I try not to be too mean. I can’t help it. It’s not who I am, but it’s who I have to be. My father was very strict when I was a boy.

He said, “if someone doesn’t work as hard as you want them to, take something away from them.”

So I try that method with the Winter girl. I never cared for the name Pamela, so I call her by her last name. I can’t help hating her a little bit. She reminds me too much of my mother, who died when I was 12.

Finally, Winter walks in.

“What took you so long?” I demand.

“Don’t answer. No time can be wasted. Get started.” I say.

She starts singing, but as usual, I stop listening after the first couple of songs.
