《Star War》Chapter 10

The pod reached the atmosphere and caught on fire from the outside.

“We’re going to die,” whimpered Karis.

“Yes, you are, if you keep picking at that scab on your chest,” said Adala, looking down at Karis.

“Well I wouldn’t have this giant cauterized wound if it weren’t for you,” she spat back at her. Vori silenced Adala, who was about to speak.

“We’re going to be fine, okay? The pod’s just going to crash land on the planet. No big deal,” she said calmly. Suddenly the jedis crashed into the planet. Adala popped the top hatch off the escape pod. She read the outside.

“Made for one person…” she trailed off as she helped Karis out of the pod.

“Ugh sand,” complained Karis, dusting off her clothing. She looked around at the landscape of the planet. Sand. “It really does get everywhere,” she thought, trying to brush the gritty particles off her clothes.

“Can I have something to block the sand from entering my wound?” she asked. No one replied. Karis ripped part of her robe off and blocked the entry way. “DIY bandage.”

“That cannot be sanitary,” Vori declared, looking down at her two remaining fingers on her right hand. She had already bandaged them using their ship’s first aid kit.

“So where are we anyway?” Tama asked, looking around the planet.

“We’re in a desert,” Adala replied.

“No, I hadn’t guessed,” grumbled Karis.

“So where exactly are we?” asked Tama.

“Well, according to my convenient object called a P.L.O.T. device, we are on Tatooine,” Vori announced.

“Oh! I know that planet! We should go to Tosche Station to pick up some power converters,” suggested Tama. Everyone looked at her.

“So can you take us there?” Adala asked. Tama thought for a moment.

“If we use Vori’s P.L.O.T. device, we can probably figure out where it is, and then create a plan for getting there. Hopefully it’s not too far.”

Vori checked the device. “It looks like it’s just over the next sand dune.”

“Wow, that P.L.O.T. device really does work!” Adala exclaimed.

“That’s what it was made to do,” Vori replied.

The four of them walked over the sand dune. It took longer than they expected, since the dune was so high. As they walked, the rough, coarse, irritating sand got everywhere. By the time they reached the station, they were sandier than the sand people.

“What the heck Tama, this is a cantina!” said Adala. “I thought we were getting repairs!” Tama shrugged.

“I thought we could stop for a drink,” she said.

“Tama, jedi knights don’t drink,” said Adala.

“We’re not jedi knights anymore,” said Tama. “In case you forgot.”

“So does that mean we should abandon our jedi principles?” Adala demanded.

“Or we could just get lemonades,” Vori suggested, pointing to the kid’s menu. Tama ignored her.

“You will get me your best drink, and throw in some change,” said Tama to the barista using a jedi mind trick.

“Tama!” Adala yelled. “The jedi mind tricks are supposed to be used for good, not to get free stuff! It’s like you’re starting to turn to the Dark Side!”

The barista shrugged and plopped some eyeballs and ground meat into a blender. Tama’s eyes filled with horror.

“It’s a Tatooine classic,” said the barista, handing over the revolting puree of meat and a stack of Altarian dollars. Tama took a sip.

“Not bad,” she said, handing the drink to Adala. “You should try it.” Adala had a revolted look on her face.

“I’ll take three lemonades,” said Vori to the barista. “Let’s go sit down to plan what we do next.”
