《Era of Creation》Painless Afternoon

Three days have past since Zero disappeared and the toll is starting to effect the group. Kali tried to keep the morals positive but is starting to break as well. With only four days to start, unless Veksis changed the rules, they can only hope the best for Zero’s life. Ziro hasn’t been the same, and the two armies are growing restless, if they wanted to move against Veksis, then it had to be soon. As the day goes on our group gathers in the market to prepare to move out against Veksis. The war of the world is soon to begin and the end of days is approaching closer, the armies of Elantra and Veil gather outside of the kingdom of Veil.
“Troops! I know that what is about to happen will be the most terrifying, fight you would ever take part in! Some of you may not survive, so I do not blame anyone of you to run away now.” Gabriel looks on as both armies show no signs of moving, strength and bravado boast throughout the air. “Good, Now for our support, the three god’s who have chosen to back us up Entwine, Myra, and Vyra.” Three objects formed out of a mist, it was the three gods. “My, my, what a huge crowd we have Sister, wouldn’t you agree?” “Quite true, Entwine it has been some time hasn’t it? What have you brought to the table?” “I Lady Myra, have brought protection of lasting effects.” Entwine casted a green mist over both armies laying his gift upon them all.
“I have brought with me the gift of foresight.” Vyra casted a red mist over the armies handing out his gift, lastly was Myra. “I have brought with me protection of the mind and spirit to assit you all through the dark shadows.” Myra casts a blue aura over the the armies bestowing her gift last. With that the gifts have been handed out to the armies, and once more Gabriel stepped up this time with Kali and Wisp. “Listen up! This, is the Champion of the Gods! This girl is to be protected at all cost even if it means sacrificing your life for her. Without The Champion, Veksis will have won. Now She has a few words of advice to hand out before our march!” Gabriel lowered his voice and looked down slightly at Kali. “Good luck, Champion.”

Kali nervously nodded her head and stepped up in front of the giant combined army. The mass looked on in anticipation, all staring directly at Kali. (Great as if I couldn’t feel more nervous.) Tightly gripping her wand, gulping in anticipation, she took a deep breath in and out. “My name, is Kali, Champion of the Gods! I am Holy Priest and the only Priest to ever be a champion!” The crowd Gasped when they heard her words, even a few Holy priest remarks were mumbled. None the less she continued. “Veksis has never gone against a priest before, and I know how to break him. But he is a slick enemy, the dark fog that surrounds the castle is a mental spell, hold fast and move through the fog with your mind clear. The enemies we will be facing include dark soldiers, archers, and colossus’s. use your class abilities to defend yourself besides that they are just cannon fodder. Veksis’s last defense outside his castle is his commanding officer a Dark Centurion. Leave him to me and my group understand?”
The crowd Yelled out “YES MA’AM!” “Good, after that it will be just me and my group from then on!” Kali gestured behind her, Ziro, Ram, Rom, Wisp, and an empty space where Zero would have stood. Kali looked forward as in moving on. “That’s all, when this is over…. The world will be at peace, and the darkness will be gone. For Eon!” “FOR EON!” Kali stepped down and Gabriel initiated the march, a roar of footsteps marched forward away from Veil, and towards Veksis’s castle. Kali and her group in front, Gabriel, Surgeos and Elizabeth as well, all holding their weapons and hearts close and tight.
No one wanted to say a word on the march and as expected no one did. It was a still atmosphere of tension and anticipation. However what Kali didn’t account for was how Veksis would counter the march, how could he dispel a force of this magnitude, oh how little she knew. The Ground became cold, colder then ice, a dark fog flooded the area, tainting the ground with the darkness. Veksis called out through the darkness “Fools! How dare you crawl back to me!” The ground turned to mud sinking the soldiers as well as their mounts, and mechanisms. Suddenly the ground started to harden crushing anything in its clutches. “STAND UP! OR BE CRUSHED! HURRY!” The soldiers got up with the loss of a few groups and machines and groups of riders. Kali looked back and noticed what they were up against.

