide/adventure log. 2000-7000 words a day, maybe 40-60% rpgish combat log with some reasoning on combat decisions, with the rest character Talent discussion and progression stuff. 8 person party with a decent variety in roles. Party members usually have 2 primary functions. Told from the support/control Chronomancer's perspective. Each party member will have 6 Basic/Background Traits, then 3 actual Talents with abilities. Capstone from their Educational Institution, Arbritrary as a gift from the temples, and Aleatory which is decided at birth, revealed at 8, and activated after adulthood at 16. Aleatory Traits ignore requirements and are random why is why they are so important. They'll gain new Talents from finding Dungeons to consume in the *Wilds*. Mature dungeons in cities can provide *Challenges* to raise the Phase of a Talent, up to 3 times from 1 to 4. Each character will get to roughly 8 non-Trait Talents. Attributes come exclusive from Talents, are required by Talents, and provide various effects as well. I designed about 220 Talents with abilities, 4 in each of 4 phases. "Traits" are just Attribute stuff. I'm not sure how many will be detailed in the story, more than 100 for sure. I used Talents because I want to be free of the legacy of tabletop. Half those rules are just because of the limitations inherent in a pre-computer ttrpg. This story mostly uses combat Talents, although like 1/3 of the 220 are for crafting and other society and economy stuff. If you really wanted to be a Thief you might take Intuition, Awarness, and Might for Basic Traits and Deftness, Manipulation, and Trickery for Family/Education. Then you'd pick Acrobatics, and Climbing for Educational Capstone and Arbitrary traits. You Aleatory Trait might be Shadow(Light/Dark) Magic, Umbramancy. A Bard might swap Dexterity for Charisma, Music for Acrobatics, and have gotten Illusion(Shadow/Sound(Air/Force)) for their Aleatory Trait.
