The Roamer
Chapter 30: Beginning of a revolt
“Brat, you’ve done amazingly well to win against Klaus!” the old announcer said, and pissed off Aeolus a bit. He had just beaten two opponents in a row, but this old geezer was still calling him a brat? Still, he kept calm for the most part, and even released a smile unto the crowd.
“Well, I’ll be going in a bit.” Aeolus said, and then kneeled down towards Klaus’ body, and after two minutes, he stood up, along with the corpse of Klaus. A lot of people within the stands gasped, but the majority were calm, as if this was to be expected.
‘It seems I have underestimated Pangaea, these people were even expecting a sight such as this.’ Aeolus thought within his head, while blaming himself for underestimating this land mass. Even though it was one of the weakest and smallest, it seemed to be ferocious if the sight of bringing back the dead didn’t shock most.
“Well, it could just be this arena.” Aeolus said, and turned to the announcer, while blinking as if he was an innocent young boy. He looked the announcer up and down, and reached his hand out towards him. He was currently using his spirit to bring in the announcer.
The announcer immediately came flying, and crashed right in front of Aeolus.
“Wha-!” the announcer began to yell, but Aeolus immediately gestured for him to get quiet.
“So, what reward do I get now?” Aeolus said to him, displeasure drawn on his face. He wanted to get whatever it was he would win, and get out. He already gained a lot from this trip to the arena though, so he wouldn’t be too unsatisfied with nothing as a reward.
“R-R-Reward? Y-Yes, of course you’d want a reward for becoming the strongest!” the announcer yelled, while his legs seemed to have turned into jello, with some piss staining them. Aeolus smirked, and pushed him even further by radiating a little of his aura.
“P-Please don’t kill me! Dorey, bring in our treasure!” the announcer roared, while Aeolus himself had stepped back from shock, but immediately recovered his state of mind.
‘To think this announcer was also the person who was in charge of this place.’ Aeolus thought to himself, trying to remember if any other arena he had went to was the same.
Shortly after, a gnome came running, holding what seemed to look like a seed. Aeolus was immediately disappointed. What kind of arena had its most precious treasure in the form of a seed?

“Explain what this seed is, and why it’s useful for me.” Aeolus said, flashing some fake killing intent into the announcer.
“It is predicted that this is the seed of a great bonsai tree, one that reaches into the clouds! W-Who knows, you might find something by climbing it!” the announcer desperately said, clearly trying to escape the clutches of Aeolus. He was finally let go of, and he immediately booked it.
Aeolus threw the seed at the ground, and turned around. The announcer was taken back by this sudden development, and yelled towards the back of Aeolus:
“Why would you leave behind such a treasure?!”
Aeolus stopped in his tracks, and turned his head around. He was smiling like a devil, though the smile did seem a little sad.
“I don’t need external factors to get strong. I’ll conquer this world with my own spirit, vitality, and affinities. Anything else is unnecessary, and won’t let me get as strong as I could if I relied on myself.” Aeolus said calmly, and soared out of the hole which he dropped in from.
‘That kid… he’ll become a big shot in this world future, whether or not I like it.’ the announcer finally realized just what this brat might become in the future, and his potential. He then began laughing crazily, as if he had lost all sense of humanity.
“Dorey, I’ll be quitting this arena. You can take over for me.” the announcer and owner of this stadium finally decided to quit after two decades.
“I’ve experienced enough battles to last a man two lifetimes.” he said, and walked out of the arena with a smile on his face. In his mind, he was jumping with pride.

“Now, I should check out how Dasline is doing, maybe it fitted into the army by now?” Aeolus muttered to himself, while sensing out the illusionist he had used to replace the unfortunate guard. After sending his spirit out for a while, he finally picked up on its soul.
‘It seems to be in some sort of building?’ Aeolus wondered, but immediately dropped it. Just as he had said before, he trusted in his undead. For that reason, he would leave everything to Dasline, and it would come back successful. If it didn’t, then it was his fault for being too weak as a wielder of the affinity of death.
He then began walking towards a huge manor that seemed to have the whole city revolving around it. He used a little of his wind affinity, just to speed up the process of getting there.

“So this is the home of the big shots of this city?” Aeolus wondered, and walked on in. Inside, there were many people eating and drinking, and some just conversing. It was clear that there was some sort of party, or else, he would have gotten kicked out by now.
“Welcome to the anniversary of lord Wichingham, slave of this city. Enjoy it to your fullest capacity, before you go back to logging wood or whatever you do tomorrow.” some guard said to Aeolus, with a disgusted look on his face. Aeolus simply smirked, and moved on in, since he now understood the situation.
‘Right now, I’m free to do whatever I want in this manor, since it’s a special day apparently.’ Aeolus took note in his head, thinking of the many ways he could use it against others. He bumped into a couple of people here and there on purpose, just to see how they would react.
Surprisingly, they didn’t react at all, and kept enjoying themselves to their fullest.
‘Since this is their only day to enjoy themselves, these slaves want to use it to the fullest.’ Aeolus reminded himself in his mind, pitying these poor people who didn’t want to waste even a second acknowledging him.
“Hello my dear slaves, and welcome to my anniversary! How are you enjoying it so far?” Some man floating above the whole room said, with a disgusting laugh coming afterwards. He had a sick smile on his face, and clearly had no intentions of being sincere with these people.
‘So this is the guy who’s in charge of this city?’ Aeolus thought within his mind, acknowledging his opponent. In the past, he would have considered stepping up right now to confront him, but he didn’t want a repeat of the massacre of an explosion that happened before.
‘From now on, I’ll bring down the nobles of an area more secretively, sticking to the shadows.’ Aeolus said within his mind, resolution stinging throughout his whole body. His eyes looked like the ocean, with vast wisdom located within.
None of the slaves reacted to the lord, still conversing with each other. However, if you looked close enough, there were many, if not everyone, that were sweating profusely. They were clearly scared of what was to come.
At this sight, which the lord clearly noticed, he burst out into a laugh even more maniacal then last time, and even had tears rolling down his face.
“Sick bastard” Aeolus said in a whispered tone, relieving his anger while also concealing it. He would definitely take down this lord, no matter what.
He spent the rest of the anniversary time scoping out the insides and outsides of the manor, preparing for a scenario in which he’d fight to the death inside this manor. If he were to fight in this manor, knowing the surrounding area would definitely bring in some kind of benefits.
“The anniversary is over, go back to your buildings and prepare for more slave work tomorrow!” A guard that seemed to be hammered yelled, which a sly grin on his face. He was clearly making the most out of this anniversary as well.
At that sentence, all the people located within the manors had downcast faces, and didn’t want to go back to their old life.
‘Don’t worry, you’ll all be liberated soon.’ Aeolus said within his mind, making a pledge to the slaves, no, people of this city. For now, he’d leave this manor, and plan out his future strategies. He receded from the city, and took to the skies.
“Still, the people of this land seem to be powerful, lords of the previous land mass I was on certainly weren’t that strong.” Aeolus said into the air, remembering the aua he had felt from the lord during the anniversary. It was a suffocating aura, which meant that the lord was much stronger then he was.
“I’ll really have to hit the drawing board today.” Aeolus said, while landing onto his little log.
