《fall into darkness》Chapter 23: The Jedi Strikes Back

Du Di'an suddenly understood why his arm became like that, most of which he used his own body to conduct a life structure experiment. From the results, it was obvious that the experiment failed. Although the twisted body on the arm can listen to nerve signals to act, But every time you act, you will pay a corresponding price, otherwise, just relying on the power of the mutant touch body, in this era of cold weapons, it is definitely a big killer!
The rickety old man seemed to have rested, and said coldly to Du Di'an: "Go there and lie down." While speaking, the dry palm touched the small crossbow, and it seemed that as long as Du Di'an refused, he would shoot immediately.
Du Di'an's face changed, he gritted his teeth and stood up. At this moment of life and death, his mind was a little messy. He took a deep breath and wanted to keep calm, but it was difficult for anyone to maintain calm in such a gloomy and desperate environment. Trembling, he moved at the slowest speed to the place pointed by the rickety old man. There was a worktable, like an operating table. There were many cutting knives on the side, and some knives were still stained with unwashed blood.
Du Di'an suddenly heard movement from the left side, looked sideways, his face changed immediately, and saw that in an iron cage, there were more than a dozen large snakes twisting in it, among them there were the yellow ones like the ones he had seen during the day. Scale snakes, obviously, these are the materials that the other party grabs to carry out the life structure experiment.
The rickety old man did not urge Du Di'an, but just looked at him quietly, as if the hunter was quietly watching the prey do the final dying struggle. When he saw Du Di'an's face changing color, the corner of his mouth slightly raised a cruel smile.
At this time, Du Dian had come to the workbench.
"See the chain on it, tie it yourself." The rickety old man ordered.
Du Dian looked at the chains fixed on the workbench, knowing that most of them were tools that the other party used to bind other experimenters before. His eyes flickered slightly, but he still grabbed a chain and wrapped it around his wrist.

There was a sneer on the rickety old man's face, ready to wait for Du Di'an to tie himself up, then get up and cut him.
Bang!
In vain, Du Dian, who was messing with the chains, squatted down suddenly and shrank under the workbench. At the same time, he swung the chains and hit the iron cage not far from the side. With a bang, there were more than a dozen big snakes sleeping in the cage. , immediately woke up, struggling and twisting in the cage.
The ricketed old man's face sank, and he said coldly: "Little devil, I wanted you to die quickly, but you have to be smart, do you think you can escape from here, even if you wear down your body again, I will If you are captured, if you are interested, come out obediently, and I will forgive you one more time!"
Du Di'an naturally wouldn't believe his nonsense. He kicked his foot on the iron cage fiercely. With the cover of the workbench, the ricketed old man couldn't shoot him from that angle. Once the opponent got close, he would have the opportunity to fight with the opponent.
Although the rickety old man has a mutant touch, and melee combat is extremely terrifying, his head is a human head after all, and the fatal point is weak, which gives Du Di'an the capital to fight!
Bang dang, the iron cage was only lightly tied with a lock, not locked. At this moment, under Du Di'an's kick, the iron cage opened immediately, and a dozen large snakes swam out of the cage quickly, some swimming into the darkness, some towards the dark. The rickety old man swam, but most of them swam towards Du Dian.
The rickety old man sneered, "I don't know whether to live or die!"
The next moment, his smile suddenly stopped, and I saw those big snakes swimming towards Du Dian suddenly turned around as if they had changed their minds and swam to other places, and four or five of them swam towards him.
"How come?" The rickety old man opened his eyes wide, suddenly thought of something, looked at a table next to him, his face suddenly gloomy, "I even stole the realgar, no wonder I have the courage to open the snake cage."

