Year 457
Crackle Crackle alone i sit amongst a dozen or so candles all arranged around me around me in a crescent as i face them head on. The temple was completely silent with the only sound of my breathing causing any disturbance. I knew i was completely alone as all the clan members where killed years ago by invading zyanite forces. Or so i assumed, as i was never truly there to witness my Sect-mates massacre. I was not far away fishing in a nearby river but far enough that the didn't want to waste their time on me , as i doubt a zyanite would be merciful enough to let me live. Mercy wasn't in their DNA given how they were all inhuman mech-roid creations. When i returned all that was left were bodies without heads each cut clean like a surgeon operated on each of my clan mates. People i grew to love ,hate ,become friends with and family were all dead and there wasn't really much accomplish if i choose to follow their warband that day. They were elite killing machines and in this world humans are second class to all but the actual livestock, that of course only humans needed. Though at least the animals were free to be left alone as the zyanites consider killing such dumb creatures even more below them then killing actual humans. That being said all i could do would retrieve each of my fallen comrades bodies and return them to the land by giving them a burial . If my race was stronger then so too would my desire for revenge ... probably. Though the way things are now i know my position in the food chain and refuse to die for people long since gone.
My mind was wondering thinking about the past and for someone like me that could not solve a single of my problems, I decided to focus

So i sit in my temple doing the only thing i knew how to do recite my commandments and be grateful for what i have. Steading my breath i began to say " All living things experiences a natural life span therefore when its your or a friends time to meet the diviner bring no emotion or you will meet him trembling", Two "Whenever met with a perceived loss ask yourself is this the will of Cteerash the god of fate and if so how can i best please thee", Three "If you can mentally prepare for all situations never will you feel that that gods have abandon you" Four-
Suddenly i opened my eyes in instinct feeling somethings gaze on my back. Im used to some level of paranoia so when i looked back and saw nothing there i simply closed my eyes again trying to regain balance. I began where i left of
Four " True conquest isnt don't through violence but understanding"
Wshh
Again i opened my eyes and jerked my head backwards not only had a felt a stare but heard a noise, i had a feeling that someone had been watching me. I wont pretend like I'm not a little scared considering my options
but if it was a human chances are they are just curious, if it was a bear i get eaten alive, i hope it was one of the two and not worse, but i understood there wasn't much I could do.

Thousands of years ago, mankind would honor their dead and their journey to the afterlife through the process of mummification. However, it's been over 500 years since we've sent tributes to the underworld, and now the underworld, or whatever lies beyond, has decided to send something back. Authors Note- This story is inspired by DnD, Dark Souls, Guild Wars 1, and my love of eldritch horror and dark creepy dungeons. Also completed doesn't mean end of the line.
