Chapter 10 Village

“Oh Rumia are you awake?” I greeted Rumia who is just now wake up. “Uh? It’s morning? Did you not sleep King?” She asked. She is right about that but there is no way that I would tell her about that. “No, I just woke up real early so I can prepare the carriage” I reply her and gently pat her head.

“Hehehehe” Rumia said as I pat her. We are currently in a forest, the thick tall tree surround us with its enigmatic shades. The fog creeps into the ground and air, making it looks like a ghost from afar. Rumia close the distant between us and grasped the back of my clothes.

“I-I just notice this King, but….This place is quite scary r-right?” She gazed at me as if looking for agreement. “Hmm? I might say that this is quite a dark place, but there is no way close to the things that scare me” “T-then even King have a things that he’s afraid of?” She asked.

“Yes, of course. Every creature have a things that they are afraid of, but what you need to do is get rid the source of your fear and everything will be good” Rumia shakes her head and while saying “I don’t understand at all”

I put back my sight in the road and reply “Well, you are right. You are too young to understand this thing” After an hours of travelling, the one whom following us decided to show up. “SSSSSS” “Eik! A-a gi-giant s-s-s-snake!!!!”

“I can see that” “That’s not my point!” Well, for you to retort me like that means that you are most likely fine. “What should we do!?” She shouted. I think that this is the right time I should tell Rumia a little bit of myself. “Rumia, you are mine now right? So you will obey my command right?” “Wha-! You’re asking that right now!” I look at her and nodded.

“O-Of course I’m yours! You can do everything you want with me!” “Well, I do not need to hear the last part though” Rumia covers her face as she hid her face to me. “So Rumia, for now just stay in this carriage and try to not to make a noise.” “Hm!Hm!” Rumia nodded as she covers her mouth this time, her face were a bit red though, I wonder what happened to her.

I took out a sword out the bastard sword in the carriage and face the Tree Snake. It is named tree snake not only because it is huge as the tree that you can find in their habitat, but also they have the tree for their diet. The tree tnake rushes towards me, piercing through the fog that is around us. The Snake move so fast that he is leaving huge tracks in his behind.

I quickly step sidewards and cut the left side of the snake. The scales and the sword clash with each other, causing it to generate an orange spark. But the snake did not stop his movement but instead turn left and starts to form a circle around me. The snake moves so fast that it causes the leaves and the branch of the trees to get blown away.

The circle gets slowly gets smaller as the snake moves around. “You want me to crush with your gigantic body?” I said. “But because of that, Rumia cannot see me now. I am free to use my power now, I will show you the supremacy of a demon compared to a mere snake” I use the Sin of Wrath. The immeasurable power starts entering my body.

A dark red light glows faintly as it travel through my veins causing it to be visible through my skin. I raise the sword and throw it to the snake and as expected, it does not harm the snake and just deflected by its scale. But that is not my plan though. I observe the snake and look for the head. When I finally spotted the head I follow it and punch it. I twist my foot and after that my waist and transferred the momentum into my fist and hit the snake.

*BOOM*after the hit. The snake suddenly lost control and starts ramming to the tree. The smoke arise from the commotion, the path that snake crush in turns into a ruin. The fog that is disturbed earlier slowly takes its place again.

“Wow… King you’re amazing!” After the fight Rumia immediately run towards me and hug my waist. “That was cool King! How did you manage to defeat that giant snake!?” She asked me. “Oh that? It is the snakes own doing, he just stumble to some rocks and lost it control” I said.

“Eh? I see, that maybe the case. But you’re still incredible King, who would have thought that you’re a skilled swords man as well, good thing that giant snake is dumb” She said while believing my words. “You are right, now let us leave this place shall we?”

“You’re not gonna do something to that snake King?” “Hhmm… There is nothing we can do about it. It is too heavy for the horse to carry” I reply. Besides I do not want any foul smelling thing in my carriage. “That’s a waste” Rumia then run towards the place where me and the trees snake fought and pick up some scales.

“What are you doing?” I said. “Picking up some scale” She said. “I know that, I am asking you the reason on why are you picking up that thing” “Because I’ve read that, materials from strong monster fetch a high price at the market” “I see… then should I help you?” I said and started walking towards to her. “No King, I will take care of this myself. I’m the one in charge in this right?” She said.

“Well if you say that” I said and go back to the carriage. After a minute Rumia enter the carriage, she is carrying a lot of scale and using her dress as a holder. “Hehehehe, I got carried away” She said. “Good grief, You should not use the dress as a bag, look it is all dirty now” I said as I took the scales from her.

“Oh no, This is the only dress I have, I don’t have any spare clothes” She said while looking at her dress. “Well, I think that we will arrive at a village nearby soon, there we can ask them for a spare clothes” “Yes….” She said and we soon move the carriage.