“Everyone! Keep your ears and eyes on quick notice, he might try again!” Kali shouted and continued forward. “Ma’am, that was a shout, a type of magic that doesn’t need a user to be in the area to use, he may have more of this type of magic, stay vigilant as well.” “Ram, Rom you two alright? And you Ziro?” “We are fine Kali.” Ziro clenched her chest, “Yea. Same.” Kali Walked over to Ziro and picked her up, “It’ll be fine, we’ll get Zero back and kill Veksis.” Ziro shoved her head into Kali’s shoulder and jumped out of her arms. “Thanks Kali, I’ll be fine.” Ziro continued forward and left Kali to walk and play catch up.
The armies have finally reached the edge between the light and dark, Right before Veksis’s land. The fog crawled all around the marching force and once again Veksis shouted out, “FALL TO MY POWER!” Veksis shouted and out from the mist the dark soldiers marched on the armies. The two sides clashed and Kali and her group were caught in the front. Thousands of swords and arrows crushing each other, left and right forces from both sides fell. More on Veksis’s side, though it seemed the darkness had an unlimited supply of troops.
Kali did her best to keep as many troops as she could alive as well as her own group. Suddenly an arrow whizzed by and sliced Kali’s arm. “GAH!” “Kali!” Ziro rushed and pushed her to the ground from another arrow, which hit her shoulder. “Ziro your arm, her hold still.” “No its fi.. AH!” Kali took the arrow out and casted a healing spell which fully recovered the wound. “Thanks, looks like you being a holy priest has its benefits.” “Let go then!” They continued forward until reaching the front meeting the commanding officer The Dark Centurion.
“FOOLS, YOU DARE COME AND FACE ME WITH SUCH A SMALL FORCE? MY MASTER IS DISPLEASED WITH YOUR ACTIONS HAHAHA!” The commander started his attack. “Dispel your attacks!” The officer casted a shadow over the group which made them drop their weapons and pushed back. “Gah what was that?” Ram called out, “I don’t know but he made us fall back instantly.” “Lets make this interesting shall we?” The commander wasted no time in his attack, he pushed forward side to side and slammed his blades at Kali who dodged his attempt at a blow. “Attack now!” Kali called out and the group made their move. However as soon as they did the commander announced, “You dare disgrace me!?” But it seemed to late.
Ziro sliced at his leg opening his leg, “Gah pathetic WRENCH!” He slashed at Ziro who dodged and allowed the sword to lodge itself into the castle wall. Ram casted her artillery shot which rained down death from above. Throwing the Commander to the ground he attempted one more call. “HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE, ITS NOT, POSSIBLE!” The commander casted out a dark aura in his final words and exploded into darkness, throwing the group away. Kali healed the team and they moved forward past the now dead Commander. They were on their own now, but would they be prepared for the horrors of the castle of the dark lord himself?
“I AM IMPRESSED ANYONE ELSE WOULDN’T HAVE MADE IT THIS FAR, BUT CAN YOU DEFEND AGAINST THIS?” Kali, Ziro, Wisp, Ram, and Rom looked forward at a gate opening revealing, a being, of immense height. “FEEL MY WRAITH!” The being stepped into the light and revealed itself to be, Zero, or was Zero. “Z?” A tear shed in both Ziro and Zero’s eyes until Zero called out. “RUN OR PARISH” “IM SORRY!”

Demons Don't Lie
Algier, average human and recent convict, has committed the gravest sin of all: demon slaying. His fate? To participate in the Culling, a battle-royale style tournament that’s televised live to the world, where all the worst criminals go to die. As with all tournaments, a prize is on the line. If Algier survives, he can have any wish granted by the Marquises, the new rulers of Earth following the demons’ invasion. However, there’s little hope for survival in a tournament designed to have demons do the work of the executioner, especially for a human. Demons are stronger, faster, wiser, and more talented than the average human, and, despite his crime, Algier is no demon hunter. Mentally defeated before the tournament even begins, Algier is torn between becoming another demon’s points and fighting on in his dead mother’s legacy. But should he choose to fight, there is one advantage that Algier has that can tip the odds in his favour: Demons don’t lie, but humans can. How to read this story Demons Don't Lie is written from the perspective of an unreliable (lying) narrator. There are many inconsistencies within the story which are placed there intentionally. It's up to the reader to decide what is the truth and what is the lie. Promotion Full quality cover image