Du Dian firmly grasped a bottle of realgar crushed powder in his hand and sprinkled him all over his body. This bottle of realgar powder should have been prepared by the rickety old man when he caught these big snakes. When he noticed the snake cage, he thought of it. realgar powder. After all, although this rickety old man is known as an alchemist, he is essentially just a biological scientist of this era.
And it is so old that it is impossible to catch these big snakes with bare hands, and can only rely on other things.
As a result, he soon saw this bottle of realgar powder. Maybe it was because no one came here for too long, and the other party has always lived alone, so the things were placed casually, just right where he passed, so he was sneaked by him. come over.
"Humph!" The rickety old man snorted coldly, grabbed another set of brown-yellow robes hanging on the wall beside him, and put it on his body. At this moment, the big snakes that were swimming towards him stopped immediately, then twisted their bodies and swam into the surrounding darkness.
Seeing this scene, Du Dian immediately knew that this robe was mostly sprinkled with realgar powder, which was probably the coat he wore when he went to catch the big snake.
"Boy, you'd better come out obediently." The rickety old man stared at the workbench with gloomy eyes, his fingers tightly pressed against the crossbow, as long as Du Di'an showed his head a little, he would shoot immediately! Although the other party is just a child, but one after another, he has made a series of changes, which has made him feel threatened, and will not give Du Di'an any chance again!
Du Dian looked up and looked around the secret room. At present, the only way to survive is to subdue the alchemist, and if you want to subdue the opponent, relying on the dagger in his hand is not enough!
That's right, he has a dagger in his hand. This is the cutting tool he grabbed from the workbench when he squatted down just now.
At this moment, Du Dian suddenly saw that on a counter against the wall on the side, there were some bottles and jars piled up with labels on them, two of which were sulphur and charcoal!
This is one of the main raw materials of black powder!
Du Di'an's eyes lit up, his heart was ecstatic, he looked around in a hurry, but he didn't see the fire nitrate, and his face changed slightly. Without fire nitrate, the main raw material, it is impossible to make black gunpowder with sulfur and charcoal alone!
He clenched his fists, it felt like a foot stepped into the door of life, but was pushed back abruptly.
"Little devil, I know, you have a dagger in your hand, are you ready to fight with me?" The ricketed old man's voice sounded again, and Du Di's heart sank, knowing that he had noticed the missing dagger on the workbench, and only listened to him Continue: "Let's continue to consume like this, I'll eat something to make up for it, are you hungry?" He said, sneering twice.
When Du Dian listened to him, he immediately felt that his stomach was hungry all day, and his stomach juice burned.
However, he was slightly relieved in his heart, at least he still had time to continue to think of ways.
At this moment, a green mist floated in vain.
Du Dian's pupils shrank, and he hurriedly covered his mouth and nose. He didn't expect the other party to release this thing in this small secret room. Obviously, the other party has an antidote or other countermeasures.
Du Di'an pinched his nose, his heart pounding wildly, knowing that his time was running out, he didn't stand up desperately, thinking that the other party might have aimed at his position, and as soon as he stood up, he would be shot.
He gritted his teeth slightly, clenched his dagger tightly, and looked at the realgar powder in the other hand. Just as he was about to throw it out, he hit the east and west first, but in vain, a flash of light suddenly flashed in his mind.

I promise terrifying mushrooms, angry snakes, confused gods, even more confused cultivators and much, much more! Update schedule: (02/6/2022) As chapters are done, sorry. Progress: Currently up to old chapter 13-15. Chapter 24(or 25)/13, Parts 1 & 2 will be the end of the rework. Part 2 has been temporarily delayed due to me getting a frozen shoulder in the middle of June, which has been very slow to properly clear up. It is getting better, though, but Shoulder/neck is the worst set of muscles to have issues with ;( You can currently pick up most story threads after the rewritten chapters, starting from chapter 13-14 (old) Genre-wise, this is a bit hard to pin down. It's technically a Xianxia (because cultivators!), but it also veers towards Xuanhuan and has more traditional High Fantasy elements and a bit of Gods and Monsters and All Myths Are (on some levels) Valid. It also has a fairly large, ensemble cast, so if multiple point's of view are not your thing I am sorry. It won't ever really be considered 'grimdark' by any real measure of that definition but it does go to some complicated and fairly places dark occasionally, which I will note in author pre-chapter notes when expedient!. About the Author I mainly write fiction for my own hobby, it makes a nice change from academic scribbling! I started writing this quite a number of years ago. It has grown somewhat organically out of a bunch of different interests in all kinds of Mythology, World Building, Drawing Maps, Archaeology, Anthropology, History and Epic Fantasy fiction into what it is today. So I hope you enjoy the story and thanks for reading! Other stuff The cover is made by the author, using photos taken by the author. There is a Discord Server- Please come and chat, but beware of spoilers.

It dropped into one of the Wells and all that could be done now was hope it was found in time, if at all. -- This was my very first large story. ;) I started writing it years ago. Was fun, was difficult, but in the end, it is a story I hope that will inspire. The prologue is in first person perspective and the rest of the story in 3d. Just a little heads-up :P It is a fantasy epic with a contemporary twist for the start. The first arc of the novel is set inside our modern world, but as the mysterious events around Calin intensifies, the hidden secrets in the world start to become more fantastical. The story follows Calin, a young orphan in search of answers. But, the answers he seeks will change his life and that of his friends forever, for the secrets that caused his situation have far greater ramifications than the small village of Lamb's Crest could have known. Remember to leave ratings and reviews. I'm quite interested in hearing your thoughts on the story. ;) Enjoy reading, Omri Hope