The carriage keeps running but something is different, Rumia is sitting distant from me. Why is it? “Is there any problem Rumia?” I asked her. “N-nothing” She said. There is obviously a problem. “It is been only a two day since we started travelling, but during those two days; you are always sitting right next to me. This is the first time that you distant yourself to me” I said.

“That…. Really King! Why are you always so sensitive in a situation like this!” She screamed. “I wonder what you are talking about.” “Hah…The reason why I’m not sitting beside you is…….. I’m dirty” “Is that it?” “Yes…”

“I do not care about that though” I said as I tap the sit next to me. I think that I should not remind Rumia the fact that she is also not taking a bath during those two days. “If you say so” Rumia then sit next to me.

“HHmm~ HHmm~ HHmm~” “You are in a good mood?” N-no I’m not!” “But you are humming” “…..This is embarrassing” Rumia said as she cover her face with his hand. There is no need to be embarrassed about it.

“Well this should be it” I said. “What?” Rumia replied. “There is a village ahead” “I can’t see anything though” Rumia looks around. But all she can see is the tall tree that is surrounding us. “You will see it once we arrive there” I said.

“Hey King, no matter how you look at it there’s no way that there’s a village nearby. Maybe we should change the route” “No, we are here already” I said. After we passed the two withered tree, we pierce the bubble like substance that covered the village.

“What’s that??” “Ah, that is an illusion barrier that covers the village. Although it can only cover the appearance, it will be really hard to find for a normal human” “Then how did you found it?” “Look Rumia, the houses are visible now” “You’re not answering my question!”

We enter the hidden village. The house inside the village looks weird. They are all made of cement and connected to each other. The angle of the roof is tilted and is made of alloy. This is the first time I have seen this kind of house. The road is paved with cement. “Patrick! We have a visitor!” a shout suddenly resonate the place.

A group of men, holding a black thing that is shape like L. All of them are pointing that thing towards us. Most of them wore a plain villager clothes. They have surrounded us. And when Rumia understand the situation, she hugged me tight and buried her face against my body.

“K-King I’m scared, what should we do?” She asked worriedly. “Worry not; we are just here to ask for some clothes. I will take care of everything when something bad happens” I said as I pat her head to calm her down. And then, in the middle of the crowd, a boy who is about the same age as Rumia appears.

“My, my, what do we have here? A merchant and a little girl. What is your business from this little town?” He asked arrogantly. “I am just here because my companion needs a new clothes something good to eat and if possible a bath. Of course I will pay for it” I said. Rumia then starts pinching me and is looking me with teary eyes.

“Is that all?” “Yes” I answer him with the smile on my face. “DON’T FUCK WITH ME!!!” He screamed. Oh, did I do something wrong? “My, kids at your age should not curse, especially that I have my little girl with me” “I don’t fucking care!!” Good grief.

“Then what do you say? It is alright if we just buy the clothes?” I said. “That’s not it!! How the hell did you found this place!” He asked me. “Well, we are just travelling and all of a sudden we were here. I myself did not understand the reason on why we are suddenly here” I said. “King is really good at lying” I could hear Rumia talk to himself. It’s better than to be a stupidly honest.

“Tch, this again. I think that we should put a guard on the entrance” He said then he commanded the men around us. Then they put down the thing that they pointing at us earlier. “So what are you? A merchant or something?”he said. “Yes I am. I sell weapons and such” I reply.

“We don’t need that kind of stupid weapons……But we need the metal….. How much you got?” “I have plenty” “Great then follow us” He signaled us to follow him. “Where are we going?” I asked. “You need the clothes right? And then at the same time, we will buy some weapons from you, well if it’s metal then it’s Ok” “Ok? That is the first time I have heard that word” I said.

“Ok?... well it means that it’s fine or something” He replied. “I see” I said. Rumia then look at me and whispered. “Is everything alright now King?” “Yes everything is Okay for now” Rumia made a confused look while muttering “Okay? What’s that?” I then explain her everything what this boy told me.

“We’re here. That thing is our guest house, you should do you’re thing there. I will arrive and pick you up at evening” He said then left the place. “Wait” I call out for him. “What?” he said. “Since it would be a troublesome if I do not know the name of my costumer, I will ask you your name. My name is King by the way” I said.

“Patrick, that’s all” And then he leave. He did not say anything about my name…. That is strange. “King this house looks so pretty” Rumia said as she looks at the house. “It is indeed stunning. I wonder, how did they come up with this design?” “I don’t know, maybe some hero influenced them” She said while stretching her body.

“Heroes huh?” I muttered. “King let’s go inside!” Rumia said while pointing at the house. “Yes, be careful not to stumble” “I’m not that careless!” She said. ‘I wonder if I could find some hero in this place’ I thought as I enter the house.
